After what happened yesterday, I tossed and turned all night without sleep, studying this little spider stinger. I know how big my dark circles are without even looking in a mirror.
I already have dead fish eyes, and now with enormous dark circles. Damn it, I really don’t want to go anywhere crowded.
“Hmm, this damn thing can retract on its own.” Finally, I had to admit that this little spider stinger had grown out of me.
It really is part of my body. If it gets hurt, I feel pain. Whatever I want to poke, it actually pokes. I want it to retract, and it does, but slowly—about fifteen minutes.
But when I think about it carefully, that woman tortured me all night, but when I woke up, I didn’t find any physical harm. Still, mentally, I’ll be scarred for life.
The next day, my body felt off. No matter how much I ate, I wasn’t full, and I grew a spider stinger just like that woman’s. So that day wasn’t a dream; it was real.
That woman Wu Xiaowu ended up stabbing me in the head and knocking me out. She must have done something to me to turn me into this.
Ha, looking on the bright side, it’s just mental damage. My body that got mangled has recovered, hasn’t it? Strictly speaking, the only real change is this little spider stinger, and since it can retract, it’s not a big deal.
Right now, the most serious issues for me are not being able to eat my fill and these dark circles that seriously ruin my looks.
“I’m speechless. These dark circles paired with my dead fish eyes make me look like a psychotic murderer. God, it’s the first day of school. First impressions with female classmates are extremely important!” I roared at the mirror.
“Damn it, no time left.” I packed up and prepared to leave.
“Holy shit, I almost forgot to retract you, you damn thing!” Just as I was about to open the door, I felt a strange coolness on my back. When I looked, I was scared out of my wits.
Then I sat back on the bed, channeled my energy for fifteen minutes, and retracted the spider stinger.
Late on the first day of school. What a tragedy.
The Dongchuanguang College of Arts is a branch of Dongchuanguang University, but it’s located on the main campus.
It’s an independent teaching building, specifically for art students.
This is because art education differs greatly from other departments, and fields like advertising, gaming, and animation design have huge market demand and advantages.
So many prestigious schools have their own independent art colleges with separate admissions.
Today is the first day of Dongchuanguang University. Everywhere on campus, parents are dropping off their kids, and luxury cars of the wealthy are everywhere.
Dongchuanguang University might not be number one in the country, but it’s certainly among the top. And in Dongchuanguang City, if it says it’s second, no one would dare claim first.
On campus, there are many parents and fancy cars, but no students are wandering around.
Today is the first day. By now, each department should be holding its own opening meeting. Freshmen are in meetings, while upperclassmen watch them.
“Ahhh~ Where’s the arts building?!” But things aren’t always as expected. At that moment, a dead fish-eyed guy who clearly looked like a freshman was sprinting across campus.
“Oh~ This building clearly has a different style.” This teaching building looked different from the rest. The walls were covered in messy graffiti—that was art. As for specifics… well, I won’t explain. I’m already out of time, already late.
“Where’s meeting room 102?” I wandered around the first floor and finally found room 102 next to the restroom.
“So they like having meetings next to the toilet?” I muttered as I stepped into the classroom, but immediately felt something was off.
The classroom was huge—big enough to hold over 300 art students. Basically all the freshmen in the art department were there.
On the stage, a balding old man who called himself the department head was frantically talking about how the art industry has great market potential and prospects, how choosing this major was the right decision, and how other majors were traps.
But I figured the speeches for other majors were probably the same.
However, the three hundred or so freshmen seemed completely uninterested in the bald old man’s passionate speech. Some were daydreaming, others were secretly playing on their phones.
Suddenly, a man who looked like a panda burst in and interrupted the old man’s speech. Everyone turned to look—clearly, they found this guy more interesting.
“Hm? A freshman. You’re late. Find a seat.” A teacher at the door said to me.
“Oh,” I replied. Then I lowered my head and walked to the back under the stares of 300 people, found a seat, and sat down. It was mortifying.
