Join the ServerBy the time I returned home, the napkins I had used to stop the bleeding were enough to fill an entire trash can.
I simply put them all into a box and placed them in the refrigerator to preserve them for later.
Then, I rummaged through my bag to find the printed Rejuvenation Talismans I had brought back from the Supernatural Events Department.
Only now did I truly understand how important it was that Bai Yue’s Gu insects possessed healing effects.
However, I really couldn’t bring myself to accept a cockroach, and the Jade Gecko had already been given to Xiao Qing by Senior Sister Mo.
Fortunately, the Rejuvenation Talismans were very effective; they quickly healed the wounds on my body.
I would have to keep these talismans on me at all times from now on—at least three for emergencies.
However, the Rejuvenation Talismans could not replenish my lost blood and qi.
Not only did I still feel dizzy and see spots before my eyes, but my entire body’s skin began to itch, just like it had a few days ago.
Looking closely, I could see faint wrinkles appearing on my skin.
Although they weren’t noticeable unless one looked very closely, flaws were appearing on Xia Yubing’s originally perfect skin.
Could this be due to the excessive blood loss?
I took some brown sugar and red dates to boil ginger sugar water.
This was a simple blood-replenishing method Senior Sister Mo had taught me.
After drinking it, my body did feel slightly better and the dizziness subsided, but my skin still tingled with a faint itch.
It seemed that buying some blood-replenishing health products was quite necessary.
I changed into clean clothes and went downstairs to find a lamb noodle shop.
This time, I specifically ordered extra lamb blood and offal, determined to aggressively replenish my blood and qi.
After that, I took the small jade Buddha and brought my two Gu insects along as I took the elevator to the tenth floor.
I prepared to visit that old lady.
Her home was still radiating an incredibly thick, glass-colored aura.
Just stepping out of the elevator, I felt a wave of suffocation and pressure.
The two Gu insects on my person began a series of continuous protests.
It wasn’t that they couldn’t survive in this kind of aura, but they felt extremely uncomfortable and wanted me to leave.
One had to realize that these two Gu insects had taken the opportunity to suck my blood during the car accident and had reached Rank 5.
According to Bai Yue, even in her clan, Rank 5 Gu insects were very rare.
Only elite Gu masters could cultivate Rank 5 insects.
Yet even these two Rank 5 Gu insects showed reverence and a desire to retreat in the face of the Buddhist light before me.
One could only imagine how powerful the Buddhist light in this old lady’s home truly was.
This caused me to hesitate about whether I should even go in.
I was basically certain now that this residential area was abnormal.
It was also hard to say if that old lady was normal herself.
I felt that with such thick Buddhist light protecting her and her wealth, she shouldn’t be affected by anything dirty.
However, I couldn’t rule out the possibility that she was actually a lunatic or someone who enjoyed chaos.
I had met her once before and shared a brief conversation; my impression was of a rather kind old grandmother who didn’t seem like a bad person.
But one can know a person’s face without knowing their heart. I couldn’t guarantee she was definitely fine.
Under normal circumstances, two Rank 5 Gu insects would be enough for me to deal with most mortals or even ordinary ghosts.
This was the source of the confidence I had to visit the old lady.
But now that they were both useless, I hesitated, unsure if I should knock.
Perhaps I should just come back another day?
To my surprise, while I was still standing indecisively before the door, it suddenly swung open.
An aged voice drifted from inside. “Eh? Is it the little girl from the other day? What are you doing in front of my door?”
I immediately covered my eyes.
It was so dazzling.
The interior of her home was a sea of golden light, so bright and brilliant that I couldn’t even see what was inside the doorway for a moment.
My ears seemed to hear distant Sanskrit chants, Buddhist music, Arhats chanting scriptures, and Bodhisattvas preaching the Dao.
The Golden Bee Gu and the Iron-wire Dragon Gu, showing absolutely no loyalty, fled directly from my back, leaving their master stranded at the door.
The old lady stood in the doorway.
Because her silhouette blocked a portion of the light, I was finally able to look directly at her face.
Due to the Buddhist light behind her, the front of her body appeared incredibly dark.
At this point, I could only brace myself and speak. “Hello, ma’am. I was just thinking of visiting you, but I didn’t expect you to open the door yourself.”
“Oh, I was just about to head out for a walk. Since you’re here, please come in first.”
The old lady moved to the side and invited me into the house.
To be honest, I really didn’t want to enter this house that looked like a temple.
But I was already at the door and had said I was here to visit; it was too late to back out now.
I could only walk step by step into the depths of that light.
Once I stepped inside the door, the Buddhist light vanished instantly—or rather, the Buddhist essence was everywhere.
I had already integrated with it, so I could no longer see the radiance.
In its place was the smell of incense smoke.
I wasn’t sure if it was because of the contrast in brightness, but I felt the room was very dark.
Even if the old lady hadn’t turned on the lights, it was currently noon—how could even the living room be this dark?
Looking closely, all the windows in the living room had been covered with thick curtains.
The curtains were embroidered with the image of the Buddha attaining enlightenment.
The floor was covered with dark-toned carpets, filled with various mysterious patterns in a very Tibetan style.
The only light source in the living room was the candles in front of three shrines.
The shrines housed the Buddha of the Past (Dipankara), the Buddha of the Present (Shakyamuni), and the Buddha of the Future (Maitreya).
All three shrines were filled with offerings.
“I’m sorry, the living room is currently being used to worship the Great Ancestors. Please move to the side hall,” the old lady said slowly.
“Uh, oh, okay.”
What else could I say? I could only follow her.
But the side hall wasn’t much better.
The walls were covered with various Buddhist treasures; the display cabinets were filled with a large number of Arhat and Bodhisattva statues, and the bookshelves were packed with scriptures.
Even in the center of the side hall, there was an altar table.
In front of the table were neatly placed Dharma bells, wooden fish, prayer wheels, and a shelf for scriptures.
On the altar table sat a seven-colored glass pagoda—or rather, a Sarira Stupa.
The old lady didn’t tell me where to sit.
She simply went to a prayer mat in front of the altar table and began muttering to herself about a visitor’s arrival.
She asked the Buddha and Bodhisattvas to forgive the guest’s intrusion and to protect the guest.
She was probably the most devout Buddhist I had ever seen.
But how should I put it? There was a fundamental difference between her and the masters from Mingwang Temple I had encountered.
She didn’t possess any Buddhist light herself; she was just an ordinary believer.
However, the Buddhist treasures and statues hanging in this room were likely all Dharma artifacts.
Because the entire room was enveloped in Buddhist essence, I couldn’t see these artifacts clearly.
But I felt that all of their energy fields were concentrated toward that pagoda on the altar table.
The seven-colored glass pagoda was the core of this energy field.
Or rather, even the pagoda wasn’t the core; the true core was the thing inside it—a round kernel shining with golden light, radiating brilliance from the top level of the pagoda.
That seven-colored light was exactly the Buddhist light I had seen at night, illuminating the entire residential area.
