Join the ServerAlicia and Theresia engaged in their own conversation, completely absorbed.
Theodore, the one who had facilitated their meeting, could only watch this beautiful scene unfold.
It was then that he noticed a small head peeking out, subtly glancing their way every now and then.
He cast a look at Alicia and Theresia, who were utterly oblivious, and then walked directly towards the child.
He approached the little girl whose head barely reached his knees.
Theodore knelt down and asked, “Hello, are you looking for Saintess Alicia?”
The little girl hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Yes,” she replied.
“Is there something you need?” Theodore asked, his curiosity piqued.
The little girl fiddled with her fingers. “My mom and dad are very busy tonight, so for the Kiss of Light later, I wanted to exchange blessings with Sister Alicia.”
“That might be a little difficult.”
Theodore was well aware of Alicia’s schedule for the day. It was already quite a feat that she had managed to spare time for such a lengthy chat with Theresia. She had several other events to attend that evening and would likely be busy until very late.
“Oh, I see.”
The little girl’s face visibly drooped. Theodore gently patted her head. “Perhaps it would be better to find a good friend or a family member instead.”
Upon hearing this, the little girl secretly glanced towards Theresia, then asked with a hint of expectation, “Then can I ask that big sister to exchange blessings with me?”
Theodore followed the little girl’s gaze to Theresia, then looked back at the child. “Why do you want that big sister? This must be your first time meeting her, right?”
The little girl excitedly explained, “Because I just saw the nun sister bestowing blessings on everyone. She’s so beautiful and so gentle. I want a nun sister like her to exchange the Kiss of Light with me.”
Theodore looked at Theresia thoughtfully. A sudden idea struck him.
“However, this nun sister is attending the Kiss of Light ceremony for the first time. She might be very shy and refuse to participate with you.”
“What should I do then?” the little girl asked, disappointed.
“But it’s not impossible. You just need to…”
Theodore whispered a few words into the little girl’s ear. Her eyes immediately sparkled, and after nodding vigorously, she ran off.
‘Ah, my teacher’s little fangirl,’ Theresia mused. ‘I’m sorry, but your teacher isn’t quite so gentle and well-mannered now.’
Alicia’s eyes shimmered with stars as she gazed longingly in the direction of Dragon Island. “That legendary Saint Dragon isn’t just a character in storybooks; she truly exists. In fact, my reason for joining the church was my longing to one day meet Lord Moria in person.”
Theresia tactfully responded, “Sometimes legends are historical embellishments by dragons, so it’s best not to expect too much. After all, no one can withstand the long-term trials with human strength.
‘Moria is not a perfect creature, and the books only record her good side.’
“But after meeting you, Theresia, even if Lord Moria isn’t absolutely perfect, she is still worthy of my expectations.”
Alicia suddenly clasped Theresia’s hand. In Theresia’s startled gaze, she leaned closer, her deep blue eyes fixed intently on Theresia, creating immense pressure.
“Theresia, you completely embody my expectations for Lord Moria! Perhaps this is the legacy of the Saint Dragon!”
“No, I’m just faking it,” Theresia swallowed, unwilling to shatter Alicia’s innocent and romantic demeanor.
“Hahaha, really? Perhaps I’ve just been influenced by the atmosphere of the City of Light.”
“It’s wonderful to have your approval, Theresia. Oh, Theresia, are you truly not considering His Holiness the Pope’s proposal?!”
Theresia was already somewhat overwhelmed by Alicia’s radiant enthusiasm, which shone like the sun. “What?”
Alicia excitedly declared, “Become the Saint Dragon, Theresia! I’m incredibly excited to work with you! Together, we can carry on Lord Moria’s spirit and leave our mark for future generations!”
Theresia was utterly stunned. She wanted to refuse outright, but she couldn’t bear Alicia’s expectant gaze. Her eyes pleaded with Theodore, who stood nearby.
Theodore blinked, mouthing the words, “I need a small reward.”
Although she didn’t know what the reward would be, Theodore, having just reached an agreement, likely wouldn’t do anything too outrageous.
Theresia nodded.
Theodore immediately interjected, “Alicia, while this might dampen the mood a bit, due to Theresia’s unique nature, such an arrangement means Theresia cannot give you any guarantees.”
“I see.”
Alicia, having become the Saintess of the Holy Light Church, possessed not only noble character but also considerable political acumen. Thus, she understood Theodore’s meaning. After all, Theresia was the only known Black Dragon currently existing in the world.
Her arrangements certainly couldn’t be taken lightly.
“I understand!”
Just as Theodore and Theresia breathed a sigh of relief, Alicia clenched her small fists and declared with renewed vigor, “Mia recently has plans to visit Dragon Island, and I’ll be going with her! I’ll put in my utmost effort to convince the Old Patriarch to agree to you, Theresia, becoming the Saint Dragon! That way, I can work with you!”
‘No, I don’t want to be the Saint Dragon, and I certainly don’t want to work.’
Alicia, despite being such an innocent and cheerful person, couldn’t go three sentences without mentioning work. She was such a workaholic. Theresia knew, without a doubt, that if she became the Saint Dragon, she would probably die of exhaustion at a desk.
If she was going to work herself to death for others, she would much rather lie in bed and enjoy all the perks of Dragon Island!
