Join the ServerWhen Mo Xiao’ai stepped into the ward, she immediately sensed something was off.
Unlike the ward on the sixth floor, this one actually had curtains! Already dark enough, and now these dirty curtains blocked the view… Not good.
She crouched low, advancing cautiously, crossbow in hand, every nerve focused on catching any sign of movement.
One moment of carelessness could mean death!
Around her, only silence, dense and heavy. The pale curtains hung motionless in the sealed room. She couldn’t shake the feeling that a pair of eyes was watching her from the darkness!
The room would normally take a few steps to traverse, but she had no idea how long it actually took her.
“Nobody?”
Mo Xiao’ai reached the end of the ward. No one was there. She breathed a silent sigh of relief.
“Huh?” Just as her tense nerves relaxed a little, she suddenly felt someone behind her.
She whipped her head around. Empty. Still the same dark ward, the only difference being that now she could see the doorway.
Just paranoia. Getting spooked by shadows.
She realized her hand holding the crossbow was trembling. Earlier, she had been so calm, but now… she was anything but.
Suddenly, she understood: in this oppressive environment, if she was alone…
It was really terrifying! She almost missed Woman Face and that bastard.
No way! I can’t let those two jerks look down on me!
Get out first! Then find and kill that woman!
I, Mo Xiao’ai, am going to walk out of here alive! I’m only seventeen, and there’s so much I still want to do!
I watched Mo Xiao’ai emerge from the first room, her face dark, brow furrowed, clearly in a foul mood. She shot me a glare, then walked to the second room and quickly entered.
“…”
I stayed hidden around the corner, speechless. What did I do wrong this time?
The next moment, she disappeared into the corridor.
This ward was the same as the last. Equally terrifying in its silence, with white curtains draped over every bed—perfect places to hide and ambush.
If the black-clad woman used a bow, the curtains would block her view, making a sneak attack unlikely. But the same applied to me with my crossbow; counterattacking would be difficult.
If it came down to reaction speed and accuracy, I was confident I could shoot her dead the moment she raised her bow!
As long as she didn’t have a melee weapon… Mo Xiao’ai thought.
First, she crouched to check under every bed. Then she carefully parted the curtain of the first bed.
Empty.
She moved to the second bed, parted the curtain. Then the third.
Still empty.
When she reached the fourth bed…
“Click~” A sudden noise from the end of the ward.
Mo Xiao’ai jumped, spun around, and aimed her crossbow at the corner bed. No one. Nothing unusual. Just silence, and that bed at the end like any other…
But that sound was definitely not my imagination!
Thinking this, she cautiously walked toward the last bed, crossbow raised. She stood before it but didn’t pull the curtain immediately, keeping the crossbow trained on it.
For some reason, her instincts told her no one was there.
She pulled the curtain. Empty… Then what was that sound? She was puzzled.
“Huh?”
Suddenly, she noticed something very strange. Beside the last bed was a door, half-open.
Such doors were common—they connected two rooms for easy movement. This door connected the second room to the third room next door.
Connected to the third room next door… That sound must have been the door opening.
So the woman escaped to the next room. If it were me, what would I do?
Go around and kill from behind!
That feeling came again—someone behind her!
Mo Xiao’ai spun around! Startled! This time, she was right!
Before her was the black-clad woman’s hideous face—ugly, twisted. Unnoticed, she had stood behind Mo Xiao’ai, a machete raised high. Seeing her turn, the woman immediately swung down!
“Damn!” Mo Xiao’ai swore.
“Clang!”
She barely managed to raise her crossbow to block the machete!
Off-balance and overwhelmed by the force, Mo Xiao’ai was pushed to the ground. The machete pressed relentlessly toward her neck.
“Little sister, not bad looking~” the ugly woman said in a twisted tone.
“f*ck off!” Mo Xiao’ai had no time to respond, gripping her crossbow with all her might to hold the blade at bay.
