Chapter 106: A Demon Lord’s Dinner Interrupted

Anna’s final drunken stupor eventually subsided, and she slumped into Yulim’s arms, falling into a deep sleep.

It was a shame, as a pile of skewers on the table remained untouched. Anna had focused entirely on drinking this time.

Yulim, being small, also had a small appetite, making her combat effectiveness quite concerning.

“So… it’s all up to me?”

Eve saw the hooded girl across from her nod sheepishly, then cast an expectant gaze her way. “Yes, Luosha, I can only rely on you… The food here can’t be packed up. It would be such a waste to leave it…”

‘It’s a waste even if it goes into my stomach,’ Eve muttered inwardly.

However, since Yulim had put it that way, Eve could only nod. “Alright then…”

She then began to single-handedly devour the various skewers on the table, striving to leave not a single piece behind.

Yet, the opening in her broken mask was not large enough to simply pop in a skewer like a small fry. Eve had to meticulously strip the meat from each skewer with her chopsticks, then slowly pick up each piece and slide it through the opening into her mouth.

While she was still meticulously eating her skewers, a system notification suddenly popped up.

[You are near a “Demon Lord” unit. Effects of the Great Calamity Domain are additionally amplified.]

“Cough, cough…”

Upon seeing the alert, Eve choked.

She turned around, and sure enough, a dark red figure stood at the entrance of the pub.

It was the Demon Lord.

For a fleeting moment, Eve almost believed the Demon Lord had come specifically to apprehend her.

However, Eve quickly noticed that beside the silver-haired girl was a tall, elegant woman.

The elegant woman led the silver-haired girl by the hand, entering the establishment and calling out to the bald owner, “Owner! Thirty skewers of roasted meat, no spice, to start!”

Our Demon Lord, meanwhile, followed rather primly behind her, yet her gaze was filled with curiosity as she observed the reveling patrons, seemingly trying to adapt to the lively atmosphere of the pub.

‘It seems the Demon Lord is just here to eat?’ Eve thought, letting out a sigh of relief.

‘It’s fine, as long as she’s not here for me.’

Eve had no desire to interact too much with this particular Demon Lord.

After all, she had managed to evade the Demon Lord’s common sense modification. If it were discovered that the modification hadn’t worked, and she was dragged away for a ‘brainwashing top-up package’…

At the thought, Eve couldn’t help but shiver.

‘Pretend I didn’t see anything, minimize my presence, finish eating, then grab Anna and leave immediately!’

‘I can’t stay in this cursed place a moment longer!’

****

But as the old saying goes, what you fear most often comes to pass.

Kamil scanned the pub, looking for a seat. Her gaze happened to land on the hooded girl, and her eyes immediately lit up. She promptly pulled the silver-haired girl behind her and approached them.

“Oh? Yulim, Anna, what a coincidence! You’re here at the street pub for skewers too!”

Yulim looked up at the sound. “It’s Sister Kamil…”

“Mm-hmm~ It’s me!”

“Oh, Yulim, who is this…?”

Kamil looked at Eve, a hint of curiosity in her eyes.

Yulim began the introductions. “This is Luosha… she’s our new companion.”

Eve stiffly lifted her head, a strained smile gracing her lips. “Ha… haha, hello…”

Kamil said with a cheerful grin, “Oh! Luosha! That’s a cool-sounding codename! Nice to meet you, my name is Kamil. I’m the owner of Saint Fae Potion Shop. Anna and Yulim often frequent my shop, so we’re old acquaintances.”

“And this one behind me, her name is Fionn. She’s my… my distant cousin!”

“By the way, would you mind if we shared your table?”

Yulim, clearly not knowing how to refuse, blinked her innocent eyes twice and nodded. “Mm… it’s fine, of course you can…”

The hooded girl’s reasoning was simple and pure: Kamil was an old acquaintance, and since she had already come over to greet them, directly refusing would be impolite.

Furthermore, the table Anna had chosen was quite large, easily seating six people, so adding Kamil and her companion would be perfectly fine. Given this, agreeing presented no issues.

“Hehe~ I knew little Yulim would agree!”

Kamil chuckled, then, with an air of familiarity, guided the silver-haired girl behind her to a seat.

A faint, delicate fragrance drifted into Eve’s nose as a red dress swept past her, then stopped and settled. The Demon Lord had taken a seat right next to Eve!

Not only that, but she also proactively greeted Eve.

“Hi~”

“We meet again, don’t we?”

Just like that morning, the silver-haired girl squinted her eyes, smiling sweetly, and gently waved at Eve.

‘She really does remember this morning’s encounter!’ Eve gave an awkward laugh. “Uh… yes, we meet again…”

Kamil, who was standing nearby, asked curiously when she saw them greet each other, “Oh, so Luosha, you and Fionn have already met?”

Yulim also cast a curious glance their way.

Fionn nodded. “This morning, when entering the city, Luosha was the first person to greet me, so I remember it quite vividly.”

Hearing this, Eve wished she could travel back in time and slap herself twice.

‘Why did she have to be so foolish as to greet the Demon Lord back then!’

‘Now look, she was directly the Demon Lord’s special target! What a disaster…’

Since things had come to this, Eve could only nod. “Yes, yes, that’s right…”

Kamil chuckled again. “Well, that’s wonderful! This is already your second meeting, which means you two have quite a bit of destiny together. You should definitely become friends.”

‘Become friends… with the Demon Lord?’

‘How could a mere gray minion like me, a lowly undead, suddenly leap from a subordinate relationship to this level!’

It wasn’t just Eve; Fionn, beside her, also hesitated.

[Agree with her! Quickly, agree with her!]

“Hehehehaha!”

[Become her friend, and then watch her, plagued by misfortune, finally vanish before your eyes!]

“Heheheh!”

That familiar voice echoed in her ears once more, urging her on with a hint of temptation.

Fionn’s blood-red eyes grew a shade darker.

“Enough!!!”

The silver-haired girl slammed her fist heavily onto the table. A ripple of red magical energy immediately spread from her fist, and the entire table instantly shattered into pieces, sending skewers and plates crashing to the floor.

Fionn snapped back to reality, realizing what she had done only when she saw everyone in the pub staring at her with terrified eyes.

Fionn took a deep breath, an eerie red glinting in her eyes. She spread her palm, and a blood-red orb materialized in the air above it.

*Crack—*

The orb was crushed in her grip, and the entire pub was instantly enveloped in a crimson curtain.

Everyone’s eyes became vacant.

Fionn gestured, and the next moment, the crimson curtain retracted.

The previously terrified patrons in the pub blinked with confusion, then quickly settled back into their seats, resuming their drinking, skewering, and boasting, all with laughter and chatter.

It was as if nothing had happened at all.

Well… except for Fionn’s table.

Kamil stared dumbfounded at the wreckage of the table on the floor before her, letting out an immediate shriek.

“Huh? How did our table suddenly collapse?”
