The air seemed to freeze for three seconds.
Qin Liang and Tang Yunke froze at the same time. Tang Yunke even maintained the posture of hugging Qin Liang’s arm. The two of them were disheveled and had fallen on Qin Liang’s bed, so close that they could smell the mixture of scorched fabric and sweat on each other.
Tang Yunke was the first to come to her senses. She abruptly pushed Qin Liang away and fumbled to find the burnt hem of her skirt, her cheeks flushed. “Sis… sis, listen to me. It’s not what you think!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll listen to you slowly.” Tang Yunle waved her hand, signaling her to calm down, and then turned her gaze to Qin Liang.
She used the divine pen to restore her damaged clothes, and then sat upright on the bed.
“See, Ah Liang understands me.”
“If I really had a problem, I would have asked directly. It’s not a misunderstanding from a TV drama, where you have to cry and make a scene, and then cry and shout about breaking up.”
“So…” Tang Yunle’s fingertips tapped lightly on the desk, her gaze calmly sweeping over the two of them, and finally, it landed on Tang Yunke’s burnt and curled hair. “Now, tell me what on earth you two have been through?”
“Ahem… it’s like this…”
Soon, with Tang Yunke’s narration, Tang Yunle gradually understood the whole story.
“So, you’re teaching him how to conquer me?”
“Yes.”
“And you’re charging a tuition fee?”
“Ahem, yes.”
“And if something happens to Ah Liang, his property will go to you?”
“Not just to me, but also to you, sister.”
Tang Yunle was silent for a moment.
Qin Liang actually agreed to this!
For her sake, he had signed that contract to give away his property after his death. Was it really worth it?
Was she… really worth him doing this?
She looked at Qin Liang, opened her mouth, and was about to speak, but she was interrupted by him.
“I like you. That’s enough.”
Qin Liang’s ice-blue eyes shone with a透光 under the light, without a trace of a joke, but with an almost obstinate seriousness.
He paused for a moment, his gaze falling on her trembling eyelashes. “When I signed that contract, I never thought about what would happen if I died. I was only thinking, ‘if I can stay by your side forever’.”
“Tang Yunle, the only one who can give you the confidence to be loved by me is yourself.”
Tang Yunle stared at Qin Liang.
The sincerity in his eyes was almost overflowing, like a melting glacier with a scorching temperature.
Class gap, other people’s opinions, family background—all the real-life barriers that she had worried about when she was tossing and turning at night were now being pried open by his nonchalant words, and were being held up by that sentence, “I like you, that’s enough.”
She opened her mouth, her throat a little tight. In the end, she only asked in a low voice, “Aren’t you… afraid?”
Afraid of her retreating, afraid of the resistance of reality, afraid that this feeling would ultimately be in vain.
“I’m afraid, but I’m even more aware that I can’t be afraid to possess just because I’m afraid of losing.”
Qin Liang smiled, his ice-blue eyes curving like they were holding starlight. “Ah Le, believe in yourself. You are worthy of being loved, and you can also love others.”
Tang Yunle’s heart suddenly lost its rhythm. She looked away, towards the bright sunlight outside the window, but her ears couldn’t help but turn red.
“Brother-in-law, give me another hundred thousand yuan after this, and I’ll help you out now,” suddenly, a faint voice came to Qin Liang’s ear.
He turned his head and saw Tang Yunke snap her fingers.
The next second, the few of them were transported to a church. Light and shadow flowed on the stained-glass windows, breaking into mottled patches of light between the two of them.
Qin Liang looked at Tang Yunle’s trembling eyelashes. The sunlight slid down the tips of her hair, casting a long silhouette.
In the audience below, Tang Yunke excitedly made a “go for it” gesture. Qin Liang understood.
The next second, he took a step forward and pulled Tang Yunle into his arms.
Tang Yunle’s shoulders stiffened at first, and a small cry of surprise was muffled in his chest. Her fingertips pressed against his chest in a light push, but the force was gentle.
