Join the ServerThe Elf Queen spoke with a regal poise. “So, that brazen individual who once treated you as a s*ave has actually rendered you so much assistance, Lola.”
Lola, already swayed by Samuel, nodded earnestly. “Indeed. Without her, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”
This was the truth, and Lola’s words conveyed genuine emotion.
While grateful to her old friends, this did not prevent the Elf Queen from teasing them.
The Elf Queen mused, “It seems past transgressions can be written off, then. Initially, I had planned to track Samuel down, capture her, force her to sign a s*ave contract, and have her serve you as a s*ave for a time, Lola.”
Lola and Samuel were aghast.
Noting Lola’s visible wavering, the Elf Queen twisted the knife further. “Naturally, all possessions of your s*ave would belong to her master. And since Samuel has exploited you for so many years, Lola, I’m certain the accumulated wealth of a thousand-year-old witch would more than compensate for your losses.”
This cunning maneuver by the Elf Queen caught both of them completely off guard.
In an instant, the seemingly unbreakable alliance between the two shattered, replaced by suspicion and estrangement.
‘Wow, to make Samuel my servant?! And claim all her possessions as my own!’ Lola thought, her eyes wide.
Lola’s entire body trembled. Her last vestiges of conscience and contractual integrity made her put up a final struggle. “Wouldn’t that be a little difficult? After all, she’s an incredibly powerful alchemist.”
The Elf Queen stated with utmost confidence, “Not to worry, my dear. Your beloved mother is an incredibly powerful mage herself. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a proper fight; perhaps Samuel can provide some entertainment. You only need to tell me Samuel’s location. For instance, is she currently, perhaps, on your person?”
The Elf Queen exuded an overwhelming aura, as if she held the sun and moon in her grasp and plucked stars from the sky—an undeniable power that profoundly rattled Lola’s young mind.
By simply betraying Samuel, Lola could now gain the strongest alchemist as a s*ave and seize all her immense wealth!
Samuel, beads of cold sweat forming on her brow, exclaimed, “Calm down, Lola! Distant water cannot quench a nearby fire; you must resist the temptation. We’ve signed a contract, Lola, a contract, a contract, a contract!”
Samuel sighed deeply. ‘You’re so easily swayed; doesn’t that woman opposite us realize it?’
‘And you’re truly a ‘great’ genius!’
The Elf Queen watched with amusement as the small boat of friendship between Samuel and Lola utterly capsized. *Heh heh heh*, ‘What league are you two even in?’ she thought.
Seeing that the small boat was already taking on water and unwilling to sink with it, Samuel immediately leaped out of Lola’s ear. After three somersaults in the air, she landed perfectly between Lola and the communication crystal, simultaneously enlarging herself to the size of a human palm.
Lola stammered, completely flustered, “You, you, why did you jump out?”
Samuel looked at Lola, speechless. ‘Seriously, you have the nerve to ask?’
‘Probably to prevent your rapidly dwindling conscience from completely breaking.’
Lola averted her gaze guiltily. “No, not at all! I’m incredibly resolute!”
The Elf Queen said profoundly, “Samuel, you finally face me. Up until now, you’ve hung up on my communication requests 356 times! This matter cannot simply be overlooked. What do you think of my earlier proposal? Otherwise, I might just decide to personally apprehend you.”
Samuel, well aware of how much her friend preferred to stay home, didn’t believe a single word. “You? In two thousand years, have you even left the Elf Imperial Palace except for Council meetings? You’d rather sacrifice divine power for ultra-long-range magical projections than move a single foot. Or have you gotten too big for your britches, thinking you can capture me with a magical projection?”
The Elf Queen rose to her feet, speaking with immense pressure. “I can return to the world for my child!”
Samuel looked at the Elf Queen with a dead-fish stare. “I’ll cut off supplies.”
The Elf Queen’s body stiffened slightly. “I, I can find someone else.”
“Oh-ho-ho, really? You’ll find someone else?” Samuel asked playfully, eyeing the Elf Queen. “How about your beloved daughter?”
