Join the ServerDusk had passed, and the sky had darkened completely.
The second floor of the wooden building.
Four demon soldiers were split into two pairs, guarding one window each at the front and back.
They hid their bodies behind the window frames, raised their magic guns, and carefully watched the air.
Their crimson eyes gleamed with malice, eerie and terrifying in the dark.
Demon soldiers had decent night vision, their eyes piercing the darkness to monitor several dozen meters around them.
Earlier, when Luka fired a warning shot at Moye, the gunfire had already alerted them.
The four demon soldiers had been on high alert since then.
They hadn’t bothered to watch the stairs; instead, they kept their eyes locked on the two windows, gun lines set.
Based on the demon army’s experience, Magicas (witches) had two most obvious behavior patterns.
First, they excelled at flying and relied heavily on air superiority. Unless absolutely necessary, they wouldn’t land to fight on the ground.
Second, they trusted their shields completely and never feared a direct firefight with a small group of demons.
Because of these patterns, there was a ninety-nine percent chance an enemy Magica would fly straight through a window.
She would almost never come in through the first-floor door.
So the demon soldiers had hidden their presence early and waited, hoping to catch her off guard.
If the Magica was careless and didn’t raise her shield, she’d be killed instantly.
Even if she was vigilant enough to block the magic bullets with her shield, that was fine.
The demon soldiers were just bait.
When the Magica thought she’d killed all enemies and let her guard down, the hidden Spider Executioner Demon above would strike with a thunderous attack.
If they could kill one Magica, losing four demon soldiers was nothing.
Even sacrificing dozens was a huge win.
Thinking about this, the Spider Executioner Demon hiding on the ceiling let out a silent, sinister laugh in the dark.
Half an hour passed in the silent wait.
Just as the demon soldiers were starting to slack off…
Finally, in the dark night sky, a figure flew toward them from afar.
“It’s a Magica! Get ready!”
The demon soldiers got excited, pressed lower, fingers on triggers, waiting for the Magica to appear at the window.
Soon.
Shhh!
A figure appeared.
The demon soldiers rejoiced, about to fire.
“[Flare]!”
A furious shout rang out, and a blinding white light suddenly filled their vision.
The light was so intense it was like a sun briefly rising in the night, bursting through the window.
The demon soldiers, who’d been staring into the dark with full focus, felt their eyes sting, tears streaming, and instinctively shut their eyes.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out, and the window glass shattered instantly.
A magic bullet shot out from the light and blew apart the nearest demon soldier’s head, brains and blood splattering.
Then a slender figure darted into the room like lightning: Moye.
“Roar! Die!”
One demon soldier, eyes still squeezed shut in pain, heard the sound and thrust its bayonet toward the source, roaring.
It hit nothing. The bayonet found empty air.
Moye had already sidestepped, easily dodging the blade. Her right hand raised the gun and pressed it against the demon soldier’s chest.
Bang!
A second gunshot. A huge hole blasted open in the demon soldier’s chest. It let out a miserable howl and collapsed.
A magic girl’s gun was different from the models used by mortals and demon troops; it was powered purely by her own magic.
The stronger the gun’s owner, the greater its power and firing speed.
Within three seconds, Moye had fired two shots in rapid succession. That was impossible for a magic girl at the [One-Star Sprout] level.
Her strength at [Two-Star Sprout] was obvious.
However, the remaining two demon soldiers had now mostly recovered from the glare.
They squinted their swollen red eyes and aimed at Moye.
Magic guns gleamed, ready to fire.
“[Paralysis]!”
Moye didn’t panic. She raised her left hand at one of the demon soldiers and shouted.
The targeted soldier’s body felt like an electric current passed through it. Its muscles convulsed uncontrollably, unable to make any move.
Bang!
A third gunshot.
The demon soldier that wasn’t paralyzed had its head burst open before it could pull the trigger on Moye.
Moye lowered her magic gun, its muzzle glowing slightly red from rapid fire.
She stepped forward, approaching the last demon soldier, still paralyzed.
An ordinary demon soldier’s magic resistance wasn’t enough to shake off a paralysis spell.
Once hit, it couldn’t break free for a while.
