Chapter 29: Monster Information

Impostors:

Refers to known or unknown non-human species that possess human appearances and hide within human society.

Mutation Points:

Small-scale areas of mutation on an Impostor.

Impostors are generally divided into three categories: Primal Species, New Species, and Inferior Species.

Primal Species:

The most primitive and ancient descendants of legendary monsters, possessing the strongest bloodlines among native Impostors. Examples include vampires, werewolves, zombies, and their ilk. Primal species typically live in family groups, deeply hidden within cities, with some families wielding considerable power and influence.

The Five Great Primal Species that dominate Dongchuanguang City are: Nightingale, Wrist Blade, Rigid Yellow, Earth Burial, and Dominator Eye.

Nightingale: The overlord of the Southern District; the Strength Nightingale Clan.

Wrist Blade: Unknown. To be supplemented.

Rigid Yellow: Unknown. To be supplemented.

Earth Burial: Unknown. To be supplemented.

Dominator Eye: Unknown. To be supplemented.

New Species:

Originally humans who have been transformed into monsters through bloodline modifications from Primal Species. New Species usually serve as servants to Primal Species. Since Primal families remain deeply hidden, most public-facing matters are handled by New Species.

Inferior Species/Beast Species:

Specifically refers to Impostors who escaped from the hidden Impostor Research Center at Haidu Psychiatric Hospital in Dongchuanguang City. Most were originally homeless, insignificant individuals who were transformed into Impostors by human scientists. Because many of them carry beast genes, they are also called Beast Species.

Approximately over 400 Beast Species have escaped and hidden in Dongchuanguang, with the majority residing in the Western District.

Identification Number:

Each Beast Species bears a numbered tattoo, with the position varying per individual. This number indicates their ranking code in the research center, ranging from the lowest, #634, to the strongest, #001. The higher the ranking, the greater their strength and research value.

Classification Levels:

The clear hierarchical classification of Dongchuanguang Impostors by human organizations.

F-Class: Impostors with only one Mutation Point, unable to control it freely.

E-Class: Impostors with one Mutation Point, able to control it freely.

D-Class: Impostors with two or more Mutation Points.

C-Class: Specifically refers to newborn Primal Species.

B-Class: New Species with ordinary abilities; average Beast Species.

A-Class: Powerful Beast Species or New Species.

S-Class: Beast Species with formidable strength and powerful Mutation Points; New Species who have perfectly merged with their inherited Primal bloodline; adult Primal Species.

Special S-Class: Specifically refers to adult Primal Species with powerful strength and mature family mutations.

SS-Class: Specifically refers to Beast Species with extraordinary strength, extremely rare and powerful special Mutation Points, and high research value.

SSS-Class: Specifically refers to legendary but clearly documented ultra-powerful Primal Species or New Species.

Judges:

Mercenaries of the city. A collective term for humans who specialize in hunting Impostor monsters. They are known by many other names: demon hunters, exorcists, hunters, etc. Some have their own professions during the day, but come nightfall, they transform into hunters, accepting missions and taking action.

The underworld offers bounties for hunting Impostors, as well as specific tasks. Some act for money, others for revenge, and still others for faith. Their classification is simpler than the Impostors’, divided only into Veteran and Rookie.

Fringers:

Officially known as the Special Species Strategy and Response Prevention Bureau, abbreviated as TWS. They are the order police of the underground city, specifically tasked with managing the covert struggle between Impostors and Judges, preventing ordinary people from discovering the truth, and handling cleanup. Generally, they do not directly intervene in fights between Impostors and Judges, but if an Impostor breaks the rules, they will secretly provide significant assistance to the Judges. In fact, many bounty missions for hunting Impostors are issued by the Fringers.

TWS Occupational Categories:

Fringers: Actually, Fringers does not refer to the entire TWS, but only a specific occupation within it. However, because of their immense reputation, the term has come to represent the whole organization. Fringers are the armed cleanup personnel of TWS, specializing in dealing with Impostors and Judges who violate underground rules. They are few in number but extremely powerful; each is an elite among elites.

Observers: The informants scattered throughout the city by TWS.

Researchers: Scientific personnel specializing in the study of Impostors.

Espers: Unknown. To be supplemented.
