Chapter 50: The Tables Turned

“Big eye, it’s your turn!”

Luka shifted, slipped past the batwing demons’ interception, and closed in on the sky eye demon.

‘Damn it!’

The sky eye demon’s purple pupils shrank to pinpricks. It hurriedly squirmed its enormous body, fleeing in the direction away from Luka.

But Luka had already locked onto its rear and wouldn’t let it escape.

Luka circled just beyond the reach of the sky eye demon’s tentacles, dodging the batwing demons’ attacks while firing at the sky eye demon again and again.

Bang bang bang!

Under the continuous roar of the magic blunderbuss Canary, the tentacles the sky eye demon used to protect itself were shot off and sent flying.

One, five, ten…

The number of tentacles was decreasing at an alarming rate.

The last five batwing demons, under the sky eye demon’s furious and frantic commands, chased Luka madly, but he dodged them one after another with dizzying agility.

Because the sky eye demon was so huge, Luka didn’t need to aim carefully at all.

As long as he focused on dodging, he could just fire randomly in its direction.

There was no way he could miss!

Realizing the batwing demons were completely useless, the sky eye demon was furious.

It stopped abruptly, giving up on escape.

Then it squirmed its massive body, pushed its magic power to the extreme, boosted its floating speed to the limit, and charged at Luka.

It was going to take matters into its own hands. It would suddenly reverse direction to catch the enemy off guard, get close to Luka, drag him into melee range, and slaughter him with its powerful tentacles.

But it was pointless.

“A giant meatball like you thinks it can match a Magical Girl in speed?”

Luka saw through the sky eye demon’s plan in an instant. He sneered and pulled back.

Once a magical girl was on guard, the sky eye demon’s flight speed was like a crawling turtle in comparison.

Luka easily evaded, always keeping the distance over fifty meters.

No matter how hard the sky eye demon strained, it couldn’t close the gap.

For a moment, a bizarre and rather comical scene unfolded.

The positions of the magical girl and the sky eye demon had completely swapped.

The sky eye demon, which should have been hiding behind its guards, was squirming crazily, desperately trying to get close to Luka, the assassin executing the decapitation strike.

And Luka kept his distance the whole time, never letting its tentacles touch him.

Time passed quickly in the tense chase.

Soon, after several minutes of one-sided crushing, the sky eye demon was covered in wounds.

More than half of the hundreds of tentacles beneath it had snapped off, spewing thick purple blood, as if a stinking rain of blood were falling from high in the sky.

The surface of the sky eye demon’s huge eyeball was shot through with bloodshot veins. The fury and despair in its gaze nearly turned solid and burst out.

It couldn’t understand at all how a mere low-ranking Magica whelp had driven it to this state!

From mobilizing the demon army and sneak-attacking the enemy’s hiding place, to the enemy forcibly luring away the group of batwing demons and coming in person.

Every single arrangement it had made had been seen through by this Magica whelp, and it had no power to resist.

In its entire demonic life, this was an unprecedented, unheard-of freak occurrence.

This Magica whelp was too strange, too bizarre, even somewhat eerie!

This thing was very likely some extremely rare special individual among Magicas!

No good!

Even at a painful price, it had to kill this Magica whelp right here!

Finally, after a few more tentacles were shot to bloody shreds, the sky eye demon made up its mind.

It sent a telepathic message into the minds of the last five batwing demons, ordering them to stop attacking the Magica and gather around it.

The five batwing demons faithfully carried out the order. They immediately flapped their wings and closed in around the sky eye demon.

But the next command never came.

The batwing demons were stunned at first, then turned back to look at the sky eye demon.

Then, as if realizing something, their faces changed drastically, and terror crept into their eyes.

The five batwing demons looked at each other, then their gazes darted back and forth between Luka and the sky eye demon. They looked torn, hesitant, deeply conflicted.

One or two of them even secretly flapped their wings, as if trying to edge away from the sky eye demon and flee at the first chance.

But before they could make a break for it, the sky above them suddenly darkened.

Whoosh!

A mass of thick tentacles swept down with violent wind, one per demon, and instantly caught all five batwing demons.

“Squeal!”

The batwing demons showed looks of terror, screaming and begging for mercy, as if some terrible disaster was about to befall them.

Luka, still firing, saw this bizarre sight and his eyes turned wary.

Why would the cornered sky eye demon suddenly grab its own comrades?

He had a bad feeling that something terrible was about to happen.

And the key to it almost certainly had to do with those captured batwing demons.

‘Not good. I have to stop this!’

He made his decision immediately and flew toward the batwing demons, trying to kill them first.

That way, whatever the sky eye demon was planning, it wouldn’t be able to carry it out.

But just as Luka raised the Canary and prepared to fire, the sky eye demon’s tentacles moved faster than him.

In an instant, the five tentacles coiled around the batwing demons were retracted into its belly like lightning.

Then, from inside its belly came the shrill screams of the batwing demons.

Those screams were piercing and miserable, as if they were suffering hellish torment. What kind of unimaginable treatment had they endured to make such desperate wailing?

Luka’s scalp went numb, and chills ran down his back.

Soon, the sounds shifted from initial screams to deep, guttural roars.

The sky eye demon’s magic aura was visibly weakening.

Its huge eyeball was bloodshot, its tentacles listless, and its body even seemed to have shrunk a size or two.

But as the sky eye demon weakened, the roars inside it grew stronger, and some inexplicable momentum was rapidly swelling.

Seeing this eerie change, Luka’s scalp tingled.

Whatever was happening, he couldn’t let it continue!

Luka raised the Canary and fired continuously, trying to interrupt the sky eye demon’s process.

But the sky eye demon was willing to block all its remaining tentacles in front of itself to stop his interference.

Finally, the unknown transformation was complete, and the sky eye demon’s withering presence stopped declining.

A mix of exhaustion, anger, and smugness flickered in the sky eye demon’s huge single eye.

It parted the tentacles covering its abdomen. The five batwing demons inside were gone.

In their place were five bizarre demon-men of completely different appearances!
