Chapter 50: A Curious Touch and a Fuming Promen

“Don’t move,” Theodore soothed Theresia, his hand slowly gliding over her cool, smooth dragon scales. “I’m just touching. I promise I won’t do anything else.”

At that moment, a question arose in his mind.

When Theresia transformed into her human form, her physical structure was indistinguishable from a female’s.

So, what about the sensitive areas of a female body—the ‘valleys’ and ‘peaks,’ so to speak—how did those manifest in her dragon form?

Was it her reverse scale?

He doubted Theresia would answer if he asked directly.

Make no mistake, he wasn’t planning anything untoward; he was simply curious, nothing more.

“What are you groping for?!” Theresia demanded, her voice laced with panic.

She would have preferred Theodore to roughly shoot her with a gun or pummel her scales with his fists, as he had before, rather than be touched so gently.

The sensation made her scalp prickle, stirring an indescribable feeling deep within her.

Theodore, with a righteous expression, declared, “I’m searching for your weak points. Look, your dragon scales are so hard; there must be some vulnerable, sensitive spots, right? Tell me where your sensitive points are in dragon form, and I’ll stop touching you.”

Theresia’s dragon temperature rapidly escalated. Could such words truly be uttered with such grandiosity?

Shameless! She would have phrased it more subtly!

“Don’t even think about it! Dragon form has no sensitive points; dragons are flawless! Give up on that idea. Let go of me, I’ll transform into my human form, and we can have another showdown. How about that?”

Theodore curled his lip. “Hmph, if you won’t tell me, I’ll find them myself. Just don’t thrash around.”

“Do you think I’ll listen to you?! Help! Someone is plotting against a dragon!”

“Heh, you can scream until your throat is hoarse, and no one will come to save you. Stop struggling.”

“Never!”

Theresia began to twist her massive dragon body relentlessly. Although Theodore remained firmly latched onto her, he clearly couldn’t completely immobilize her.

The two colossal figures, locked in an embrace, began to roll around the boss room. Of course, with their thick hides, Theresia and Theodore felt nothing, but the third party still in the room suffered immensely.

One either dies in silence or explodes from it. After enduring repeated crushing blows, Promen finally erupted.

“Hey, you two immature brats, even if you are the descendants of giants and dragons, you…”

“…are going too far!”

A voice, like thunder, boomed from within the pile of rubble. A massive wave of dark energy surged outward, causing both Theodore and Theresia to tremble.

A purple light intensified, revealing a gigantic demon ‘dinosaur,’ even larger than Theodore and Theresia, standing before them. Its cold, demonic eyes were fixed on them, conveying a single, lethal message: they must die!

With a bloodthirsty grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes, he spoke, “A giant and a black dragon, playing quite the game, aren’t we? Have I interrupted something?”

Theresia and Theodore: “…”

To be honest, both were a little bewildered. ‘Who are you, exactly?’ they thought.

Theresia whispered, “Theodore.”

“Hm?”

“How much longer are you going to hold me? Let go, quickly!”

“Tsk.” Theodore clicked his tongue. Holding Theresia in this form was quite comfortable. As for which was more comfortable, this or her human form… ‘Well, those three days were erased from my memory. I’ll have to compare them another time.’

Man and dragon quickly scrambled to their feet.

Theresia indignantly declared, “In just seven short years, Theodore, you’ve changed. You’ve become even more perverse.”

“I only changed in seven years,” Theodore said, a hint of guilt in his voice. “You, on the other hand, shattered all my reverence for you in three days. How do you account for that?”

Theresia retorted, “Don’t change the subject! You were definitely thinking something extremely perverted just now, weren’t you?”

“I only thought a little,” Theodore began to argue, “but I haven’t done anything! I asked those questions with an academic mindset.”

Theresia looked at Theodore with disdain. “If you actually did it, what then?! ‘Academic mindset,’ my foot! Is that what you call academia? Shameless! I only dare to say such things with the lights off!”

“If you had just obediently transformed into your human form, would I be like this?!” Theodore grumbled.

Theresia glared at Theodore. “Your thoughts are already repulsive, abominable, and sickening! Furthermore, I returned the money, which makes your current behavior even worse!”

