Chapter 212: Medical Examination Results

Lin Yu walked into the lounge with an ashen face.

When he sat down, his hands were still trembling.

That item had been the final test.
And the hardest one.

His mind couldn’t help replaying what had just happened.

It had been a tiny room—barely three square meters.
The soundproofing was excellent.

Once the door was locked from the inside, it felt like being transported to another planet.

The furnishings were simple.
A single leather sofa.
A sink.
A trash can.

And on the white wall—
a poster of a stunning bikini model.

The bikini model wasn’t wearing a bikini.
But she was holding one up for him to see.

Unfortunately, she was European.

Did nothing for him.

Suppressing his discomfort, he spread a disposable medical sheet over the sofa.

Then, facing that wide-mouthed measuring cup, he carried out a completely joyless “solo assignment.”

After finishing, he had to sneak the cup of warm liquid into the metal transfer hatch in the wall like a thief.

With a click, he shut the inner panel and pressed the red call button.

“Haa…”

Lin Yu let out a long breath.

Thank heavens…

Thank heavens these mad scientists still had at least a shred of moral bottom line.

If they had forced him to transform into a magical girl and then repeat that whole procedure inside that little room…

They might as well have killed him.

The test results came back even faster than expected—only twenty-four hours later.

This time, they met in Dr. Reed’s private office.

Lin Xue and Sun Hui stood stiffly at the side like two guardian statues.

“Mr. Lin…”

Dr. Evelyn Reed crossed her long legs elegantly.
Her black silk stockings reflected a delicate sheen under the lights.

With a slight flick of her finger, a holographic report slid across the air and stopped in front of Lin Yu.

“The analysis results are out.”

“The situation is… more interesting than we anticipated.”

A faintly playful smile curved her lips.

“That thing you call the ‘Nurgle Curse’—for now, we’ve provisionally named it the [Ling-Anchor Purulent Scar Devourer].”

“The bad news is that it has already formed a deep integration with your psionic nervous system in your transformed state—like vines entwining a tree.”

“Conventional physical separation or energy purification methods… are essentially ineffective.”

“W-What?”

Lin Yu’s face drained of color instantly.
His voice trembled.

“Ineffective?! Does that mean I’m done for? I’m going to take this damn thing to the grave?!”

“Calm down, Mr. Lin.”

Dr. Reed adjusted her glasses.
A cold gleam flashed across the lenses.

“I said conventional methods are ineffective.”

“And I have never been one to follow conventions.”

“For your particular case, I’ve found a very interesting therapeutic approach.”

She paused and leaned slightly forward.
Her blue eyes locked onto him like a professor questioning a particularly slow student.

“Before that, Mr. Lin, answer me a basic question.”

“Do you know how the common cold is cured?”

“Huh? A cold?”

Lin Yu frowned, completely unable to follow her train of thought.

“Medicine, I guess? I usually drink a couple of packets of cold meds. If it’s worse, maybe some antibiotics… drink hot water, wrap up in a blanket, sleep it off for a few days?”

“Heh… such an adorable and naïve answer.”

Dr. Reed gave a soft laugh and wagged her slender index finger.

“Wrong.”

“A cold is never cured by medicine.”

“At most, drugs suppress the symptoms—so you can sleep better while you’re feverish and sniffling.”

Her expression turned serious.

“The one that truly kills the virus and makes you recover… is always your own immune system.”

Lin Yu blinked, half-understanding.

“So… what does that have to do with the freaky thing inside me?”

“Everything.”

Dr. Reed’s gaze sharpened.

“Consider your so-called curse as a severe cold of your [Phasic Spirit Body].”

“If it’s a cold, then the treatment logic becomes clear.”

She raised two slender fingers.

“First—pharmaceutical intervention to relieve symptoms.”
“Second—rely on the host to strengthen immunity.”

“Ohhh!”

Lin Yu slapped his thigh.

“As expected of a PhD! Now I get it!”

“You’re saying you’ll prescribe me some strong painkillers, then I go home and train like crazy—get buff and build up my body, right?”

“Regarding medication, I have indeed formulated a specialized inhibitor using available materials.”

Dr. Reed nodded.

“It can effectively block the transmission of pain signals, so your transformation won’t be as agonizing.”

Then the corner of her lips curved into a faintly wicked smile.

“However… it has a tiny little side effect.”

Lin Yu’s heart skipped.

“S-Side effect?”

“It’s nothing serious.”

She waved her hand casually.

“You’ll just… bleed a little.”

“B-Bleed?!”

Lin Yu instinctively covered himself.

“Not like blood pouring from my seven orifices, right? Or full-body spray? I won’t die of blood loss on the spot, will I?!”

“Oh, don’t be so dramatic. Be more manly.”

Dr. Reed seemed amused by his panic.

“It’s not your original body’s blood.”

“It’s an energy overflow phenomenon from your psionic shell under pharmacological stimulation.”

“Visually, it may resemble bleeding—but it is absolutely non-lethal. I guarantee it.”

“O-Okay…”

Seeing her confident expression, Lin Yu could only swallow his anxiety.

Better to bleed than die of pain.
As long as it doesn’t scar…

Wait.
Magical girl bodies probably don’t scar, right?

“Medication is merely auxiliary.”

Dr. Reed’s tone shifted.

“Now for the real focus.”

“Regarding strengthening immunity—”

“Oh, I’ve got that covered! I’ll start intense workouts immediately! Five kilometers a day! A hundred push-ups!”

Lin Yu answered eagerly.

“No.”

Dr. Reed mercilessly crushed his enthusiasm.

“Purely physical training is useless.”

“Mr. Lin, we observed your entire transformation process and all physiological data.”

“We discovered a very… metaphysical phenomenon.”

She frowned slightly, clearly struggling to describe something unscientific in scientific terms.

“When you transform or activate abilities, an extremely unique form of energy flows continuously from the core in your chest—that gray crystal—into your body.”

“If we must use a biological analogy for an immune system, then that energy is what stabilizes your magical body, repairs damage, and even purifies corruption.”

“In other words…”

Dr. Reed pointed lightly toward his heart.

“To strengthen immunity and completely eradicate the virus within you, you must increase the intensity and purity of that energy.”

“Energy? You mean psionic power?”

“Yes—and no.”

She shook her head, rare helplessness flashing across her face.

“Unfortunately, I am a thorough materialist.”

“Under my microscope, a cell is a cell. A gene is a gene.”

“But I cannot analyze the essence of your power.”

“It defies physical laws. It violates biological common sense.”

She sighed and looked at him with complicated eyes.

“Based on my hypothesis, the core driving force behind your so-called magical girl power… is something profoundly idealistic.”

“Idealistic…”

“Yes.”

“Belief. Emotion. Willpower.”

“Or something even more intangible.”

She spread her hands slightly.

“In this field, I am not the expert.”

“So as for how to strengthen that idealistic power—”

“I suggest you return to your own circle… and consult a professional.”