“Grh… ugh…”
A hoarse, halting snarl escaped the demon soldier’s mouth.
It couldn’t move, its crimson eyes staring at Moye with intense hatred.
“Heh!”
Moye sneered, snatching the magic gun from its hands.
Then with a bang, she kicked it to the ground.
“Ugly thing, you thought you could ambush me? What a pipe dream!”
Moye raised her long, straight leg and stomped her heel on its head. “Go die!”
Then she took the stolen magic gun’s bayonet and drove it hard into the demon soldier’s neck.
Shlick! Blood sprayed.
The demon soldier let out one last cry and stopped moving.
Moye pulled back her leg, twirled her magic gun stylishly, and returned it to her back.
Then she spat on the corpse, looking utterly contemptuous.
“Hmph, four demon soldiers, and they didn’t even get off a single shot. Useless. My shield’s still brand new!”
Moye muttered to herself and stretched.
Then, with a thought, she dispelled the shield that was constantly draining her magic.
But in her relaxed carelessness, she seemed completely unaware of the deadly danger looming above her head.
In the shadowy corner of the ceiling.
The Spider Executioner Demon stared at Moye with its eight compound eyes, wearing a sinister smile.
‘She’s a Two-Star Sprout elite Magica,’ it thought.
‘This is a nice prize. I’ll definitely savor her taste later. So much better than those One-Star Magicas.’
The Spider Executioner Demon suppressed its drool, pulled its legs in, raised its bone blades, and had long since readied itself to pounce.
But when Moye burst into the room, it didn’t attack.
When Moye killed the second and third demon soldiers, it didn’t attack.
Even when Moye stomped on the last one, it still didn’t attack.
Because it was a professional, cautious Magica hunter.
The Spider Executioner Demon knew that a Magica in combat would have her shield raised to the max.
She might also have all sorts of bizarre, unique magic abilities protecting her.
So it would never strike until its prey was at its most defenseless and unaware.
Finally.
Moye completely dropped her guard. She put away her magic gun and dispelled her shield.
She even closed her eyes and rubbed at her eyepatch, looking tired.
“Now!”
The Spider Executioner Demon’s eight compound eyes flashed. Its legs snapped, and it lunged at Moye like an eagle diving for prey.
Whoosh!
The bone blade on its arm extended long, like a deathly ghost in the night, moving with lightning speed.
Below, Moye was oblivious, still dully rubbing her eyes.
‘Got her!’ the Spider Executioner Demon exulted.
Then, just as the bone blade was about to pierce Moye.
The demon’s smug expression froze on its ugly face.
“[Stasis]!”
A loud shout rang out. The demon’s pouncing body stopped in midair as if someone pressed pause.
The bone blade was extended, only a few centimeters from Moye’s one eye, but it couldn’t advance another inch.
In front of the blade, a golden eye gleamed, dazzling.
At some point, Moye had taken off her eyepatch.
Under it was a bizarre golden-pupiled eye, blazing with light, in sharp contrast to the black pupil of her left eye.
The golden light was like a flame in the dark, illuminating the room.
Under that gaze, the Spider Executioner Demon fell into a brief state of stasis, its body locked as if fused with space.
No matter how it struggled, it couldn’t move an inch.
‘Damn it! This… this is this Magica’s unique magic!’
Its mind shook. ‘She knew I was hiding in here all along. She deliberately opened a gap to lure me in!’
Fortunately, what slightly relieved it was that Moye wasn’t making any further move.
Because she, too, seemed trapped in a half-stasis. Her body and limbs were frozen.
Only her face could move, barely.
She was pale, sweating cold, clearly drained.
It seemed her unique magic consumed a great deal, and even had the side effect of freezing her too.
‘She can’t hold on. In a few seconds, I can break free!’ the Spider Executioner Demon exulted.
Before it could relax.
“Hurry! I can’t hold it for long!”
Moye suddenly shouted with all her might. “Three seconds! Kill it!”
As she yelled, a figure emerged from the darkness outside the window.
It was Luka, who had been waiting.
Luka raised his magic gun and aimed at the demon’s ugly head.
His eyes were cold, filled with killing intent.