“Shut up! Both of you, listen to me, or you’ll all die! Don’t you know basic etiquette?! You are the most ill-mannered dragon and giant I have ever seen! You drag down the standards of both races; I’m ashamed for your ancestors!”

The demon dinosaur, Promen, watched in incandescent rage as the two scoundrels dared to ignore him.

The demon’s sonic wave caused Theodore and Theresia’s expressions to contort.

This oversized demon dinosaur’s power seemed to surpass theirs.

And, wasn’t that magic mixed in with the sonic wave just now?

It felt a bit strange, far more potent than mere magic.

Theresia and Theodore exchanged a glance, falling silent.

Neither of them knew what this creature was. After all, the demon dinosaur before them looked vastly different from the Promen they knew.

Previously, Promen had been a comical character; how could he suddenly appear so imposing?

The demon dinosaur, meanwhile, continued his lengthy self-introduction:“Hmph, this should be the first time I’ve appeared before you in my true form. I am Promen, the Dark Acolyte, a great servitor created by the Dark Lord Saxon. I belong to a powerful race no less formidable than giants and dragons, and I, Promen, am the foremost among the Dark Acolytes—the great Dark Vanguard. From the Age of Gods to the era of the Dragon Alliance, countless giants and dragons have fallen by my hand. Stained with the blood of both great races, I am…”

“You’re the Black-Robed Gatekeeper?!” Theodore asked incredulously, interrupting him. “No way!”

Theresia also caught on, asking in disbelief, “Aren’t you a comedic character? What’s with this powerful appearance?!”

Promen: “…”

Had his previous persona been such a complete failure?

No, it couldn’t be his fault.

It was the fault of these two scoundrels. If not for them, his awe-inspiring and dominant presence would have already spread throughout the streets and alleys of the outside world.

“I will kill you.”

Promen expressed his current mood with a simple four-word declaration. For a talkative individual like him, such brevity spoke volumes about his emotional state.

Upon learning that the opponent was Promen, Theodore’s expression remained calm. Although the other party’s strength was clearly superior, he showed no panic. Instead, he extended a hand and said, “Wait a moment, I’ll show you something good.”

With that, he produced a contract.

The contract automatically expanded to a size perfectly suited for a giant to hold, and Theodore presented it to Promen.

Promen read the words aloud, “I, Promen, under the witness of the Dragon God, willingly become Theodore’s servant, shall not defy any of Theodore’s commands, and must diligently…”

As the content was gradually read, Promen’s demonic face contorted into a look of utter collapse.

“Invalid! Despicable! You tricked me into signing this when I was drunk! Invalid!”

A roar of despair erupted from Promen’s mouth. If it were an ordinary contract, he could resist, but this one involved a deity. Unless the Dark Lord Saxon intervened, he would be forced to become Theodore’s s*ave.

“Stand at attention!”

Promen instinctively followed Theodore’s command.

“Hands out.”

He extended his hands.

“Stick out your tongue!”

He stuck out his tongue.

“Bark like a dog!”

“Woof woof.”

Theodore was the first to realize something was amiss. While the first two commands were his, the subsequent ones were Theresia’s excited mischief, yet a despondent Promen still complied.

He didn’t recall the contract mentioning Theresia sharing joint property with him, and why did the contract’s power feel so… absent?

Promen, meanwhile, numbly followed the commands while contemplating his bleak future.

‘This damned contract, this damned Dragon God, this damned divine power restraint… wait, divine power restraint?’

He hadn’t felt any divine power restraint from the contract.

Promen finally noticed that it had been Theresia issuing commands to him all along.

He immediately turned red with fury.

‘Hiss…’

‘Wait a minute, something even more important. I don’t think I felt anything when that kid gave commands either.’

Promen ignored Theresia’s commands and silently stood up, looking at Theodore, who was repeatedly examining the contract.

At this moment, Promen’s silent, imposing presence successfully intimidated Theresia, causing her voice to grow fainter as she edged closer to Theodore.

Promen, expressionless, spoke to Theodore, “Kid, give me another command, any command will do.”

Theodore’s expression stiffened. He had an unsettling suspicion: could the contract have expired?

