Chapter 10: First of All, I Am Not a Lolicon

A long silence filled the room.

Luka picked up his magic gun and stood.

Huumm.

Mana poured in. The magic gun entered an active state, and the runes on its body began to glow.

“Wait! I can explain!”

Moye held up one hand while covering her face with the other. “Little sister Luka, there must be a deep misunderstanding between us!

“Whatever you’re thinking right now, please believe me. It’s absolutely not what you think!”

“Oh? Then what is it?” Luka asked.

“Uh… well… let me think.”

Moye rubbed her brow. “Well, besides the methods written in the first-aid manual, we veterans have also summed up many ways to improve mana absorption efficiency over our long battles.

“The marks you think are suspicious are actually just part of the medical treatment. They’re precious veteran experience! There’s no evil behavior mixed with personal desire or lust!”

“So you’re saying…”

Luka held the magic gun, his face calm. “You saw me unconscious. For emergency treatment and mana transfer, you paid special attention to my soles, the backs of my knees, my chest, and my neck.

“And during the whole process, you kept the corners of your mouth down, your face calm, unruffled as a still ancient well, without a single selfish or lewd thought. Is that right?”

Cold sweat ran down Moye’s temple. “Uh… yeah, maybe that’s right?”

Click.

Luka’s face darkened. He raised the magic gun and pointed it at Moye.

“W-wait!”

Moye was horrified and waved her hands quickly. “Let me explain! There’s one most crucial point in this matter that can absolutely prove my innocence!”

Luka didn’t answer. He just narrowed his eyes and rested his finger on the trigger, as if waiting for Moye’s final answer.

Moye took a deep breath. With a solemn expression, she looked seriously into Luka’s eyes and said in a serious tone:

“First of all, I am not a lolicon.”

Huumm.

The muzzle of the magic gun blazed with light.

“Go to hell, you perverted lolicon!”

“Wait, wait! Calm down! No! Guaaah!”

After a long while.

“I am deeply sorry, Lady Luka. I won’t dare anymore.”

Moye hung her head, prostrated herself on the ground, and assumed the dogeza pose. “I have deeply realized my mistake. Please punish me, Lady Luka.”

Luka looked at her with contempt, as if looking at a piece of trash. He kept stomping on Moye’s head with his small foot wrapped in white silk stockings.

“Since you really did help me recover my mana, I’ll spare you this once!”

Luka’s face was grim. “If there’s a next time, I won’t be so easygoing.”

“Yes! I swear, if there is a next time, may I be pierced through the heart by ten thousand guns of the Demon Army on the spot and die a horrible death!” Moye shouted.

“Hmph.”

Luka lifted his foot.

He turned and picked up his boots. He put them on one by one.

That Moye, ever since she saw his full bloom, had somehow become even more perverted than before.

But setting aside the lecherous lolicon thing, her attitude toward him had actually become more obedient.

The gap in their strength was obvious. Even if he really threw a fit, he couldn’t do anything to her.

Yet she still let him scold her properly.

An elite veteran magical girl with two-star strength, and gorgeous looks to boot.

But her personality was such a freak!

Luka sighed helplessly.

As he was fixing his clothes, Moye’s hand reached over from the side.

Her palm opened. Inside were five smooth, beautiful, gem-like crystals.

Four of them were only the size of a fingernail. The last one was oddly huge, fully half a palm in size.

Its surface was far more refined in luster and patterns, and a dense mana aura faintly emanated from it.

“What are these?” Luka asked curiously.

“Magic crystals from inside the Spider Slaughter Demon and the four demon soldiers. They’re the source of their mana.”

Moye said with a grin. “The mana inside them is no different from the mana of the Witch Realm. When a magical girl absorbs them, she can increase her mana and make her flower seed grow faster. These are all for you.”

Luka was startled. He didn’t reach out immediately and said hesitantly:

“Not to mention that the Spider Slaughter Demon was only killed because your Stasis Eye held it in control. And those four demon soldiers were all taken down by you. I didn’t put in any effort. How can I take your magic crystals?”

Moye shook her head. She put away her playful expression and rarely showed a truly serious look.

“In my hometown on the Eastern Continent, there is a legend that has been handed down to this day.”

“It’s said that in some era in the past, there was a magical girl who saved the entire Eastern Continent. Even when she was still very weak, she could enter the full bloom state. People said she was an angel sent down to the mortal world by the Magic Goddess.

“I never quite believed that incomplete legend.

“But when I saw you in full bloom, that holy and beautiful bearing, I had a vague premonition: following you might let me survive until retirement, and even make me stronger, with hope of touching a realm I never dared to dream of.”

With that, Moye grabbed Luka’s hand and stuffed the crystals into his palm.

“Heh, just take it as an excuse I made up on the spot to apologize.”

Moye gave him a playful wink. “Good little sister, don’t forget to help me foresee danger more often from now on.”

Luka held the crystals and watched Moye’s retreating back, his feelings complicated.

He remembered the scenes of Moye easily dying in the magic airship and in the log cabin.

‘With luck like hers, can she really make it to retirement…’

‘But since she willingly handed over all the spoils, I shouldn’t be petty about it. I’ll just look after her more from now on.’

Luka clenched the five crystals in his palm and focused his mind.

The crystals glowed. Their mana flowed into Luka’s body like a trickling stream.

The mana circulated through his limbs and bones and was quickly absorbed by the flower seed.

The four demon soldiers’ crystals vanished in an instant. Their combined mana equaled roughly a few tenths of what he needed for his next advancement.

The Spider Slaughter Demon’s crystal was far more exaggerated. It took several full minutes to completely absorb all the mana within it.

He felt the magical flower seed, which had just reached One-Star, Rank 1, suddenly surge forward by a huge margin.

It was almost at the point where advancing to One-Star, Rank 2 was only a little ways off.

He estimated that absorbing another dozen or twenty demon soldiers’ crystals would let him break through to the second rank.

‘I just leveled up not long ago, and now I’m about to advance again!’

Luka was thrilled and couldn’t help shaking his little fist.

‘It seems that although the mortality rate is extremely high, magical girls do grow far faster on the battlefield than through daily training.’

‘Kill enemies, then plunder their magic crystals for my own use. I must cherish every chance to fight and grow to overwhelming strength as soon as possible.’

‘Then climb out of this damned battlefield!’

Just as he was silently making up his mind, Moye’s slightly nervous voice suddenly sounded.

“Luka, come quick! Something’s going on!”
