Chapter 62: The Beauty of Inorganic Matter

I could somewhat tell from when we bathed together before.
Xiao Qing seemed to enjoy teasing me and seeing my embarrassed reactions.
She was never like this in the past.
Or could it be that what she actually likes is Xia Yubing’s body?

When Xiao Qing took out the light, frilly, lace-covered dress she had chosen for me, I exclaimed in surprise, “Isn’t this Lolita style?”

“That’s right. I remember you like Lolita, don’t you, Brother Xiao? Hurry up and put it on~” Ou Zhiqin said with a mischievous smile.

“No, liking Lolita doesn’t mean I like to wear Lolita dresses!” I vehemently resisted wearing such a frilly outfit.

“Come on, please? Can’t you just wear it for me to see, Brother Xiao? I really want to see what the cold and aloof goddess looks like in a Lolita dress,” Ou Zhiqin pleaded, looking like an adorable little puppy.

I had never been able to refuse her requests like this since we were children, especially since she had just risked her life fighting the Painted Skin Ghost for me not long ago.
Thinking of this, I gave up my resistance and obediently put on the Lolita dress she had picked.

This lace dress had many ribbons, making it very troublesome just to put on.
It also came with matching sheer gloves and over-the-knee white stockings with bows.
Xiao Qing helped me put all of these on, while I just felt awkward all over.

After I was finally dressed, even Xiao Qing had a stunned expression on her face, “So beautiful. I had a feeling this style might suit you, but I never expected it to exceed my imagination. Brother Xiao, quick, look in the mirror!”

Xiao Qing pulled me to face the mirror.
She had chosen a black and white Lolita dress for me.
When I saw myself in the mirror, my heart actually skipped a beat.
I had to admit, Xiao Qing had good taste.

Xia Yubing already possessed an inhuman, inorganic kind of beauty, especially with the cold temperament she had when her face was expressionless.
After putting on the Lolita dress, the me in the mirror looked just like a doll—a Western doll.

But I still felt awkward, especially when Xiao Qing said she guessed this style might suit me.
Shouldn’t it be that this style suits Xia Yubing?

“Brother Xiao, don’t move your hands around so much, it’ll ruin the look. Come sit here, I’ll comb your hair for you,” Xiao Qing helped me sit down in a chair, brought over a comb, and started combing my hair in front of the mirror.

Now I looked even more like a porcelain doll.
Xia Yubing had long, satin-like black hair that almost touched the floor when she sat in a chair.
I had absolutely no idea how to manage long hair, so I could only sit obediently, not moving a muscle, and let Xiao Qing style it.

‘It’s just too cute, sitting here like this.’
‘If it weren’t me, I would really want to be in Xiao Qing’s place, combing Xia Yubing’s hair.’
‘Unfortunately, all I can do now is sit here and enjoy being taken care of by Xiao Qing.’

“Nice, it’s perfect. Let’s change into the next outfit,” Ou Zhiqin said with a happy smile, looking at the mirror.

“Wait a minute? There’s more?” I asked in alarm, feeling an urge to flee from the changing room.

“Of course. You’re not just going to wear one outfit, are you, Brother Xiao? You need clothes to change into. You should buy at least five sets, not including pajamas and underwear,” Xiao Qing said.
I saw the light in my own eyes in the mirror instantly vanish.

Next, Xiao Qing had me change into an all-black Gothic-style dress, complete with a round hat.
After putting it on, I felt like a noble lady from the Victorian era.

Then came a French-style, tea-brown plaid dress, a sweet, fairytale-style jumper dress with a red base, and a long dress with a Peter Pan collar and ruffles.
Every single one of them left me stunned.
I had to admire Xiao Qing’s eye for fashion, or perhaps, Xia Yubing’s features were just too perfect.
She looked beautiful in anything.

“Tsk tsk, Brother Xiao, there’s something I don’t know if I should say, but I’m a little jealous of you,” Xiao Qing’s tone indeed carried a hint of envy and jealousy.
“I never thought such a perfect girl could really exist. If I had a body like this, Brother Xiao would have long…”

Xiao Qing’s words stopped abruptly.
I asked in confusion, “What were you about to say?”

“Nothing, hurry up and change into the next one!” Xiao Qing said, a little embarrassed.

I could only shift my attention back to the clothes and suddenly noticed a problem, “Xiao Qing, these clothes you picked for me are really pretty, but they’re not something you can wear out on a normal day, are they?”

The clothes she had chosen for me were all various European styles, emphasizing magnificence and fantasy.
In any case, they weren’t clothes that girls would wear for daily life.
Xiao Qing pouted and said, “What does that matter? It’s not like I haven’t seen people wear things like this outside.”

What Xiao Qing said wasn’t entirely without reason.
I had indeed seen girls in similar styles on the street before.
Times have changed; wearing something like this out wouldn’t be seen as cosplay anymore, though it would certainly turn a lot of heads.

“Xiao Qing, could you pick a few more… normal outfits for me? Something that won’t make me stand out so much,” I said, shaking my head.
Dressed like this, Xia Yubing would stick out like a sore thumb.

“With your beauty right now, Brother Xiao, you’ll stand out no matter what you wear, unless you cover your face,” Xiao Qing said, but she still went out and helped me pick a few more ordinary outfits.

At Xiao Qing’s insistence, I ended up buying all the clothes she had her eye on, including those little dresses full of lace and ribbons, as well as underwear, pajamas, and even stockings.

According to Mo Qingyan, not a single piece of Xia Yubing’s original clothing could be kept.
Therefore, I had no choice but to let Xiao Qing help me change into the newly bought underwear.
Although we had already bathed together, I couldn’t help but feel my face flush with shyness.

The clothes Xiao Qing chose weren’t expensive, but they weren’t cheap either.
All together, they cost over five thousand yuan.
For the old me, this was an unimaginable sum, but now I had become somewhat numb to money.
After all, I could pay with just a swipe.

After leaving the store, Xiao Qing and I secretly found a place and burned Xia Yubing’s set of clothes to ashes.
Only then, wearing my new clothes, did I head to Xia Yubing’s house, accompanied by Xiao Qing.

Xia Yubing’s large mansion was still sealed off, and many police officers were still investigating.
I saw that some areas in the yard had signs of digging.
When the police saw it was me, they didn’t stop me and let me right in.

After entering the mansion, besides the bloodstains everywhere on the floor and walls, I noticed the police had also removed the suspended ceiling.
In addition, the floorboards had been dug up.
It seemed they were looking for something here.

Just then, a police officer walked over, with Yi Zhiqiu by his side.
I asked in confusion, “What are you digging for?”

“We haven’t found the human skins left by the Painted Skin Ghost, nor the remains of some of the victims. We didn’t find them in this residence, so it might have hidden them elsewhere. We’re very sorry for tearing your house apart like this. The police will be responsible for restoring it afterward,” the officer said.

“By the way, we found your parents’ bank cards and password book. These should be handed over to you as part of your inheritance. In addition, they also have quite a few shares and properties, which will all be transferred to you as inheritance after the investigation is complete.”