‘No way,’ he thought. ‘Old Patriarch himself gave it to me, saying it was a rare treasure of the dragon race.’

Tentatively, Theodore said to Promen, “I command you to walk on your head right now.”

No matter how absurd the command, if the contract was valid, the contracted party would find a way to complete it, even if it defied biological capabilities, leading to strange actions.

However, Promen remained quietly in place. He closed his eyes, concentrating on feeling the command’s effect on his body.

Nothing. There was nothing. There was no divine contract at all!

‘Ah, great Lord Saxon, are you protecting me?!

At the same time, Theodore and Theresia exchanged a silent glance. In that instant, they understood each other perfectly.

Promen, ecstatic, shouted at the two creatures before him, “Did you see that?! The contract has no effect on me!”

Although the recipients of his joyous outburst were questionable, Theodore and Theresia applauded with great enthusiasm.

“We saw it, congratulations, congratulations.”

“That’s wonderful, Promen.”

Promen swelled with pride amidst the applause, and then… a massive stone spear struck him heavily on the forehead, splitting his head open, while two dragon claws tore at his chest.

Promen was torn limb from limb.

He passed away peacefully.

Theresia sighed in relief, immediately complaining, “Phew, that’s done. But wait, what happened with you?”

Theodore was equally bewildered, flipping through the scroll. The divine seal, symbolizing the Dragon God, still glowed, so why had it been ineffective?

“Old Patriarch gave it to me. By rights, it shouldn’t be like this.”

“The Old Patriarch gave it? Then it really shouldn’t be ineffective. Did you offend him before you left?”

Although overthrowing the Old Patriarch was her life’s goal, the Old Patriarch’s credibility was indeed top-tier among dragons, so Theresia was also puzzled.

“Did I offend him?”

Theodore thought back; it seemed he hadn’t. But the enemy was dealt with, and he could directly ask the Old Patriarch about it later.

Next, Theodore’s eyes glinted. Theresia was still distracted by the previous incident and was standing very close to him.

He had been forced to let go earlier, but now such a perfect opportunity had presented itself.

‘Then I shall…’

Theodore continued to feign contemplation, subtly moving closer to Theresia.

Theresia was indeed still preoccupied with Promen’s demise, but she soon realized that a common enemy had been dealt with, which meant she and Theodore…

She suddenly turned to look at Theodore, only to find his hands slowly reaching for her.

Theresia: “…”

Theodore: “…”

The giant and the dragon once again wrestled together.

“Why did you regain your senses at precisely this moment!” Theodore exclaimed.

“Because I sensed a wicked commoner plotting against me!” Theresia retorted.

During their struggle, they suddenly noticed Promen’s stony remnants, his body, which had been reduced to rubble, beginning to coalesce under an unknown force.

Man and dragon froze, staring blankly as Promen revived in the blink of an eye.

The resurrected Promen was looking at them with a very ominous gaze.

Theodore and Theresia exchanged a look, arriving at the same conclusion:

“Run!”

The opponent’s strength, judging by his performance just now, far surpassed theirs, not to mention his abnormal self-healing ability.

But Promen was faster than them.

It was hard to imagine how such a massive body could appear before Theodore and Theresia with almost a flash-like speed.

Two massive claws swung towards Theodore and Theresia.

Boom!

The giant and the dragon, both with equally enormous bodies, were swatted away like tennis balls.

The wall crumbled like rotten tofu.

Meanwhile, at Aesop and Alicia’s battlefield.

“Come, everyone, please drink.” Alicia offered.

“Oh, Miss, your coffee is truly delicious. I’ve never tasted this flavor before.” A raid team member commented.

“I brought it from my tribe; it rarely circulates outside.” Alicia explained.

“Hmm? Miss, your coffee is much darker than ours.” Another raid team member observed.

“That’s because ours is very bitter. You might not be used to it, so the proportions are different.” Alicia replied.

“Hey, I’m not afraid of bitterness at all. Let me try some.” A raid team member said.

“Of course, I’ll pour you a cup.” Alicia said politely.

“Wow, that’s so bitter!” The raid team member exclaimed.

“Hahaha, fool, of course it’s bitter. You’ve never had authentic barbarian food, have you?” Another raid team member scoffed.

