Chapter 124: The Unwritten Rule and Anna’s Big Plan

Fionn looked up, and there, at the edge of the picnic blanket, sat Luosha, the very person she had been thinking about.

To Fionn’s delight, Luosha was even wearing the outfit she had picked out for her yesterday!

Fionn instantly perked up, scrambling nimbly out of her sleeping bag to greet Eve.

“Luosha, good morning!”

The voice from behind pulled Eve’s thoughts back to the present. She adjusted the mask on her face and turned around. “Good morning, Fionn.”

“Mm! Mm!”

Fionn nodded vigorously, her joyful gaze sweeping over Eve, as if admiring a meticulously dressed cloth doll.

Unfortunately, the silver-white mask with its missing corner somewhat marred the aesthetic, leaving Fionn with a hint of regret.

Yet, that very mask was also Luosha’s unique and unmistakable feature!

Without the mask, she wouldn’t be Luosha at all!

Ultimately, Fionn delivered her earnest appraisal: “Luosha, that outfit looks truly adorable on you!”

“Thank you~”

“Though I suspect it’s more a testament to Fionn’s excellent taste,” Eve added with a smile.

Fionn, who had intended to praise but found herself praised instead, became instantly shy and flustered. “Eh?! I… I’m not that amazing… Luosha was already adorable to begin with…”

Eve rose, gently tugging at a silver strand of hair that stubbornly stuck up from the girl’s head. “Alright, since you’re awake, Fionn, why don’t you go wash up and tidy yourself? Just look at that explosion of hair on your head; it’s like a bird’s nest…”

As she spoke, Eve retrieved a mirror from her bracelet and held it up, showing Fionn her dishevelled reflection.

“Mmm?! Ugh…”

Upon seeing herself in the mirror, the silver-haired girl’s face flushed crimson, and she began frantically trying to tidy her appearance.

Eve couldn’t help but chuckle. She then conveniently placed toiletries like a comb, toothbrush, and towel, along with a few small dresses from yesterday, onto the picnic blanket. “Fionn, I’ll wait for you outside. Once you’ve changed, we can go have breakfast together.”

“Mm-hm! Okay!”

Hearing Fionn’s affirmative reply, Eve promptly left the compartment, affording her ample privacy.

****

Stepping outside, Eve looked up. The sky remained heavily overcast, with occasional flashes of dark red electrical arcs visible within the dense clouds, creating an incredibly oppressive atmosphere.

‘Such peculiar weather, others must surely notice it soon…’

Sure enough, not long after, Eve spotted a burly man emerging from a nearby stable compartment. He, too, looked up at the sky, his expression turning exceptionally grim.

‘He must have noticed this unusual and eerie weather…’

Even as she thought this, the man suddenly pointed at the sky and cursed aloud: “This damn weather! Are you ever going to f*cking rain?! I washed my clothes yesterday, and I still can’t hang them out!”

“Don’t just rumble without a single drop! Who’s going to believe you’ll actually rain if you just ‘piss’ a few drops?! Don’t you dare start pouring the moment I hang my clothes out! f*ck!”

Eve: “…”

‘Right…’

‘It seems even the strange clouds above Demon Lord Lu City have been altered by Fionn, in people’s perception, into ordinary storm clouds.’

‘Indeed, even with prior mental preparation, seeing people blissfully unaware of the abnormality and danger surrounding them always made Fionn’s ability feel utterly terrifying…’

Just then, the door to the adjacent compartment opened, and a blue-haired girl emerged, stretching with narrowed eyes and emitting a drawn-out “Mmm-woo~” sound, like an air-raid siren.

Trailing behind her, a hooded girl also stepped out.

It was Anna and Yulim Wilivia.

Although Yulim Wilivia had followed Anna out, she noticed Eve before Anna did. She smiled and waved, her lips forming what looked like a silent “Morning.”

Eve saw her and responded with a smile and a wave.

Meanwhile, Anna finally lowered her stretching arms. After taking a deep breath, she abruptly opened her blue eyes, which sparkled with wisdom and vitality.

“Mmm~ I’ve woken up, and even though my head’s still a bit itchy, I feel completely recovered now, Yulim Wilivia!”

“Alright! Next, we need to find Luosha!”

“Ah, right, Yulim Wilivia, you said Luosha was at…”

Anna had turned to ask Yulim Wilivia, who was behind her, but halfway through turning, she spotted Eve, who had just finished greeting Yulim Wilivia, not far away.

Anna immediately exclaimed in surprise: “Luosha! So you were here! Hehe~ Sorry, I didn’t notice you just now… Anyway, good morning!”

‘So she truly hadn’t noticed me until just now…’

Eve felt a mix of amusement and exasperation.

However, considering how utterly drunk Anna had been yesterday, effectively adding insult to her already not-so-sharp mind, it was quite normal for her to be a bit muddled right after waking up.

Thus, Eve didn’t dwell on the minor oversight, nodding in response. “Good morning, Anna.”

“You mentioned you were looking for me just now. Is there something you need?”

Anna, walking over with Yulim Wilivia, spoke to Eve with an air of fierce determination. “Mm-hm! It’s like this, Luosha, I want to take on many more commissions during this time! To earn lots and lots of money!”

“Then, on my birthday, I’ll buy a house in the residential district!”

“That way, you and Yulim Wilivia can live together! No more sleeping separately in the stables or paying rent every month!”

“And with a large, sturdy house, we won’t have to fear the winter cold snaps and heavy snow anymore!”

The blue-haired girl’s face was alight with anticipation and a clear vision for the future, as if she had made an unshakeable decision.

Anna, after receiving the ring, was indeed different from before.

However, Eve caught a crucial detail in Anna’s words and asked with a frown, “Wait, Anna, why ‘me and Yulim Wilivia’? What about you?”

Hearing this, Anna suddenly remembered something with a jolt, and she awkwardly scratched her head. “Oh dear, I completely forgot Luosha doesn’t know about that…”

“When I came of age and left home to venture out, I made a pact with my father. Regardless of whether this adventure was enjoyable or not, I had to return to the family four years later, specifically after my twentieth birthday.”

“Otherwise, they would worry terribly.”

“And by then, my father will send family guards to escort me back.”

“If nothing unexpected happens, that guard is likely already on their way to Xielan and should arrive roughly two days before or after my birthday.”

“Once I return to the family, my father will probably keep me there through the winter, only allowing me to leave when the snow melts in early spring next year… So, during the time I’m away, I’ll have to ask you two to wait for my return.”

Having heard Anna’s explanation, Eve nodded.

She understood the gist: a doting father simply wanted his beloved daughter, who had been adventuring for four years, to return home for a family reunion.

‘But with such a perfect opportunity, why wouldn’t she bring Yulim Wilivia home to meet her parents? Is Anna’s father rather rigid? Does he think ‘yuri’ has no future?’

Eve voiced her curious question, but Anna’s reply was entirely unexpected.

“I love being an adventurer, and I still want to go on many more adventures with you all… If Yulim Wilivia were to go back with me, she probably wouldn’t be able to leave again!”

“Ah? That serious? Does your family, Anna, strongly reject outsiders?”

Eve couldn’t help but ask further.

The blue-haired girl waved her hands repeatedly. “No, no, everyone in my family is very kind!”

“Actually, it’s because my family has had an unwritten rule for a very long time: once an outsider enters our family’s stronghold, they aren’t permitted to leave until they become a Sword Saint…”

“Roly, I told you when I introduced the Tiabruns family before, that everyone from our family becomes a Sword Saint. That’s actually the reason.”

“Father says it’s because one of our family’s old ancestors, who was too proud for their own good, made that rule after losing a drunken bet.”