But as soon as I sat down and was about to take out my phone, I heard the old department head say,
“That concludes today’s department meeting. Now, please follow your class teachers to your classrooms to see what’s arranged.”
As soon as he finished, all the students couldn’t wait to get up and leave. Only I sat there dumbfounded, motionless. I even noticed a few girls sitting nearby sneaking glances at me with slight smirks.
What the hell? I felt like throwing my phone right then and there.
“Game design majors, follow the senior.”
“Advertising design class, please follow me.”
“Animation class, please follow me.”
“Art education majors, follow the senior sister.”
“Interior decoration class, over here.”
I originally applied for the animation class, but I was afraid I wouldn’t get in, so I filled in the option to accept any assignment.
In the end, I was placed in advertising design. But when I looked at the people in the animation class next door—all guys, all looking like those otaku at anime conventions—I thought, ‘Thank goodness I didn’t go.’
Following the fat senior who led us to the classroom, I observed my classmates along the way. Unlike the all-male animation class, the advertising class had about a dozen guys and at least twenty girls. Hmm, that’s good news.
But most of them already knew each other. Yeah, that’s one downside of renting a place alone—it’s not easy to make friends.
We arrived at the classroom, where a female teacher was already waiting for us.
“Classmates, grab any seat,” the fat senior said.
I randomly chose a seat in the back and sat down.
“Hello everyone, I’m your homeroom teacher. My name is Bei Ying. This is your senior, Dapang, who is also in your major. If you have any questions or don’t understand something, you can ask me or your senior. Now, let me tell you about our class’s major…”
Then the teacher started talking about boring stuff I’d been hearing for over a decade.
“Hey, bro, I just saw you were late on the first day of the meeting. That’s impressive,” the fat guy sitting in front of me suddenly turned around and said.
“Too nervous for school, had insomnia,” I casually lied.
“I can tell,” the fat guy nodded in agreement.
‘Can you be late from insomnia? Usually it’s oversleeping. So easy to fool.’ I couldn’t help but mock myself mentally.
“My name is Li Xiaobai, and you?”
“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Lin Xiaopang,” Lin Xiaopang said.
“And that big fat guy up there?” I asked.
“That’s my older brother,” Xiaopang said.
One called Lin Dapang, the other Lin Xiaopang. Your parents really saved effort when naming you.
“Xiaobai, do you live off-campus? Our class has 12 guys in 3 dorms, and I’ve seen all of them except you,” Xiaopang said.
“Yeah, I rented a room near the school.”
“I see. I live in Building 8, Room 712. I’m the dorm leader. Come over sometime and I’ll introduce you to my roommates,” Lin Xiaopang said, pulling the guy next to him.
“Hello, I’m Zhao Jianwen, nice to meet you,” the guy on Xiaopang’s left extended his hand. Zhao Jianwen was kind of handsome, looking like the legendary ‘warm guy.’
“Hi, hi,” I shook his hand.
“Hello, I’m Qin Hui,” said the guy on Xiaopang’s right. Qin Hui had long hair, clearly an artist type, and his clothes were very bohemian.
“Hi, hi.”
“There’s another guy who didn’t come today. I’ll introduce you another time,” Lin Xiaopang said.
“Sure, sure.”
“Hey, Xiaobai, take me to your apartment sometime,” Lin Xiaopang said.
“Hey, fatty, don’t call me Xiaobai.”
“Huh? Xiaobai, don’t call me fatty.”
“A few male students in the back, please be quiet,” homeroom teacher Bei Ying said.
“Classmates, class dismissed now. You can wander around the art building, but later we need to elect a class monitor and class officers. Come back when you hear the bell.”
Class monitor? Isn’t that just a synonym for s*ave labor? The teacher’s lackey.
Hmm~ I haven’t slept all of yesterday. Let me just put my head down and nap first. But just as I was lying down to sleep, the classroom suddenly got noisy, like someone came in. Well, whatever, it’s none of my business.
Someone tapped on my desk.
“Um, junior, can you come out and chat?” a female voice suddenly sounded beside me.