Aesop, tied up like a dumpling with two large bumps on his head, watched the cheerful scene with an expressionless face.

Aesop and Alicia had been defeated after a period of stalling. There was no helping it; although they were both strong, the thirty raid team members were elites hand-picked and heavily invested in by Theresia from across the entire Maze City.

After the initial surprise, they quickly figured out Aesop and Alicia’s characteristics, treating them like maze bosses to be conquered.

Because Aesop and Alicia had held back, the raid team members spent more time capturing them alive.

Aesop could understand being treated with humiliation as a loser.

But looking at Alicia, and then at himself…

This world, so focused on appearances, was truly despair-inducing.

The raid team members indeed needed to rendezvous with Theresia, but because the maze structure had undergone massive changes, with dead ends everywhere, they had sent specialists to figure out the next move.

The remaining members began to drink the coffee Alicia had brewed.

Finally, a raid team member remembered the person sitting nearby. “Miss Alicia, what is your relationship with that insufferable man over there?”

Alicia answered without hesitation, “He is the man I have chosen to bear children with.”

Aesop’s inner God of Cookery soul blazed, and he cried out, “I am not! I am a man who dedicates the rest of his life to culinary arts and ingredients!”

The raid team member glanced at Aesop and said, “Miss, it seems he’s not very willing.”

Alicia was completely unfazed by these words. She simply said softly, “It’s fine. I’ll make him willing. After all, I am a barbarian.”

Her voice was remarkably firm.

A grizzled man, knowledgeable about barbarians, sighed. “Ah, Miss Alicia, you are so elegant and lovely. Why don’t you choose someone else? Look, we have many strong young men here with bloodline power. They are much better than this ungrateful fellow.”

Alicia blinked, shook her head, and politely said, “I apologize, but I met Aesop first. You know, barbarians are very persistent when it comes to the opposite s*x they’ve set their sights on. Plus, Aesop has a huge advantage: he’s an amazing cook.”

“Is that so?” A raid team member shouted at Aesop. “Hey, I hear you’re a good cook? Make us a meal, and we’ll let you go.”

Aesop sneered, turning his head away. “Hmph, do you think I would cook for my enemies?”

“I knew Lady Alicia was just being polite when she said that.” A raid team member remarked.

“Exactly. He’s so insufferable, I doubt his cooking is any good either.” Another raid team member added.

Aesop: “…Let me go.”

“Huh?” A raid team member questioned.

Aesop’s domineering aura burst forth. “Let me go! And return my cooking utensils! It’s time for me to use over twenty years of accumulated culinary skill to silence you commoners!”

The raid team members complied, though they did take some precautions.

However, to their astonishment, Aesop showed no intention of pulling any tricks.

Instead, he wholeheartedly immersed himself in cooking. In just a short while, the aroma filled the entire space.

The entire raid team was astonished.

“Holy smokes, I didn’t realize this kid actually had some talent.”

“Hmph, come and eat.” Aesop struck the side of the pot with a large ladle, looking at the raid team members with the disdain of a peerless master. “Let me conquer your taste buds!”

Alicia, meanwhile, had already divided the delicious food onto plates. Just as everyone was about to feast…

Boom! The wall shattered.

Aesop’s meal, intended to conquer his enemies, and all his cooking tools were crushed beneath the rubble.

“…No!!!”

Aesop’s soul screamed!

The raid team members only mourned the loss of the food for a second before their attention was seized by the dragon and giant flying past them.

Alicia didn’t even have time to build rapport with Aesop. She stared in astonishment at the giant.

“Theodore?”

The two behemoths clearly hadn’t flown backward on their own. So, what had thrown them?

The raid team members and Alicia turned to look, only to find a terrifying creature with black, stony skin and a glowing purplish-black back, like an oversized lizard standing on two legs, staring in their direction with icy eyes.

Run!

This was the first reaction of any normal person.

“I’ll kill you!”

This was the reaction of a culinary fanatic. Aesop grabbed two curved knives, ready to launch a human charge against Promen.

Alicia used a hand chop to cure this abnormal reaction.

She hoisted Aesop onto her shoulder and, along with the raid team members, quickly fled through the broken wall.
