Chapter 88: The Uninvited Feast

Standing before me were four men—the very same representatives who had come from Clearwater Port to Breezewind Town for negotiations.

I couldn’t quite recall their names, though the plumpest among them seemed to be a man named Tim.

These men wielded significant power, overseeing Clearwater Port’s grain supplies, transportation, entertainment industry, and military might.

Yet, it was truly strange. Hadn’t these very men been brought here yesterday, only to be thoroughly humiliated? How was it that they now appeared to be esteemed guests?

Suddenly, I recalled the fragments of conversation I had overheard just moments ago at the door.

‘Another act?’

“Hmm?”

One of the men narrowed his eyes, his smile heavy with drink as he appraised me.

Then, he bellowed,

“Hey, hey, hey! Little maid, where are your manners? Come over here and pour us some drinks!”

“Exactly! What’s with the daze? We’re already parched for wine!”

“Come on, sit on my lap! Let me show you some good affection!”

They seemed to be completely inebriated, for despite the short distance, none of them recognized me. Instead, they mistook me for one of the serving girls, shouting their demands without an ounce of restraint.

I glanced around, noticing that the vast reception hall contained only these four men. Governor Sherlock was nowhere to be seen.

‘Where was he? Why had he summoned me here?’

Despite my confusion, I suppressed my suspicions and slowly approached the wealthy merchants.

“Um… Excuse me, where is Lord Sherlock?”

Under the weight of my tension and unease, my voice involuntarily softened, sounding meek and easily intimidated.

“The Governor?”

One of the men chuckled, shaking his head.

“Hehehe… I don’t know, I don’t know. Why does a serving girl like you care about him? Come here and entertain me!”

A clumsy, corpulent man reached out to me, his breath reeking of alcohol. I sharply recoiled, narrowly evading his disgusting hand.

“Oh! You dare to dodge me, you little hussy… are you looking for trouble?”

One of them squinted at me for a moment, as if suddenly recognizing something, before roaring,

“It’s you, you slut!”

The other men also turned, their gazes instantly turning cold and malicious.

“Hmm? What’s going on?”

“Hey, isn’t that the little maid we saw in Breezewind Town back then?”

“Tsk, tsk, those supple breasts and legs—it’s definitely that girl, no mistake.”

“How did she end up here? Didn’t the Governor say he’d bring us some dishes?”

“Heh heh, why bother with all that? Isn’t our ‘dish’ already right in front of us?!”

“Exactly! It was because of this b*tch that I lost all my face back then! This time, I’ll make sure to get my revenge!”

The stout merchant stroked his bulging belly, rising from his seat and looking at me with a gaze filled with desire.

My body tensed instantly.

After becoming a woman, I had grown acutely sensitive to the scrutinizing gazes of men.

Their head-to-toe appraisal felt like a knife slowly peeling me open, cutting into my flesh—it was deeply unsettling.

And now, that sensation had returned.

“You… what are you doing? Where’s Sherlock?! Call him out now!”

I retreated cautiously, my eyes fixed on the exit.

Escaping might not be impossible, but considering how the guards had tacitly allowed Sherlock’s intentions earlier, I worried that choosing to flee might only backfire and alert him.

“Lord Sherlock? Heh heh, he’s probably very busy right now.”

That plump merchant, Tim, licked his lips, approaching me like a rolling ball of flesh.

“As for you, our little ‘dish,’ won’t you let us have a taste?”

“Indeed, it’s rare to savor something so young. We must ensure she stays the night.”

“She looks a bit scared? Could it be her first time? Her master has a field but doesn’t know how to cultivate it himself?”

“Heh heh… Save her feet for me later. Those well-proportioned thighs are too rare; I think I could play with them for a year!”

The men guffawed, slowly rising and closing in on me with leering smiles.

The exaggerated, twisted desire on their faces grew, becoming uglier and uglier.

My heart hammered like a drum, and my palms were slick with cold sweat.

‘What should I do? How can I stall for time?’

I had foolishly assumed I was simply reporting my mission to Governor Sherlock, entering this place without any defense, only to encounter these alcohol-soaked villains.

In my dazed state, the stench of their bodies, the foul reek of alcohol, and their crude lewd remarks poured over me like refuse.

His hands groped wildly, making me feel as if hundreds of cockroaches were crawling all over my body—it was utterly repulsive.

I hesitated, studying their expressions, unsure if this was Governor Sherlock’s doing.

‘Should I endure it?’

‘After all, I’m not truly a woman. Is something like ‘purity’ truly that important to me?’

‘Perhaps not.’

‘If I can achieve my goal, then such a thing is utterly insignificant.’

‘I might feel disgusted when I look back on this later. But if it can buy enough time to rescue that child…’

My gaze slowly unfocused, and my heart grew cold.

“Eh? There’s a pair of boots hidden in the package?”

As one of the men rummaged through my luggage, he suddenly pulled out an item. He fiddled with it for a moment, then carelessly tossed it aside.

‘Hmph, worthless junk.’

‘That thing is…’

My heart clenched in sudden pain.

‘Pick it up.’

‘Huh?’

‘I said…’

I calmly stared at the man who had so carelessly discarded my carefully preserved gift.

‘Pick up my item.’

“Tsk…”

He sneered, slowly walked over, and bent down to pick it up.

Just as I expected him to return it to me, he suddenly threw it out the window, casting it into the dark night.

“Oops, sorry. Your thing’s gone.”

He gave me a mocking look.

‘Do you really need me to spell out the joke?’

“Lord d*ck, why are you wasting words with this lady? She’ll definitely have more things to throw later, hehe.”

One of the men beside me had already begun to unbuckle his belt, but due to his immense size, his movements were slow and sluggish.

The others had also started to loosen their clothes, each moving slowly but without any guard, as if savoring the impending “hunt.”

Suddenly, I felt that these fat worms shouldn’t get off so easily.

The original plan was to divert Governor Sherlock’s attention, giving Rodd and his team time to rescue the child.

But now, that old fox Sherlock wasn’t here. Even if I allowed these men their way, it wouldn’t buy me any time.

If I truly wanted to attract Sherlock’s attention right now, I would need to employ “another plan.”

After all, these men had absolutely no defenses against a helpless little maid like me.

My heart grew colder. Beneath their unobservant gazes, the dagger hidden at my thigh slowly slid free.