The Elf Queen began to waver, and Samuel pressed her advantage. “Oh, Elf Queen, you wouldn’t want your daughter to know about *that* hobby of yours, would you?”
Watching the Elf Queen fall silent, Samuel’s heart swelled with delight. ‘Hahaha, what good is cunning if you’re the one in my hand, the challenger!’
Curious, Lola pulled Samuel into her arms. “Mother, I would never say anything about your affairs! What’s wrong?”
The Elf Queen cast a questioning glance at her daughter. “It’s nothing important. Knowing too much won’t do you any good.”
Reid, holding little Celes in his arms, coughed. The Elf Queen said, “My daughter has done so much, I am!
After years of dealings, Samuel and the Elf Queen exchanged a single glance. “I’ll make up for the supply cut-off during this period.”
“Pleasure working with you.”
“Pleasure working with you.”
Lola’s eyes widened, witnessing the exchange happening right before her. It was her mission to assemble them, yet she knew nothing. Was this appropriate?!
Turning to her daughter, the Elf Queen decided it was time to discuss serious matters.
As elves, whose lifespan rivaled that of the dragon race, they possessed no less knowledge than the dragons. In the past, elves had frequently ventured into labyrinths in search of relics. However, Lola did not possess Promen.
Therefore, the Elf Queen had no means to delve deeper into the truth of divine power. However, she intended to clarify this privately with Samuel.
The description certainly matched the giants, a race believed to have long been extinct.
Giants were once a formidable presence, crushing other races to the point of breathless despair, especially their Dragon Knights. Had it not been for the fact that the Giant Dragon Knights numbered less than a single hand’s worth by the end of the Dragon Alliance, the elves would not have taken over the era.
The Elf Queen spoke gravely. “Lola, I have a task for you.”
Lola nodded vigorously. “Yes, Mother, please tell me.”
“Stay by Theresia’s side, and gather intelligence on their next move. Then, try to remain with them as much as possible, and inquire of the giant named Theodore: where he came from, and how many of his kin still remain.”
The Elf Queen no longer cared if this seemed overly deliberate. This was a critical question, one that even divine power could momentarily be set aside for.
Compared to the dragon race, this was no longer mere deception of the dragons; this was outright, blatant treachery.
Lola nodded firmly. “Understood. I guarantee mission completion!”
****
Lola shivered slightly and exited the communication room.
Samuel let out a long breath. “Good, though it didn’t go exactly as expected, we still achieved our objective.”
Lola looked somewhat bewildered. “Achieved our objective?”
Samuel glanced at Lola. “Though it was due to someone else’s reasons, by relaying the message to that old woman, Lola, you can at least take a tenth of the credit.”
Lola huffed indignantly. “Speaking disrespectfully of my mother, I should have sold you right then!”
Samuel merely cast Lola a look, then casually tossed a sparkling, star-dusted crystal ball to her.
“Your reward. As much as I’d love to continue our delightful time together, little Lola, I shouldn’t keep that old woman waiting too long. Bye-bye.”
With that, Samuel, hidden within Lola’s ear, vanished into thin air.
Lola felt a surge of helplessness at the woman’s swift departure, for she had spotted her mission target.
Recalling her mother’s instructions, Lola clenched her small fists and marched menacingly towards Theodore.
Having just concluded their communication with the Old Patriarch, Theodore and Theresia emerged from the communication room together. They then saw a small elf, approaching Theodore directly with an unfriendly demeanor.
“What’s up?” Theodore asked.
Lola did not answer. Instead, she meticulously scrutinized him from head to toe, then took a deep breath. “What is your mother’s surname?”
Theodore’s expression remained blank.
“Pfft!”
Theresia burst into impolite laughter, clutching her stomach. Then, she noticed Larkin approaching them, his expression heavy with concern. He stopped directly in front of her.
His eyes fixed intently on Theresia.
In his gaze, Theresia saw Larkin’s unwavering determination, his ardent desire, and his desperate plea.
Then, she heard his forceful declaration: “Theresia, become the Overlord Dragon of the Empire!”
Theresia’s eyes widened in utter shock.
This time, it was Theodore’s turn to roar with laughter.
