Chapter 26: The Stealth Bees

Having swept the surrounding spiritual plants clean, Song Zhiyou was just about to stand up when she heard Li Xiaoye’s startled cry from behind.

She whirled around and saw Li Xiaoye with a large swollen bump on his face, flailing his arms and slapping at the air.

“What happened?”

Song Zhiyou got up and hurried over, but Li Xiaoye stopped her.

“Song Xiaoyou, there’s something here that stings! Be careful!”

“Alright, I get it!”

Song Zhiyou tore a strip of cloth from her clothes and wrapped it around her exposed skin before approaching Li Xiaoye.

As soon as she got close, she heard a buzzing sound, but the space before her was still empty.

In that moment, another red lump swelled up on Li Xiaoye’s face.

Perhaps the cloth barrier worked, because the creatures didn’t attack Song Zhiyou first.

Li Xiaoye was grimacing in pain, his handsome, almost demonic face now unrecognizable.

More importantly, Song Zhiyou could see that his lips were gradually turning purple.

“Li Xiaoye, do you have any detox pills? I think you need one!”

Li Xiaoye was busy swatting at the air. He paused. “What? I’m not poisoned…”

As he spoke, he staggered and nearly fell.

A single sting not only caused excruciating pain but also poisoned the victim, weakening them.

Daring not to delay, Li Xiaoye quickly took out a detox pill and swallowed it.

The purple faded from his lips, and he regained his mobility, but the invisible creatures still hovered around him.

With another yelp from Li Xiaoye, his face began to swell again.

Song Zhiyou acted swiftly. She swung her sword, slicing toward Li Xiaoye’s face.

A line of blood appeared on his cheek, and at the same time, a bee dropped out of invisibility and fell to the ground.

This wasn’t an ordinary demon beast—Song Zhiyou didn’t recognize it. But since it had a physical body and could be harmed, they could deal with it.

Then, the buzzing noise suddenly grew louder.

Relying on sound and instinct, she swung her sword several times in one direction.

Another bee fell out of invisibility.

Thinking quickly, Song Zhiyou grabbed a handful of powder from her storage pouch and threw it into the buzzing air.

The next second, five bees, each the size of a fingernail, appeared in the previously empty space!

Song Zhiyou temporarily named them “stealth bees.”

With targets now visible, she quickly dispatched all five.

Li Xiaoye, whose one eye was already swollen shut, watched in shock.

“Song Xiaoyou, you actually have such a divine item!”

“Idiot, that’s flour!”

“Song Xiaoyou, you bring flour when you go out?”

“Of course. Better safe than sorry.”

Li Xiaoye, grimacing, cast two healing spells on himself. The lumps subsided, and he felt his vision clear.

He crouched beside Song Zhiyou, who was poking the bee corpses with a stick.

Finally, she wrapped them in leaves and stored them in her pouch.

“Song Xiaoyou, what do you want those for?”

Song Zhiyou mumbled something vague, and Li Xiaoye didn’t press further.

Just then, three terrified shrieks came from not far away.

Three children, about their age, came running toward them, arms flailing like monkeys.

Their movements looked exactly like Li Xiaoye’s earlier.

Sure enough, their faces were bruised and swollen, even worse than Li Xiaoye had been.

When they saw Song Zhiyou and Li Xiaoye, they looked as if they’d found salvation.

“Fellow cultivators! Help!”

As they spoke, they rushed past the duo like a gust of wind.

In an instant, they were gone.

As everyone knows, when encountering dangerous demon beasts, you don’t need to outrun the beast—just your companions.

Those three intended to use Song Zhiyou and Li Xiaoye as scapegoats.

Song Zhiyou was stunned for a moment, then threw a handful of flour to reveal and kill the remaining stealth bees.

She grabbed her sword, grinned fiercely, and sprinted after the three.

“You little brats! Trying to set up your ancestors? Looking for death?!”
