This classic line came from a magical-girl anime Lin Yu had watched when she was little. Zigong Xiang-style art—rough and crude.
Back then it felt hot-blooded and exciting, but in hindsight it really was kind of childish.
After all, in the face of real-world physical laws, idealism would just get beaten black and blue.
But at this very moment— amid these despair-filled ruins and torrential rain, in this mire soaked through with blood—
Lin Yu truly wanted to shout that line out loud.
No, not with her throat.
But with these trembling arms, with this battered body, and with that searing, rolling heat!
“Ugh—!”
A miracle seemed to be happening.
“Zzzzzz—!!!”
The sound of steam rising echoed.
In her blurred vision, the dark-red giant suddenly convulsed as if electrocuted.
Purified muscle split apart inch by inch, turning into black ash; that hardened keratin layer peeled away and melted like candle wax.
The rain continued to fall, washing away those filthy remnants.
When the final layer of bloody scab faded— the once-invincible Son of Terror had vanished.
In his place was a young man covered in wounds, yet finally restored to human form.
Their breaths intertwined, forming a cloud of white mist.
Luo Shaotian slowly opened his eyes.
The blood-red hue within them had calmed, leaving only the dazed weakness of someone just waking from a long dream.
He stared blankly at what lay beneath him.
At the girl whose clothes were in tatters, whose skin was covered in bruises and bloodstains, yet who was still breathtakingly beautiful.
She had been forced to解除 her transformation magic, returning to her gray hair and heterochromatic eyes.
And in those pupils was reflected his own wretched face.
Memories surfaced like jagged reefs after the tide receded.
Killing… blood… monsters…
And that softness and burning heat that had forcibly dragged him back from a bottomless abyss.
“Gulp.”
His Adam’s apple rolled with difficulty.
Luo Shaotian trembled as he reached out, his fingertips hovering above the girl’s swollen, broken lips, yet he didn’t dare touch them.
As if one touch would shatter this dream.
“Lu… Lu?”
His voice was hoarse and rough, like sandpaper scraping the ground.
Hearing that name, Lin Yu had originally wanted to curse, “So you stupid bastard finally woke up, huh.”
But when the words reached her lips, they instead turned into a long sigh of relief.
“Idiot…”
However, this tender moment didn’t last long.
“Haaah—”
A yawn filled with boredom and laziness drifted in from afar, utterly out of place.
“So it’s this kind of big happy ending? Really… it’s hard to enjoy.”
The speaker was a woman who looked exactly like Lin Yu, yet had a completely different voice, temperament, expression, gaze, and attire.
Seraphine stood atop a pile of corpses, idly flicking her wrist.
“Pshk—”
She casually tore a pale spinal tendon straight out of a Deep Abyss Chanter’s corpse.
Pink light flowed in her palm, and the bloody tendon instantly melted and stretched, becoming a long whip covered in barbs.
“So it wasn’t that corruption devoured the pure magical girl, but that the corruption was purified in reverse?”
Seraphine extended her long tongue, licking the blood from the whip, contempt plainly visible in her eyes—as the exalted “Chosen of God” reverted back into a weak, incompetent mortal…
“…”
Since a broken toy couldn’t be fixed, it might as well be destroyed completely.
“How… ugly—”
The instant her words fell—
“Pa—!!!”
The whip lashed out, its shrill tearing sound bursting into a visible sonic boom cloud!
Like a venomous snake, it shot straight for Lin Yu’s throat!
“Watch out—!”
Almost purely by instinct.
Luo Shaotian didn’t even think—his body had already moved.
Even without divine power, even wracked with pain, he still lunged forward without hesitation.
He wanted to use his back to block that fatal strike for the girl beneath him.
Whether she was Lulu, or his best brother’s girlfriend—
He was the one who had messed everything up.
He was the one who had nearly put a green hat on his brother.
He was the one who had hurt her.
Since he was already a sinner, then he would repay it with this life—
“Pa!”
A crisp sound of grasping.
The expected agony never came.
Luo Shaotian froze.
He lowered his head, his pupils shrinking sharply.
Only to see— that Lin Yu, who had been protected beneath him, had somehow extended a slender arm, reaching past his shoulder, firmly—deathly— gripping that terrifying long whip in her palm!
“Zzz—”
The barbs pierced her palm, blood flowing freely, yet that hand didn’t budge an inch, as solid as cast iron.
“Eh…?”
In that moment, even Lin Yu herself was stunned.
She stared at her hand, her mind completely blank.
“I… I caught it?”
And— her body felt so hot…
A kind of power she had never experienced before—violent and chaotic—was surging through her veins!
It wasn’t the familiar pink spiritual energy.
Nor was it simple rage.
It was something…
deeper, more chaotic.
