Join the ServerThe stall owner readily agreed. “No problem, I’ll do it just as you say.”
Cutting the bones into strips made them much easier to carry in the bamboo basket. Then came the pig trotters, followed by the offal.
Altogether, it weighed dozens of catties.
Fortunately, she had practiced taekwondo in her previous life, so this weight was nothing. Anyone else would have struggled.
“Lin Qinghuan!”
Hearing the thunderous shout, Lin Qinghuan frowned impatiently.
Old Madam Lin had come this way after leaving Master Liu’s place, hoping to find a bargain.
She didn’t expect to see Lin Qinghuan at the meat stall, carrying a basket full of goods. How much had she bought? Her hard-earned money, this rebellious, spendthrift daughter!
When she got closer, she saw that the basket was filled with the cheapest parts of the pig, things that wouldn’t fetch a good price. Only then did she feel relieved.
“Oh, so you said you’d buy meat to eat, but you only bought this? I knew you couldn’t bear to spend the money.”
Relieved, she started with her sarcastic remarks again.
Lin Qinghuan gave her a calm smile, then shifted her gaze to the stall owner, watching as he handed her the tied-up slabs of pork belly.
“You’re wrong. I didn’t spare the money. I bought a full ten catties of pork.” She shot her a provocative smile and, before Old Madam Lin could react, grabbed the meat and slipped away.
Otherwise, with Old Madam Lin’s shamelessness, she wouldn’t hesitate to demand a share.
“Stop right there!”
But Old Madam Lin was old. To keep up with Lin Qinghuan, she’d need to be decades younger.
Lin Qinghuan planned to return to the ox cart, but then she passed a small stall that caught her attention.
It was a stall selling stones.
What made it worth a look was that the stones were all oddly shaped and came in various colors. They were quite pretty to look at.
“Miss, these stones are top-quality pigeon’s blood. I’ll give you a good price, how about five hundred coppers each?”
That was not a good deal. Five hundred coppers could buy ten catties of pork, plus a big pot of offal and ribs.
If she were buying them as collectibles, maybe. But just for play, it wasn’t worth it.
Lin Qinghuan picked up a blue stone, thinking it was just oddly shaped, when a prompt sounded in her mind.
[Detected a meteorite sand stone, buyback price thirty taels. Recycle?]
She hadn’t expected to find treasure just by looking at stones. This space was really something.
If only it were upgraded, then she could scan and instantly know which stones were worthless and which were treasures.
“How much for this one? Give me a fair price. If it’s reasonable, I’ll take it. But if you try to rip me off, no deal.”
The stall owner looked like a slick character. These stones couldn’t be eaten or used to ward off evil. Only someone with money to burn would buy them.
He hadn’t made a single sale all morning, and she was the first to ask.
Seeing that she was young and had bought so much meat, he thought she’d be easy to fool. But she turned out to be shrewd.
“Take it for fifty coppers. That’s my final price. Lower than that, I’d rather not sell.”
Considering the buyback was thirty taels, she’d still make a profit of over twenty-nine taels. Lin Qinghuan didn’t haggle. She fished out fifty coppers, paid the owner, and weighed the stone in her palm.
She had to admit, she couldn’t tell the difference between this stone and the pigeon’s blood one. So why was this one worth thirty taels?