Shit—this woman is stronger than me!
“That delicate face! I hate it! I’ll slash it to pieces! Chop your pretty body into bits!” the ugly woman shrieked, pressing down harder.
“Ugh!” Mo Xiao’ai’s face twisted in strain.
This woman was not only ugly but also a psycho! Mo Xiao’ai drove her knee hard into the woman’s waist.
“Still fighting back?! You b*tch!” The woman screamed wildly, no longer pushing down but instead raising the machete and hacking repeatedly!
“Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang…” Mo Xiao’ai could only keep blocking with her crossbow.
“Slut! b*tch! Vicious woman! How dare you be pretty! Watch me hack you to death!” The black-clad woman kept screeching, her hand relentless, slashing away!
No good—the crossbow can’t take much more; it’s going to break! Mo Xiao’ai thought, remembering the black arrow she had picked up earlier.
A crack appeared in the crossbow’s center. Then the woman landed a blow right on the crack.
“Crack!” The crossbow split in two!
“Damn!” Mo Xiao’ai cursed.
“Hehe~ Now how will you block, b*tch?” The woman straddled Mo Xiao’ai, sneering, not rushing to finish her off—first, some mockery.
“Hehe~ Who knows?” Mo Xiao’ai flashed a bright smile.
“b*tch! Who told you to smile?!” At the sight of that beautiful smile, the woman’s face contorted further, her ugliness deepening. She raised her machete, ready to kill this loathsome young woman.
But Mo Xiao’ai’s hand shot behind her, pulled out a black arrow, and stabbed it deep into the woman’s abdomen!
“Ah! You b*tch!” The woman screamed in agony.
As the woman doubled over in pain, Mo Xiao’ai shoved her off and scrambled to her feet, trying to flee.
But she only made it halfway up before a sharp pain hit the back of her head—the woman had struck her with the machete’s handle!
“Thump!”
Mo Xiao’ai went dizzy and collapsed again. Her mind blurred, her head spinning.
“This time, you’re dead for sure.” Despite the arrow in her belly, the woman was still frenzied! She raised the machete to chop down on Mo Xiao’ai’s back.
But mid-swing, she froze, her whole body rigid.
“Huh?” Mo Xiao’ai had just raised her hand to fight back when the situation suddenly changed.
“What—cough~” The woman screamed, trying to turn her head.
“Woman Face!” Mo Xiao’ai saw the person behind the black-clad woman!
A few minutes earlier.
“She’s been in there a while… Is Xiao’ai okay?” I was hiding by the wall, peeking into the corridor.
Huh! Something’s happening!
Suddenly, a black-clad woman sneaked out of the room at the end and entered Mo Xiao’ai’s room. Then came the sounds of commotion and a woman’s screams!
“No!” I rushed to that room.
As soon as I reached the doorway, I saw the black-clad woman pinning Mo Xiao’ai down, about to deliver the final blow, muttering something incomprehensible.
My mind went blank. Gripping my scissors tightly, I dashed forward and drove them into the woman’s back!
“Thump~” The scissors piercing flesh sent a shiver through me.
“Woman Face! Watch out!” Mo Xiao’ai suddenly shouted.
The black-clad woman spun around, her face hideously contorted, and screamed, “All women prettier than me deserve to die!” Then she swung her machete at me.
I could only watch helplessly as the blade came toward my chest.
But Mo Xiao’ai suddenly lunged up, wrapped her arms around the woman’s head, and twisted violently!
“Crack!”
I heard the woman’s neck snap with a crisp sound. Then her body went limp in Mo Xiao’ai’s arms.
Her final slash only managed to cut my tracksuit.
“Cough~” I was drenched in cold sweat. I sat down on the floor, panting, and touched the torn cloth on my chest.
Mo Xiao’ai tossed the corpse aside and sat down as well, her face unreadable.
2 hours 30 minutes remained on the wristband. 22 hours left in the game.
