Eve led the way, with Alice following close behind. They journeyed straight towards Eve’s own grave.
‘Though I have no idea why Alice would seek out that deceased necromancer,’ Eve mused, ‘I can probably guess the general reason.’ The righteous Saintess had likely received reports from the populace, prompting her to quell the undead crisis and eliminate the necromancer responsible.
However, that necromancer had targeted Eve first.
Only to be instantly obliterated by the newbie village’s defensive mechanisms.
What a pathetic end.
Now, the Saintess demanded to see the living or the dead, and Eve was more than happy to oblige.
Naturally, leading the Saintess directly to the necromancer was out of the question. Eve harbored her own subtle intentions.
‘Just moments ago, I was fretting over how to slip back into my coffin and hide within the newbie village, all while under the watchful eye of this Level 100 powerhouse,’ Eve thought. ‘Now, this is truly divine intervention!’
Considering the impregnable defenses of the newbie village, Eve’s guidance became exceptionally enthusiastic. She practically had “Saintess, please, enter!” etched across her forehead.
As her coffin came into view, mere steps away, Eve could barely suppress a laugh.
‘Cough, cough… hold it in, hold it in!’ she admonished herself. ‘This final step must be flawless, or I might just end up as a velvet plushie on her bed, with no chance of escape!’
To be safe, Eve mentally summoned her system and equipped the title she had previously acquired: [Baby Carriage Godslayer].
The moment the title was equipped, Eve’s steps faltered.
An indescribable surge of confidence bloomed within her chest.
It was as if…
Nothing in this world could frighten her anymore.
Even the primal sense of dread, akin to facing a natural predator, that had accompanied her while walking with Alice, swiftly faded and vanished. A suicidal impulse even sparked within her, urging her to spar a few moves with Alice.
‘Level 10 versus Level 100, what if the attributes are reversed? The advantage is mine!’
‘At worst, I’ll try and die!’
Fortunately, this absurd, inflated thought only flickered in her mind for a moment before disappearing.
Compared to that, the title offered far more positive feedback. For instance, Eve now felt her legs were steady, and her courage had swelled.
Eve subtly continued forward, arriving at the side of her silver coffin. “It’s just up ahead, Alice. This is where I found myself after waking.”
“To be honest, discovering myself lying in a coffin right after waking truly startled me.”
“The necromancer is right there. However, after I emerged from the coffin, I found him already dead—quite recently, too. I’m not entirely sure what happened.”
Eve pointed towards the figure lying a short distance away, sprawled on the ground like a puddle of mud.
Eve had taken a few glances at the necromancer after emerging from her coffin. The unfortunate wretch’s head had been blown apart by something unknown, his entire face obliterated.
