Chapter 51: The Battlefield of the Damned

A ‘battlefield of the damned’ typically refers to a scenario where multiple beautiful girls vie for the attention of one person, and vice versa.

Regarding this particular scene, until just recently, Ye Yu had found it utterly captivating. Whether it was the intense rivalry between beautiful girl rivals or the psychological turmoil of the male lead caught in the middle, both were incredibly intriguing.

What Ye Yu hadn’t anticipated was that he, as an observer, would one day find himself in such a special scenario. Even more surprising was that the person being judged in this ‘battlefield’ was himself!

The sweet, cloying scent of a girl’s perfume enveloped him. On the left, there was a heart-stirring orchid fragrance, while on the right, a fresh, slightly alluring scent wafted.

In the pitch-black environment where sight was useless, his sense of smell was heightened to its maximum capacity. He could feel the two girl scents intertwining, and although his body relaxed, his mind remained tense.

For while the scents were pleasant, they were also, as the song title goes, ‘poisonous.’

As he inhaled the increasingly distinct scents from both sides, Ye Yu clearly sensed that Tang Yue and Bai Youli were drawing closer to him in the darkness. The left side was graced with Bai Youli’s pleading gaze, while the right side was pierced by Tang Yue’s knife-like stare, silently conveying, ‘If you answer wrong, you’re dead!’

Feeling the oppressive atmosphere in the tree hole intensify with the ‘wife question,’ Ye Yu found himself recalling various anime scenarios where the male lead navigates such a ‘battlefield.’

And soon, a useful, albeit somewhat embarrassing, solution came to mind: the art of ‘urinating to escape.’

‘Excuse me, I need to go,’ he blurted out.

Tang Yue, who had been intensely focused on Ye Yu and the ‘improper’ Bai Youli, furrowed her delicate brows slightly at his response. She saw through his flimsy excuse instantly.

After all, since entering the abyss, Ye Yu had only consumed a meal of mushrooms and nothing else. Moreover, he had expended a large amount of water elements the night before.

Would a body, deprived of water, voluntarily expel water elements? Of course not.

So, Ye Yu’s pretext of needing to use the bathroom was, in essence, an indirect proposal to accept Bai Youli as his ‘little wife.’

Upon reaching this conclusion, Tang Yue’s usually gentle and smiling face was tinged with a rare anger. Ye Yu’s encounter with the naturally seductive Bai Youli was understandable, as she was a knowledge-deficient and sensual Momo spirit.

Tang Yue could also tolerate being caught in the act with Ye Yu in the tree. After all, there was an element of her own teasing involved, and Ye Yu had been compelled to act after eating the mushrooms.

But now, facing Bai Youli’s proposal for a ‘little wife,’ Ye Yu had not explicitly refused. This development was unacceptable to Tang Yue as his ‘wife.’

Intentional and unintentional errors, proactive and reactive actions—these were two entirely different dimensions.

It is said that when a girl is resolute about love, her brain cells become extraordinarily active, capable of weaving together all sorts of information to imagine various outcomes. The mental activity is comparable to that of Einstein.

If Ye Yu had known about Tang Yue’s inner turmoil, he would have wholeheartedly agreed with this proverb. Tang Yue’s thought process had gone awry. Ye Yu’s reluctance to openly reject Bai Youli was driven by a simple fear: that this introverted spirit might, in a fit of emotion, cause the mark on his lower abdomen to spread further.

Yet, Ye Yu was only an ordinary person. Without telepathy, he couldn’t divine Tang Yue’s thoughts. Nor could he have predicted that his gentle, water-like wife, Tang Yue, was genuinely angry, and the consequences would be severe.

It’s said that those who are gentle in daily life become eerily calm and intense when angry. Tang Yue was clearly this type of person.

Regarding Ye Yu’s request to use the bathroom, Tang Yue’s once turbulent and fiery eyes gradually calmed, returning to their usual black color. Her flower-like, pure face regained its gentle, orchid-like smile, albeit with a hint of stiffness at the corners of her mouth.

After a moment of thought, Tang Yue parted her thin lips and spoke softly.

‘Of course, darling, go ahead and use the bathroom right here. If you can’t manage, I’ll help you!’

