Chapter 88: A Free Gift

“Ah Liang, Ah Liang, why did you slip away just now? Didn’t you say you would support me?”

“That Xia Yinqiu really wants to crush me at every turn. She argued with me for half the day.”

“Tsk, but I think she lost this time. Wasn’t she the one who was taken away by her master first?”

After leaving the tea house, Qin Liang took Tang Yunle and left. Along the way, the girl was like a chirping little bird, following behind the young man and talking non-stop until they returned to their dorm.

Tang Yunle suddenly felt the urge to pee and was about to go to the restroom.

But she saw Qin Liang’s face suddenly darken. He took a step forward and rushed into the restroom before her, slamming the door shut with a “bang.”

Then, a low, suppressed cough came from inside, followed by the sound of flushing water.

Four or five minutes later, the young man with ice-blue pupils came out of the restroom, his face a little pale, and his steps a little unsteady.

Seeing this, even the usually playful and carefree Tang Yunle panicked. She took the initiative to support Qin Liang, helped him to sit down, and then quickly went to the water dispenser to get a cup of warm water. She took out some brown sugar from her own locker, threw in a few pieces, and stirred it, then handed the brown sugar water to him.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

“Did you catch a cold?”

“If you have a cold, just say so. Don’t force yourself to come and pick me up. I’ll take care of you, my bro—anyway, you’ve taken care of me so many times.”

As she spoke, Tang Yunle reached out her small hand with concern and touched the young man’s forehead. His temperature was normal, with no sign of a fever.

Qin Liang watched this scene, not knowing what expression to make for a moment.

To say that Tang Yunle was sensible and considerate… during this time, she had been wearing women’s clothing and competing with other female pets, which had caused him a lot of headaches. But to say that she was not sensible at all was not right either. When something really happened, she was reliable.

How should he describe this?

Like a daughter in college who lived off-campus, didn’t listen to her family’s arrangements, but could take good care of herself. Economically dependent, but ideologically independent. She always made her old father both worried and unable to let go?

As Qin Liang thought this, he didn’t even realize that he had unconsciously placed himself in the position of an “old father.”

Holding the cup of water with brown sugar, Qin Liang didn’t drink it. He just pointed to the medicine bottles on the top shelf of the bookshelf, which had not been opened since the beginning of school, and asked Tang Yunle to get them for him.

Tang Yunle acknowledged and tiptoed to get the medicine bottles. She unscrewed the caps and handed them to the young man.

He poured out a few tablets from each bottle and swallowed them in one go, then chugged a few mouthfuls of brown sugar water.

After taking the medicine, the effect was very fast. The young man’s originally pale face quickly gained some color, and he drank the brown sugar water in small sips.

“What medicine is this? It’s so effective?”

Tang Yunle looked at the medicine bottles curiously, but with her limited knowledge, she couldn’t understand the dense symbols on them.

“It’s a special medicine, so of course it’s effective immediately,” Qin Liang explained softly, drinking the brown sugar water. “You know I had surgery before, so there are some side effects and old problems. But it’s not a big deal. I’ll be fine after taking some medicine.”

“That’s good,” the girl said, patting her chest with a look of lingering fear. “Just now, when I saw you come out of the restroom, coughing and flushing the toilet, I thought you had vomited blood and were on the verge of death.”

As soon as her words fell, a large hand suddenly pressed on her head and rubbed it hard, with a hint of resentment. “Good daughter, can’t you say something auspicious? Are you trying to jinx your dad to death? Believe it or not, I’ll take you with me when I die?”

“Ouch, ouch, ouch! I was wrong, I was wrong. I won’t do it again!”

“Call me daddy.”

“Daddy, daddy! I was wrong. I really won’t do it again!”

In the end, amidst the girl’s series of apologies and calls of “daddy,” Qin Liang’s anger finally dissipated. He gently kicked her and asked Tang Yunle to go and get him some dinner.

Who would have thought that after Tang Yunle had readily agreed, she didn’t go out to buy him dinner, but instead, she started to rummage through his drawer.

After fumbling around for a long time without finding what she was looking for, she turned to look at the young man with ice-blue pupils who was sitting in his chair drinking brown sugar water.

“Where’s your meal card?”

“What are you doing?” Qin Liang asked, confused.

The girl rolled her eyes at him, pointed to herself, and said righteously, “Big brother, I’m a female pet now, a female pet who has graduated early and has no private property. If you don’t give me your meal card, what am I supposed to use to buy you dinner? We’ve been in this world for so long. Don’t tell me you haven’t gotten used to it yet?”

As soon as she said this, Qin Liang also realized.

He handed the meal card to Tang Yunle and watched as she ran out of the dorm. He picked up his phone, intending to watch a few short videos to relax, but for some reason, he felt an inexplicable frustration in his heart.

‘If I’m gone, what will happen to Tang Yunle?’

This thought flashed through the young man’s mind.

Dinner was braised chicken rice with a cup of lemonade, Qin Liang’s favorite set meal. But today, it tasted like wax to him.

If I’m gone, what will happen to Tang Yunle??

If this were the original world, Qin Liang would never have felt so frustrated. In that world, men and women were equal, at least legally.

Not to mention that he hadn’t survived the surgery back then. Even if he suddenly disappeared tomorrow, it wouldn’t have much to do with Tang Yunle. Perhaps she would be sad for a while, but she would still be able to complete her studies.

But in this world, female pets had no human rights. Everything of theirs was dependent on their masters. It was a real relationship of personal dependence. They prospered together and fell together.

Just like the dinner just now. Without his meal card, Tang Yunle couldn’t even eat.

Without him, what would happen to Tang Yunle, his female pet?

Qin Liang ate his braised chicken, his mood extremely agitated.

He could never go back to three years ago, to that mentality of giving it his all and fighting against fate.

If he won, he would live for another three years and live a wonderful life.

If he lost, his funeral arrangements had already been made. His parents would have his big brother to take care of them. He had no attachments in this world, so he could let go peacefully.

But now, the young man’s gaze gently shifted and fell on the long, black-haired girl who was looking down at her phone.

The two of them had known each other for less than half a year, but Tang Yunle had already been deeply embedded in his life.

That night, Qin Liang couldn’t sleep.

After the quarrel with Tang Yunle last time, he had another sleepless night.

The next day, Qin Liang woke up very early. More accurately, he hadn’t slept at all and had stayed up until dawn. His mind was in a mess, full of Tang Yunle, and he had no desire to sleep.

After a simple wash-up, he planned to have breakfast and then go for a few laps on the sports field.

While he was still alive, he wanted to see more of the beautiful world.

Tang Yunle and the other two were still fast asleep. For college students, if there was no 8 a.m. class, it was equivalent to being able to sleep in until they woke up naturally.

Not wanting to disturb them, the young man tried to move as lightly as possible. He gently turned the doorknob and opened the dorm door.

Outside the door, a tall and mature older sister, seeing the door open, immediately knelt on the ground and bowed to the young man with ice-blue pupils at the door in a kowtowing posture.

“Hello, master. I am a gift from the old master.”

“The old master also asked me to pass on a message to you: a small token of my appreciation, it’s nothing much.”

Young man: Huh???