Qin Liang didn’t let go. He lowered his head and kissed her—at first, it was just a gentle touch of her lips, with the warmth of the sun, until he felt her tense body gradually relax, and the hands that were pressed against his chest slowly curled up and grabbed the corner of his shirt.
Their breaths intertwined. The girl’s struggle turned into a silent, light tremor, and finally, she completely lost her strength and became quiet, letting him kiss her…
After an unknown amount of time, Qin Liang finally retreated a little, his forehead against hers, looking at her red-rimmed eyes and pink nose.
He suddenly knelt on one knee, his palm gently covering the back of her hand. His ice-blue eyes were brighter than the sun, and even more gentle.
“Ah Le, can you guess what I’m going to do next?”
Tang Yunle was shy and muttered a few words.
“Are you breaking through the window paper so quickly?”
“I thought we could still be good brothers for a while longer~~~”
“And aren’t you afraid I’ll refuse?”
Qin Liang smiled. “It’s okay. If you refuse, I’ll just kiss you again. If you refuse again, I’ll kiss you again, until you agree.”
“This old rogue’s method, who taught you?”
“Your sister.”
“Then what else did she teach you?”
“She told me stories about you when you were a child. Ah Le, now I know you very well.”
Hearing this, Tang Yunle glared at Tang Yunke, who was watching the show from below, and then her gaze fell back on the young man before her. At this moment, his ice-blue eyes were full of love and gentleness.
Tang Yunle suddenly thought of many things.
She remembered the first time she had met Qin Liang, she remembered the first time she had made him happy online, she remembered their first date after her gender transformation, and she remembered their first kiss…
It turned out that without her realizing it, Qin Liang had already spread throughout her life.
Tears suddenly fell, landing on the back of the young man’s hand. Qin Liang saw Tang Yunle cover her mouth, and she was smiling and crying at the same time. “Since you’ve worked so hard, I’ll give you a chance. Go ahead and pursue me.”
Qin Liang was stunned. A hint of disbelief first flashed in his ice-blue eyes, and then it was followed by an overwhelming joy.
His gaze swept over the jeering Tang Yunke below, and then it fell back on her reddened eyes. He took a deep breath, and his voice was clear, “Will you be my girlfriend, Tang Yunle!”
This direct, almost clumsy sentence made Tang Yunle stunned. The fingers that were covering her mouth slightly curled up.
Tears were still falling, but the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but curl up, and even her shoulders were trembling slightly. But Qin Liang was careful.
Seeing this, Qin Liang tentatively moved half a step forward and carefully extended his hand—even he, at this moment, couldn’t tell if she would agree or refuse.
“Asshole, don’t just think about me being your girlfriend. Don’t you want to think about the future?” Tang Yunle sniffed.
Qin Liang was as if burned by this sentence. His ice-blue pupils constricted violently, and then they burst with an even brighter light.
He almost blurted it out, his voice still trembling with an unsuppressed tremor, “Then… will you be my wife, Tang Yunle?”
As soon as his words fell, the jeers from below instantly overturned the roof. Tang Yunke even blew a loud whistle.
But Tang Yunle suddenly became quiet.
She lowered the hand that was covering her mouth. Tears were still hanging on her eyelashes, but she looked at Qin Liang clearly, and a tearful smile appeared on her lips.
“I’m willing.”
She replied softly, and then, as if afraid he hadn’t heard, she sniffed and repeated in a choked but extremely clear voice, “I’m willing.”
She buried her face in his chest and let out a muffled laugh, but her tears soaked his shirt. “I’m very willing.”
“Ah Liang, no, husband, you have to love me well in the future. Don’t leave me.”
“Never,” Qin Liang tightened his arms, as if he wanted to rub her into his bones and blood. His ice-blue eyes were filled with an inerasable gentleness.
“I like you, and I love you. For the rest of my life, I want you to be with me.”
The sunlight shone through the stained-glass windows, wrapping the embracing couple in a warm halo.
Below, Tang Yunke secretly took out her phone and took a picture of this scene, the smile on her lips brighter than anyone else’s.
The path of love is probably like this. As long as the time is right, it will naturally happen.
