Chapter 39: The Princesses’ Tea Party and a Rushed Departure

“Huh? Why? Why are we suddenly not waiting for Little Sister anymore?”

Yinlang was perplexed by Jiqiao’s sudden declaration.

Hadn’t they just gone to Little Sister’s room with Huangren earlier?

Even though they hadn’t found Little Sister, it was undeniable that she had seen and spoken to her.

Given her and Jidi’s close relationship with Little Sister, Liu Xingluo would certainly return to attend this tea party.

“There’s no point in waiting any longer; Little Sister won’t be coming.”

“According to my calculations, she has already departed for the human world.”

Jiqiao stated her calculated findings, though even she didn’t fully comprehend some aspects, such as why Father had permitted Little Sister to journey to the human world.

Nevertheless, the calculation that Little Sister was no longer in this world was unequivocally correct.

“Wait. Second Sister, that’s merely your calculation. You can’t draw such a swift conclusion.”

“Even if Little Sister was headed towards the ‘Gate’ at the time, it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s already in the human world.”

“You know that gate is absolutely impenetrable without Father’s power.”

“How could Little Sister possibly…”

“It can be opened. You yourself mentioned that one of Father’s retainers is by Little Sister’s side, didn’t you?”

While a retainer could only wield a fraction of Father’s power, it would certainly be ample to open the gate leading to the human world.

“Impossible! That’s one of Father’s retainers. Unless Father permits it, a retainer would never do such a thing…”

With the conversation reaching this point, Yinlang finally understood.

If Little Sister had indeed passed through the gate to the human world, as Second Sister’s calculations suggested, then it must have been with Father’s explicit permission.

But why would Father allow Little Sister to go to the human world?

Could there be something that needed to be done there?

Yet, hadn’t Father also specifically instructed Jidi to go to the human world?

If there was something to be done, wouldn’t it have been simpler for Jidi to handle it while she was there, instead of having Little Sister go ahead?

Yinlang remained bewildered.

“That is precisely it. Little Sister has, in all likelihood, already departed for the human world with Father’s permission.”

“That’s why I said there’s no need to continue waiting for her. As for why Father sent Little Sister to the human world, even I am not privy to that information.”

“Since it’s Father’s will, one can only assume he has his own reasons.”

“Jidi, should you encounter Little Sister in the human world, do ask her.”

“However, if you don’t, then let it be.”

After all, Jidi’s primary mission was still to eliminate humanity.

Locating Little Sister was not her objective, merely a secondary consideration.

“Alright. No problem. If I happen to meet her in that world, I’ll certainly ask her why she didn’t attend my tea party.”

“As her elder sister, I’m usually quite kind to her, yet she couldn’t even bother to come to my tea party. Really, it’s hard not to be upset.”

The thought of Little Sister skipping her tea party left Jidi feeling a touch annoyed.

Once she found Liu Xingluo in the human world, she would definitely have to teach her a good lesson.

She would also inquire if Little Sister still held her elder sister in any regard whatsoever.

“I’m going to go search again.”

“Perhaps Little Sister is still somewhere in this imperial palace. Don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon.”

Yinlang remained unconvinced by Jiqiao’s calculations; she wouldn’t believe it unless she saw it with her own eyes.

Thus, she intended to search every corner of the imperial palace to confirm if Little Sister truly wasn’t there.

Given her familiarity with the palace and her speed, three minutes would be ample time to scour every location.

She would return to the tea party swiftly.

Meanwhile, Liu Xingluo and Lain had successfully reached the exit leading to the human world.

Once they passed through, they would be able to return to the familiar human realm.

However, an overly excited Liu Xingluo had forgotten one crucial detail.

To travel from the Aberrant Beast World to the human world, one first had to open an exit called a ‘Rift’ in the human world itself.

And what, then, would the emergence of a rift inevitably attract?

“Ouch, that hurts! What are these guys doing? Firing without even looking!”

No sooner had she burst from the rift than Liu Xingluo was caught off guard by a gunshot.

While it caused her no real injury, it was enough to shred her clothes, throw her off balance, and send her sprawling to the ground.

Fortunately, her body’s resilience was now several magnitudes stronger than before; otherwise, that single shot would likely have been fatal.

“Your Royal Highness! Audacious ruffians! How dare you commit such an insolent act against Her Royal Highness!”

Witnessing Liu Xingluo under attack, Lain immediately drew his sword, ready to retaliate and determined to make those who had harmed her pay dearly.

“Wait, Lain. Don’t attack them. Let me try to talk to them first.”

Seeing Lain about to charge, Liu Xingluo promptly shouted to stop him.

If Lain truly harmed them, the situation would become exceedingly troublesome.

Liu Xingluo was far from unfamiliar with the soldiers in protective suits before her.

The Aberrant Beast Unit, she knew them well.

They were the frontline defense, unequivocally protecting humanity, the unit that arrived at every rift emergence to strike down the aberrant beasts that appeared from within.

While they had immediately shot her upon her emergence from the rift this time, it was merely a misunderstanding; they had simply mistaken her for an aberrant beast.

They were not at fault.

All she needed to do was properly explain that she wasn’t an aberrant beast, and everything should be fine.

Conveniently, she also had vital information to relay to them; if they could transmit her intelligence to their superiors, there would be ample time to prepare for the Sixth Princess, Jidi, who was soon to arrive in the human world.

Observing that Liu Xingluo hadn’t attacked and had even halted Lain’s counterattack, the soldiers temporarily ceased their assault.

The reasons for their pause were not merely Liu Xingluo’s lack of aggression, but more so that she appeared, by all accounts, to be an ordinary high school girl in uniform.

In fact, parts of her uniform had been torn by their recent attack, revealing skin that had previously been covered, lending her an unexpectedly alluring appearance.

As for Lain, though his attire seemed somewhat unusual, he too resembled a human.

They were completely unlike the myriad colossal creatures they had battled before.

“Hmm… outwardly human, yet exhibiting aberrant beast reactions, and a type not found in our database.”

“Command Center, please advise.”

Encountering such a situation for the first time, the commanding captain was unsure how to proceed and could only contact the higher-tier Command Center for instructions from the brass.

“Highly valuable for research.”

“Neutralize and then capture the target.”

“We will also dispatch psychics to provide support.”

“Understood. All units, continue the attack. Simply neutralize the target, then capture it once it’s incapacitated.”

“Psychics are also en route to reinforce us.”

“Understood.”

“Hey, hey, hey! I’ve already raised my hands in surrender, why are you still shooting me? I’m not an aberrant beast; I’m human!”

This unexpected assault caught Liu Xingluo off guard; she had assumed that a simple gesture of surrender would prompt them to cease fire and allow her to speak with them.

Clearly, she had been far too naive.