If Theodore knew Theresia’s current thoughts, he would undoubtedly ensure Theresia was appointed as the Saint Dragon.
However, he was unaware, so after a brief pause, he said, “Then it depends on your efforts, Alicia.”
‘After all, even if the Old Patriarch had an intention, he would still consult with him and Theresia. He could just reject it then.’
“Yes, yes. But compared to me, I think other dragons might be more suitable to be the Saint Dragon.”
Theresia once again offered up her good friend. “She’s my classmate, my best friend, and a White Dragon just like Teacher Moria! She’s pure-hearted, kind, and innocent. Aside from eating a little too much, she absolutely meets your requirements, Alicia.”
“And I have a premonition that you two will be a perfect match. Trust me. She is your true love dragon! Her name is Catherine. Remember to look for her once you’re on Dragon Island.”
“Mhm, mhm.” Alicia nodded like a pecking chick, her eyes filled with eagerness for the beautiful meeting to come.
Alicia didn’t chat for too long before leaving, as she still had much work to do that day.
Theresia smiled as she watched her depart. Only when Alicia’s figure disappeared did she let out a heavy sigh of relief.
Just as she was about to signal Theodore to make a quick escape, she saw a little girl, her face beaming with excitement, holding a wreath made of Flowers of Light, skipping towards her.
The little girl stopped in front of her, her rosy cheeks panting for a few breaths. Then she held up the wreath high and said to Theresia, “Nun sister, this is for you.”
“Hmm? Oh, uh, thank you. May the gods bless you.”
A somewhat flustered Theresia reached out to take the wreath, but the little girl’s wrist trembled slightly, and her eyes sparkled as she looked at Theresia.
Theresia: ‘…’
She seemed to understand. She knelt down and bowed her head before the little girl.
Immediately, she felt the wreath being placed upon her head.
Theodore applauded enthusiastically from the side, enjoying the spectacle. “Congratulations, Sister! You’ve been crowned queen!”
Theresia’s lips twitched slightly, but the little girl said with genuine sincerity, “Nun sister, you’re already very pretty, but with the wreath, you’re even more beautiful.”
‘If you had said something like ‘cool’ or ‘majestic,’ I would have been even happier.’ However, since the person saying it was a very cute little girl, Theresia decided to forgive her and accept the compliment gracefully.
“Nun sister, there’s a very important festival event tonight, but my mom and dad can’t come with me. Could you accompany me to complete the ceremony? It’s about a whole year’s luck!”
Theresia wasn’t too worried about official festivals, so she nodded and agreed.
The little girl’s eyes sparkled as she confirmed the time and place, then excitedly ran off.
Theresia: ‘She didn’t even ask what the festival event was or what needed to be done.’
“I know. I’ll take you there when the time comes. It’s quite simple; just do what everyone else there does.”
Theresia nodded. With other people present, it shouldn’t be a trap. Subsequently, the two began to stroll aimlessly. Theresia offered her assessment of Alicia: “Setting aside her overly dazzling enthusiasm, that Saintess in white stockings is absolutely amazing!”
“Theodore, imagine the pleasure of coming home every day to be served by such a lively, cheerful, beautiful, generous, gentle, and considerate young woman.”
Watching Theresia, who was clearly longing for such a life and making frantic hints at him, Theodore nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Now, go declare your determination to Alicia to become the Saint Dragon. She definitely wouldn’t mind adding that to her job description. Go on, go on.”
Theresia immediately puffed out her cheeks in annoyance. “You’re a blockhead, an uncarvable piece of rotten wood!”
“By the way, where are you going?”
Since earlier, Theodore had been leading the way. Theresia, having no particular destination, had simply followed along.
But she suddenly noticed that fewer and fewer pedestrians were around, and the sounds of the bustling city gradually faded. Theodore was leading them into an increasingly secluded area.
“This should be enough,” Theodore said, looking around. Even the City of Light, renowned for its eternal brightness, could not avoid having dark alleys.
There were no other pedestrians here; it was a very suitable spot.
Theodore looked at Theresia, whose sense of security had plummeted, and asked, “Alright, do you remember that small request I made earlier?”
Theresia surveyed her surroundings, her guard fully up. She began to feign confusion. “Huh? Was there? I don’t know anything about it. I didn’t hear them say anything. Do you have it in writing?”
Suddenly, Theodore grabbed her wrist, pushing her against the wall. He loomed over her, looking down.
“Trying to renege now won’t do. This time, my memory hasn’t been erased; my eyes remember it clearly. Do you want to ruin your credibility, Theresia? You’re making it very difficult for me. Should I really trust some of your proposals and keep my promises?”
“It was just a small request! I can’t agree to anything too excessive! It’s like you helped me pick up a sesame seed, but you’re asking for a watermelon as payment. That’s completely unreasonable!” Theresia protested.
She swung her small fists in the confined space, lightly tapping Theodore’s chest. Depending on Theodore’s next answer, the power of that punch could pierce the City of Light’s walls!
“Of course, I’m not that unreasonable. So, what I’m asking for is also very simple.”
Feeling Theresia’s small fists like a massage, Theodore lifted Theresia’s chin, looking directly into her startled eyes.
Then, to her astonishment, he kissed her lips.
