Join the ServerThis is an age that seems peaceful, but it is actually an age fraught with hidden dangers.
Late at night, on streets that should have been empty, a mother and daughter were fleeing. Behind them, a motley crowd of people were chasing them. The one thing they all had in common was that each carried a guitar case on their back.
“Mom! I can’t run anymore!” the little girl cried out as she ran.
“Cuicui, don’t stop! Run!” the woman shouted, pulling the little girl’s hand.
Seeing the pursuers getting closer, the woman didn’t hesitate. She scooped the girl up with one arm and kept running.
“Mommy, wuwu…” The girl cried in her mother’s arms.
They were disguisers, beast-kind, and the weak kind with very low serial numbers.
Following behind them were seven people: one woman and six men. They ran in silence, their faces cold, radiating an inexplicable murderous intent. They were fast, and their footsteps made no sound. They were quiet and well-trained.
“Mom… Mom…” the little girl cried out, because she saw the pursuers getting closer.
“Xiao Cui, don’t look. We’ll be fine.” The woman prayed inwardly. They had struggled from the West District to the South District to escape the Judges’ hunt and to gain the protection of the strong. But the strong wouldn’t protect you all the time. The most important thing was to become strong yourself.
“The weak deserve to be bullied…” I took a big gulp of cola, leaning on the railing of the rooftop as I silently watched the commotion below. I muttered to myself, “Ah, it’s empty. Tsk, troublesome. If I don’t hurry down to save them, my client is going to kick the bucket.”
I tossed the cola bottle aside, pushed open the rooftop door, and left.
Immediately, the fleeing disguised woman was caught. The lead male judge kicked her hard in the back. She lost her balance and fell, and the little girl in her arms was thrown to the ground.
“Mommy! Mommy!” The little girl cried out from the ground.
“Cuicui! Cuicui! Ah!” The beast-woman tried to stand up, but the judge stepped on her back. She could only struggle on the ground, crying out, “Cuicui, don’t kill me! Please don’t kill me!” She tried to crawl forward, but the judge just gave her a cold look and increased the pressure of his foot, waiting for his companions to arrive.
“Good job.” An older judge patted the strong judge on the shoulder. “I’m getting old. The world belongs to you young people now.”
“No, Captain, you’re still young. We’ll still rely on you to find work for us.”
“Please, spare us, mother and daughter…” The woman on the ground begged.
“Mommy… Mommy…”
The strong young judge released his foot, but the judges had already surrounded them. They looked at them coldly. Cuicui crawled into her mother’s arms, crying continuously. The beast-woman also hugged her child tightly, crying and begging: “Please let her go. Just let her go. She’s just a child…”
“She’s just a child, but not a human child.”
“Monster…”
“Hey hey, stop that. My bonus this month depends on her.”
“Hurry up and finish it. I still have to go to work.”
“True, it’s almost dawn.” The older judge opened his guitar case and took out a high-frequency vibrating steel blade, admiring it appreciatively.
“Newcomer, you do it.” But the older judge just took out the blade and didn’t rush to act. Instead, he addressed the strong young judge.
“Yes!” The young judge responded. He immediately opened his guitar case and took out his own high-frequency vibrating blade.
He pointed the blade at the mother and daughter who were crouched on the ground crying.
“Don’t kill us…” The woman hugged her daughter tightly.
“Don’t hesitate. They are not human.” The older judge said coldly.
“Yes!” The young judge immediately raised his high-frequency vibrating steel blade.
“Stop!” A very cold male voice came from behind them.
Immediately, the older judge waved his hand to stop the young judge. The other judges also turned coldly to look at the source of the voice.
The owner of this voice was very familiar to any hunter with a bit of experience. He was one of the beasts they least wanted to see, their ultimate prey. He was the strongest beast in the South District.
Standing behind them was a very handsome and cold-looking white-haired man in a black suit.
This cold man was Cold Smile. He was an S-rank beast, Number 10: Phantom Black Panther, Black Speed Dragon, currently the strongest beast in the South District. Apart from the South District’s originals, he was the most troublesome and terrifying disguiser in the South District.
The judges looked uncertainly at the cold man who was some distance away.
“Cold Smile!” the disguised woman shouted, crying and smiling as she saw him.
“We’ll protect them. Wu You House takes them in.” Cold Smile didn’t waste words, getting straight to the point.
“You again?”
“How many times have you interfered with our missions this month?” several young judges roared.
“This is the South District! All disguisers here are under our management! If you want to hunt disguisers, why don’t you go to the West District?” Cold Smile said coldly.
The judges fell silent, having nothing to say. The West District could be called a concentration of beast-kind. Most of the most powerful beast-kind were located there, and they wouldn’t follow the rules like the originals. If you could kill them, they could kill you in revenge, showing no mercy.
Indeed, hunting disguisers in the West District offered rich rewards, but high rewards came with high risks. One slip and you wouldn’t come back. Only some powerful demon hunters had the ability to survive in the West District. The nights there were the most intense battlegrounds.
Similarly, some weak disguisers, weak beast-kind that couldn’t survive in the West District, would mostly flee to the South District to seek protection from the Nightingale Tribe’s Wu You House agency.
That was why Cold Smile appeared here.
“Cold Smile… you again.” The older judge also looked troubled, just like the young judge had said. This month, several hunting operations had been intercepted by Wu You House, and not a single mission had succeeded.
For the judges of the South District, when encountering Wu You House people, both sides usually backed down. They couldn’t afford the wrath of Wu You House’s originals, and Wu You House wouldn’t kill recklessly or break the rules. But recently, they hadn’t completed a single mission, and some had even died during missions…
The perpetrator was not Cold Smile. It was a new unnumbered beast-kind who had just joined Wu You House…
“Ah ah, so lively.” A young man’s playful laughter came from the other side of the street.
Immediately, the judges looked toward the other side of the street. This time, their expressions turned angry, not just uncertain like when Cold Smile had appeared. Even some of the calm older judges’ faces darkened.
The newcomer was a young man with delicate features but a haggard look. He wore casual sportswear, held a can of cola in his left hand, and in his right hand, a black karambit that kept spinning between his nimble fingers.
His dead fish eyes stared lifelessly at the knife he was playing with, completely ignoring everyone present. From time to time, he took a big gulp of cola, walking toward them with a frivolous, swaying gait.
His demeanor was extremely arrogant, making people want to beat him to death.
“Nameless Serpent!”
“You bastard!” a young judge roared.
Indeed, they really wanted to beat him to death. During this time, this nameless beast-kind had been haunting them like a ghost, and during the last mission, someone had died because of him.
This new beast-kind who joined Wu You House would come out to interfere in almost every mission. This nameless beast-kind had become famous in the underground world of Dongchuanguang, both among demon hunters and disguisers.
He was called Nameless Serpent, an unnumbered beast-kind…
