Chapter 125: The Hundred-Year Dungeon and the Hidden Power of a ‘Shield-Bot’

The Sword Saint family truly was a peculiar lineage, adhering to a rule that their ancestor, in a drunken stupor, had gambled away and established. They had upheld it steadfastly ever since.

While the tale sounded utterly preposterous, it nonetheless highlighted the patriarch’s immense credibility at the time and the family’s remarkable adherence over the centuries.

No wonder the entire family had persisted to this day, even after being cursed by the gods.

‘My internal theorizing is complete,’ Eve thought, feeling as though she understood everything. She nodded slightly.

“I see…”

She no longer dwelled on the topic, turning instead to ask, “So, Anna, which house have you set your sights on?”

Anna, hands on her hips, declared with a proud flourish, “Oh, that… I haven’t actually decided yet! But as long as I earn enough gold coins, it should be fine, right!”

‘Don’t say such utterly unreliable things while wearing a face that screams ‘everything is under control,’ for goodness sake!’

Eve covered her face.

Yet, this was undeniably Anna’s character.

Eve asked again, “And Anna, what’s your budget for buying a house?”

This time, Anna answered without a moment’s thought: “Fifteen gold coins!”

Upon hearing this, Eve frowned slightly.

It was already mid-October. To earn 15 gold by the end of the month meant only a little over ten days remained.

This implied earning at least one gold coin per day.

To be honest, it seemed quite unrealistic, unless Anna donned a pair of stockings and robbed a bank.

Otherwise, according to Yulim, they often spent an unknown amount of time on a single quest, only to earn a mere one gold coin in the end.

Perhaps Eve should just buy the house for them herself, then have Anna and Yulim work for her to pay off the debt, much like a certain Demon Lordess.

This wasn’t just a sudden, strange thought. Anna’s brimming confidence made Eve wonder if she had come up with an idea. Unable to help herself, she asked, “Anna, do you have a way to earn 15 gold coins in such a short time?”

“Hmph hmph~ Of course!”

Anna raised her head confidently. “The Adventurer’s Guild Master has always had an S-rank quest available. Completing it guarantees at least 15 gold coins. Yulim and I wanted to take it on a long time ago, but the quest is a bit tricky. Without sufficient potion supplies along the way, the two of us alone wouldn’t be completely confident.”

“But it’s different now! With you, Luosha, a cleric, providing us with healing, supplies won’t be an issue!”

Eve’s jaw nearly dropped. ‘Good heavens, what kind of quest could be so tricky that even the combination of Anna and Yulim found it daunting, requiring a cleric like myself to provide constant healing?’

Given the difficulty of such a quest, Eve felt it necessary to clarify the details beforehand. “Anna, first, what exactly does that S-rank quest require us to hunt down?”

‘Anything worth 15 gold coins must be a world-class entity, at the very least!’

However, Anna shook her head. “Actually, it’s not really a ‘hunting’ quest, but a ‘clearance’ quest.”

“The Guild Master wants us to go to Endegulang, an underground city within the Xigelili Great Plains, to clear out the rampant monsters there.”

‘An underground city?’

Hearing that familiar term, Eve suddenly had a sense of déjà vu, like entering a team dungeon raid.

‘But this quest… it doesn’t sound too difficult, does it?’

‘Worth 15 gold coins?’

‘Could it be a late-game dungeon, even higher level than Anna and her companions?’

Eve voiced her confusion. “Are the monsters there very strong?”

Anna shook her head again. “They’re not particularly strong; they’re only third or fourth-tier monsters… However, that underground city hasn’t been cleared by adventurers for over a hundred years, so there might be quite a lot of monsters.”

‘Over a hundred years without being cleared?’

‘No, shouldn’t dungeons like this be the most frequently visited places for adventurers? Why has no one gone for over a century? Are they just letting them breed like a den of vipers for fun?’

Well, despite still having questions, Eve now understood why Anna found it tricky.

A century’s worth of accumulated monsters. Attempting to clear them all out in one go would likely exhaust anyone to death!

Without a backline healer, they could easily be worn down and killed by the sheer number of monsters.

Suddenly, Eve thought of a crucial factor. “But if that’s the case, what about Yulim then? She’s still cursed; she can’t fight, can she?”

Anna blinked her eyes, then turned to look at the hooded girl behind her. “But Yulim mostly just followed behind me, applying magic shields and unleashing elemental fields suitable for my combat. She never actually attacked monsters herself…”

“So, even if we go to the dungeon, I only plan for Yulim to assist me from the rear.”

‘So Yulim was just a shield-bot all this time?!’

Eve was quite astonished.

However, recalling Anna’s Judgement form’s combat abilities…

It seemed Yulim’s damage output wasn’t really needed during battles anyway.

Eve also remembered she had never seen Yulim’s stats, so she took the opportunity to ask the system to look up Yulim’s basic panel.

[Friendly Unit: Yulim Wilivia ()]

[Class: Elemental Destruction Mage, Herald of Finality – Shadow Dancer (Sub-Class)]

Physique:

Spirit:

Agility:

Power Rating: (Master of hundreds of spells, possessing strength far exceeding her current rank, a true Archmage. Capable of both offense and defense, with a promising future. Can also be used as a one-time ‘Destruction Mushroom,’ possessing the terrifying ability to silently annihilate an entire city in an instant.)

Eve had always suspected Yulim was a mage, but what she hadn’t guessed was that Yulim also had a sub-class.

‘Herald of Finality…’

The name alone sounded far from simple.

‘Could the ‘Finality’ in Herald of Finality refer to the Goddess of Finality?’

A chilling thought.

Scrolling further down, Yulim’s double-high stats immediately stunned Eve.

‘Holy smokes! A mage’s Agility stat was almost breaking a hundred!’

‘Yulim could practically switch professions and become an assassin!’

Moreover, even the system, uncharacteristically, provided a long, positive, and sharp evaluation, and even gave a rating!

Unfortunately, this Archmage, whom the system admired, was cursed and couldn’t unleash her full power.

She was always relegated to being an auxiliary accessory for a certain blue-haired girl.

It felt quite tragic just thinking about it.

But… that ‘Destruction Mushroom’ at the end was truly hilarious.

‘So, whether it was Anna or Yulim, they were both hidden, humanoid walking nuclear bombs!’

Then she thought about herself.

To this day, the system’s evaluation of her remained unchanged: a cannon fodder mob!

Eve deeply felt the vast, canyon-like disparity between people.

She felt like her little mob self could already start crawling in the shadows…