Before she could understand it, that power seized control of her body on its own.
She abruptly shoved Luo Shaotian off her, stood up, and then—
“What?!”
In the distance, Seraphine felt a tremendous force yank her, her entire body flying uncontrollably into the air!
“This is impossible—!”
For the first time, shock appeared on Seraphine’s face.
Even if she was a magical girl, she was only a C-rank ant! How could she possess such monstrous strength?!
But reality gave her no time to think.
Pulled by that force, Seraphine’s body was dragged uncontrollably toward Lin Yu.
And Lin Yu’s other hand had already clenched into a fist.
“Bang—”
The punch looked utterly ordinary—no light effects, no charging.
But at the instant the fist was about to make contact—
“Boom!”
A flame suddenly ignited on Lin Yu’s fist!
It wasn’t ordinary fire.
Its core burned blood-red, the outer flames danced in eerie ghostly blue, and its edges were wreathed in a dizzying purple mist.
“It’s nothing but—”
Seraphine instinctively tried to deploy a barrier.
“Puh—”
The fist pierced straight through the barrier with ease, gently pressing against her smooth forehead.
Like a light flick on the head.
But—
“Fwoosh—!”
That bizarre tricolor flame, as if finding the most delicious fuel, instantly spread from the point of contact, raging across Seraphine’s entire body!
“Ahhh—!”
Her shrill screams pierced the heavens.
Seraphine went mad, frantically beating at the flames on her body, even tearing at her own flesh with her claws, trying to rip the fire away.
“This… this is the scent of terror! No—there’s also curiosity?!”
“Why… why are these two completely opposite forces fused together?!”
“So disgusting… such a disgusting scent—aaah!”
Seraphine twisted and struggled in the flames.
Her perfect body began to collapse like melting wax.
And amid that agony, she finally seemed to realize something.
In those pink eyes, fear turned into deep resentment and despair.
“I smell it… the scent of deception!”
“So that’s it… so that’s it!!!”
She screamed hysterically, her voice becoming garbled as her vocal cords melted.
“It’s not purification… it’s devouring!”
“You are the vessel of 【Nothingness】! You were chosen by that damned birdman!”
“No wonder… no wonder that man fell so easily… no wonder you accepted it so readily…”
“He was used… they were used! I was used! We were all used!”
“What descent… what summoning… so it was all that disgusting bastard’s scheme?!”
“Hahahaha… how ridiculous! How ridiculous!”
Seraphine laughed wildly, tears and blood evaporating together.
She stared at Lin Yu, her gaze as if looking at something even more pitiful than herself.
“You think you’ve won?”
“I won’t let you succeed so easily!”
“Let me grant you all… pleasure—”
In her final moments, Seraphine went completely insane.
She stopped trying to extinguish the bone-devouring flames and instead spread her arms wide, tilted her head back, and let out a shrill scream toward the stormy sky.
“Zzzzzz—!!!”
The surrounding air was instantly ionized, crackling with sharp pops.
Then her cicada wings spread to their absolute limit.
Every golden eye on each wing opened at once, oozing thick, bloody tears.
Her body swelled violently, like an overinflated balloon!
Countless fissures split open across her skin, blasting out blinding pink light!
That light was not holy—it was filled with destructive intent.
“Ultimate death… ultimate… pleasure—”
“Voom—!!!”
A terrifying energy fluctuation erupted from her body’s center—
“Not good—!!!”
From afar, Li Qing screamed in terror.
The power of this explosion would surely—
But in the next instant—
“Hoo…”
Lin Yu’s hand, as if guided by some invisible will, unconsciously closed gently.
“Crack.”
Seraphine froze.
As if someone had pressed the pause button.
The next second— her body, her soul, even the unfinished curse on her lips, all silently collapsed within that purple flame.
No explosion. No ashes.
Like a puddle of shapeless purple pus, she fell to the ground with a soft plop, then slowly flowed to Lin Yu’s feet.
Finally, it seeped into the earth and vanished.
The rain was still falling.
But inside the exhibition center, a deathly silence reigned.
In the distance, Li Qing—one arm severed—stared blankly at the scene.
She looked at the vanished puddle of pus, then at Lin Yu standing in the rain, still holding her punching stance, her face full of bewilderment.
Lin Yu didn’t move.
She lowered her head, seemingly frightened as well, staring blankly at her right hand, which was still faintly warm.
“Boom—!!!”
Suddenly, a pale bolt of lightning tore through the sky.
In the flash of that blinding light— Li Qing felt her heart skip a beat.
She didn’t know if it was an illusion.
But in that instant, Lin Yu’s reflection in the pooled water… did not show the shape of a girl.
Within that stretched, distorted black silhouette cast by light and shadow— there unfurled the unmistakable form of… an indescribable monster.