Tang Yue’s voice was sweet, and with each movement of her cherry lips, she exuded an eternal softness, warming and captivating like the arrival of spring after winter’s snow.

Yet, her words left Ye Yu stunned on the spot!

What did she mean by ‘here’? In front of both of them? And how exactly did his wife plan to assist him? Was ‘help’ a verb or an adverb?

‘N-no need, d-dear, I can manage on my own.’

As unsettling thoughts crossed his mind, Ye Yu gingerly tried to stand up, even though his vision was obscured by darkness. An instinctual sixth sense told him that his angry wife was more frightening than any external demon.

The best course of action was to exit the tree hole and avoid the situation altogether. After all, in anime, whenever the male lead withdraws from the ‘battlefield’ for a while, the conflict resolves perfectly upon his return.

Ye Yu cautiously lifted his trembling legs, feeling his way in the dark. Although he was on the second level of the tree hole, akin to a second-story room, his ‘Be My Cat’ attire gave him a sense of security. For agile cats, jumping from a second story was nothing.

However, Ye Yu’s optimism was crushed by a harsh reality. As he rose from the bed and took a step forward, a slightly chilly hand gripped his arm.

Since transforming into a girl, Ye Yu’s arms had become slender. Although Tang Yue’s hands were not large, they easily encircled Ye Yu’s arm.

Feeling the chill of Tang Yue’s hand and the ominous aura behind it, Ye Yu had a bad premonition. He struggled half-heartedly but couldn’t break free. Remembering Tang Yue’s earlier, overly gentle words, Ye Yu stood rigidly, trying to reason.

‘Dear, this is Bai Youli’s bedroom. Using the bathroom here might not be very…’

But before Ye Yu could finish, a slender finger pressed against his lips, and Tang Yue’s incredibly gentle voice followed.

‘It’s okay; she’s your little wife, so she won’t mind!’

Bai Youli, who had been silently listening, didn’t understand the meaning of ‘bathroom.’ Although she didn’t know what Ye Yu intended, she nodded obediently, displaying a friendly attitude as the host.

‘Though I don’t know what you’re going to do, you can go ahead, darling!’

Hearing Bai Youli’s innocent response, Ye Yu felt like crying. She didn’t know what he was planning, and yet she agreed without hesitation. Wasn’t she being too trusting?

But she wasn’t concerned, while Ye Yu was!

This was some kind of humiliating role-play! If he actually went through with it, wouldn’t it be so embarrassing he could move to another planet?

To protect his last shred of dignity, Ye Yu thought quickly and, with one hand, moved Tang Yue’s finger from his lips.

‘Ah? Wait, dear, I think it’s safer outside…’

Tang Yue raised an eyebrow. ‘Ha, I don’t care what you think; I care about what I think!’

Ye Yu’s first plan failed, so he tried another.

‘Dear, I’m a bit hungry.’

Tang Yue: ‘Ha, I’ll roast some mushrooms for you after you’re done.’

Another plan failed!

So, he tried a third.

‘Dear, I don’t need to go anymore…’

Seeing his little husband still struggling, unaware of his mistake, Tang Yue slowly reached out with her other hand, gently grasping Ye Yu’s cat tail and issuing her final ultimatum.

‘Ha, too late now!’

Taking advantage of Ye Yu’s shock, Tang Yue tightened her grip.

In the next moment, a seductive black lace tail slipped down a pair of smooth, slender thighs. A voice filled with endless affection echoed through the tree hole.

‘Darling, don’t worry; if you can’t manage, I’ll help you. I’ll help you thoroughly!’

Tang Yue’s sweet words belied her intent, and Ye Yu was left speechless, his mind racing with the implications of her offer. As he stood there, his thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and dread, he realized that his gentle, seemingly understanding wife had a plan of her own. One that he was ill-prepared to face.

In the depths of the abyss, where the lines between reality and fantasy often blurred, Ye Yu found himself caught in a web of his own making. The ‘battlefield of the damned’ had become a reality, and he was its unwitting participant. As he grappled with the situation, he couldn’t help but wonder if there was a way out of this predicament. But for now, he was at the mercy of Tang Yue’s whims, and the outcome was far from certain.
