Chapter 15: The Drill Hand’s Debut

“Ah… mm… oh… What the hell is this?!”

After a stunned silence of roughly two seconds, Liu Xingluo finally registered what had just transpired.

‘My right hand! My right hand has turned into a drill! Could this be the power granted by that coin? The ability to wield powers extracted from 异生兽 (TL Note: A type of monstrous creature, often translated as ‘heteromorphic beasts’ or ‘alien beasts’)!’

Liu Xingluo was not the only one startled by the transformation of her right hand.

Even the pack of drill rats, poised to ambush her from the periphery, found themselves equally terrified.

Utterly bewildered by the sudden turn of events, they swiveled their heads to gaze at their king, awaiting further directives.

The Drill Rat King was similarly dumbfounded, having never witnessed such a bizarre occurrence.

However, it quickly snapped back to reality, dismissing this minor anomaly as inconsequential, utterly incapable of altering their adversarial relationship.

After all, this intruder had undeniably slain two of its subordinates, and it had dragged her into its lair with the express purpose of eliminating her.

To consider reconciliation simply because she had suddenly manifested an appendage identical to their own was utterly out of the question.

Liu Xingluo harbored similar thoughts.

Thus, before the drill rats could launch their assault, she endeavored to familiarize herself with the drill that had replaced her right hand.

Purely from a combat perspective, a drill was undeniably far more potent than her original hand; her fists were incapable of piercing their tough hides, but a drill could accomplish this with effortless ease.

Liu Xingluo swiftly discovered that her attempt at familiarization was entirely superfluous.

The drill felt as though it had completely fused with her body, requiring no extraneous manipulation.

Simply by willing it to rotate, it would obediently spin, and unless she consciously willed it to stop, it would continue to turn indefinitely.

Had this appendage not replaced her right hand before her very eyes, she would have undoubtedly believed that a drill had always been there, rather than her original limb.

Now armed with a highly lethal drill, the prospect of single-handedly annihilating this horde of drill rats no longer seemed impossible.

Unless she collapsed from exhaustion before eradicating every last one, Liu Xingluo could not fathom how she could possibly lose!

Moreover, Liu Xingluo felt an inexhaustible surge of energy coursing through her, rendering her utterly fearless.

“Well? Still dare to fight me? I’m not afraid of any of you now, you hear? Who wants to be the first to die? Come on, I’ll grant its wish.”

“And you, over there, the big boss, yes, you. You must be their leader, right? Tell me, if I take you out, will they just accept me as their new boss?”

Watching the drill rats encircle her, their eyes glaring but their bodies hesitant to advance, Liu Xingluo, emboldened by her new weapon, decided to actively provoke them.

With a casual gesture, she pointed her drill at the largest one, the very king that had previously sought her out.

Its red fur, a stark contrast to the blue of the other drill rats, made it easily distinguishable for Liu Xingluo.

As the old saying goes, ‘to catch the bandits, first catch their king’.

In RPGs, once the boss is defeated, the remaining lesser monsters often perish automatically, requiring no further action from the player.

Her intuition, moreover, told Liu Xingluo that if she could dispatch the largest creature first, the rest would pose no significant threat.

The question remained: would that massive creature accept her challenge?

Or would he opt to send his subordinates to wear down her stamina first, only to personally finish her off once she was sufficiently weakened?

Were Liu Xingluo in his position, she would undoubtedly choose the latter strategy, as it offered a much safer approach for her own survival.

Regardless of whether the creature chose to engage directly or send its underlings first, it would make no difference.

The current Liu Xingluo was terrifyingly powerful!

True to Liu Xingluo’s speculation, the Drill Rat King made its choice.

With a resonant roar, the drill rats on the inner perimeter of the encirclement activated their drills and charged towards Liu Xingluo.

This was precisely what Liu Xingluo desired; now, she would see how long it would take her to eliminate every last one of them.

Armed with the drill, Liu Xingluo’s combat prowess had undeniably escalated.

The drill rats possessed no particularly thick hide, allowing the drill to effortlessly eviscerate them, rendering them incapable of further combat.

Yet, they couldn’t even inflict a single scratch upon Liu Xingluo.

No, to say they couldn’t leave a scratch was an understatement; they couldn’t even manage to touch her.

The reason for this disparity lay in their agonizingly slow speed.

While they wielded lethal drills, no matter how formidable their power, it was utterly useless if they couldn’t even connect with their enemy.

Liu Xingluo, in stark contrast, found her agility completely unaffected by the drill on her hand, enabling her to launch high-speed attacks while simultaneously possessing immense destructive power.

Had the battle taken place in the cramped confines favored by the drill rats, Liu Xingluo might have sustained some injuries due to the lack of evasive space.

However, fighting within the relatively spacious Drill Rat Nest transformed the encounter into a one-sided slaughter.

Bringing her to this location was, unequivocally, a grave miscalculation.

Moreover, the drill on her right hand was not Liu Xingluo’s only weapon.

Her current strength far surpassed that of an ordinary person; her left hand and both legs could also be utilized as weapons.

While they might not deliver a fatal blow, they were certainly capable of inflicting enough pain to incapacitate some drill rats from further combat.

The Drill Rat King observed Liu Xingluo’s rampage, witnessing her devastating performance.

For the first time, this creature, which had never known fear, experienced the emotion firsthand.

It wasn’t merely Liu Xingluo’s effortless slaughter of its subordinates that instilled terror.

More profoundly, it was the fact that Liu Xingluo, even after all this killing, showed no discernible signs of fatigue.

Consequently, it made a decisive choice: flight.

This opponent, who had yet to betray a hint of weariness even after such a prolonged massacre, was clearly beyond its capacity to defeat.

Although she had slaughtered so many of its subordinates right before its eyes, and it should rightfully seek vengeance, a timely retreat was the correct course of action when facing an insurmountable foe.

It would return to exact its revenge once its own strength had grown, once it had evolved into an advanced individual comparable to her.

While its subordinates were still locked in fierce combat with Liu Xingluo, it dug a hole and fled.

Neither the drill rats, diligently following its commands, nor Liu Xingluo, reveling in her slaughter, noticed its departure.

Thus, it successfully made its escape.
