Chapter 13: Come Let Big Sister Give You a Big Kiss

Xia Qimeng polished off all four sandwiches, leaving nothing behind.

She took a tissue and elegantly dabbed the corners of her mouth.

Just as this serene, perfect moment was about to settle in…

“Beep beep beep!”

The communicator at Lu Yiyi’s waist suddenly went off.

It was the emergency line to the command center, only used during top-level tactical deployment.

Startled, Lu Yiyi quickly covered the communicator and glanced at Xia Qimeng.

Xia Qimeng rested her cheek on one hand, watching her with obvious interest and no intention of stopping her.

She lifted her black tea cup, took a light sip, and made a “go right ahead” gesture.

Lu Yiyi tensed up and pressed the answer button.

– Lu Yiyi! Are you still alive!

Supervisor Zhao’s anxious voice blasted out of the speaker, with a chaotic background of dispatch commands.

– Supervisor Zhao, I’m fine.

Lu Yiyi leaned toward the microphone, her voice soft and a bit dazed.

It was on a completely different wavelength from the tense, battle-ready atmosphere in that channel.

The communicator went silent for two seconds.

Then came a few heavy breaths.

– How… how is Xia Qimeng doing right now? Were you taken hostage? If so, cough lightly!

Supervisor Zhao spoke at lightning speed.

– The special ops team is in position, ready to initiate forced suppression at any moment!

‘Forced suppression?’

Lu Yiyi frowned.

‘With Miss Xia sitting there looking all sweet and docile over her tea, what’s there to suppress?’

‘These people really are used to wearing colored glasses.’

– No need for suppression.

Lu Yiyi glanced back at Xia Qimeng.

Xia Qimeng set down her cup, picked up a cookie, popped it into her mouth, and crunched it loudly.

– Miss Xia is in a very stable mood.

Lu Yiyi reported truthfully into the mic.

– She’s eating breakfast.

An eerie silence fell over the command center.

A full thirty seconds passed without a sound.

‘Breakfast?’

Supervisor Zhao wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and stared at the shredded remains of Wang Li on the surveillance screen.

A living menace who had skinned a senior employee alive and dumped her on the first floor, triggered the base’s highest-level alarm, and nearly torn apart the entire seventeenth underground floor.

And now she was sitting in the containment room… eating breakfast?

You’ve got to be kidding me!

– Lu Yiyi, listen carefully.

Supervisor Zhao lowered his voice, thick with fear.

– No matter what she’s doing right now, do everything you can to keep her calm. Don’t provoke her.

– We’re sending our best negotiation expert down to back you up immediately. Until then, you…

Before he could finish.

“I dare you to.”

A voice as clear as a song rippled through the containment room, rode the radio waves, and reached every ear at the command center.

Xia Qimeng had somehow left the desk and was now standing right beside Lu Yiyi.

She bent slightly, her chin hovering just above Lu Yiyi’s shoulder.

This position put her right at the communicator’s microphone.

“Starting today, no one steps foot on the seventeenth underground floor except Miss Yiyi.”

She addressed the microphone.

Her tone was still that gentle warmth that soothed the soul, but her words were terrifyingly fierce.

In the command center, every fully armed special ops member broke out in a cold sweat.

Xia Qimeng paused.

She turned her head and planted a kiss on Lu Yiyi’s cheek.

“Mwah.”

Then, facing the communicator, she delivered her ultimatum with a light, rising tone.

“Otherwise… I’ll kill every single one who comes.”

The communicator went deathly silent.

Lu Yiyi’s mind went completely blank.

The only thing she could register was the lingering softness on her cheek.

‘Miss Xia… kissed me?’

She stared blankly at Xia Qimeng, mouth opening and closing, but not a single word came out.

Xia Qimeng lifted a hand and swept her fingertip across the communicator.

“Zzt.”

With a soft crackle, the communicator went completely dead, even its indicator light fading out.

“There. Now no one will bother us.”

Xia Qimeng straightened up, sat back in her chair, and raised her black tea again, elegant as if nothing had happened.

“Mi… Miss Xia… you just…”

Lu Yiyi stammered, her cheeks so red they looked ready to bleed.

“What did I just do?”

Xia Qimeng tilted her head at her, innocent amusement rippling in her dark, color-swirled eyes.

“I was teaching you, little newbie, how to deal with those old fogeys.”

“Huh?”

Lu Yiyi was even more confused.

“They see you as expendable cannon fodder, to be thrown away after use. Today they dare to hand your mission to someone else; tomorrow they’ll dare to send you somewhere even more dangerous.”

Xia Qimeng set down her cup and spoke with patient guidance.

“The more you back down with people like that, the more they push forward.”

She extended a finger and tapped Lu Yiyi’s forehead.

“So you have to show them something to be afraid of. Make them know that you, Lu Yiyi, are someone they absolutely must not mess with.”

Lu Yiyi clutched her forehead, her worldview being rebuilt from scratch.

‘That… can work?’

First floor of the Paranormal Bureau, command center.

Supervisor Zhao’s walkie-talkie fell to the floor, but he didn’t even notice.

The whole command center was dead quiet.

Everyone held their breath, cold sweat sliding down their temples.

“I’ll kill every single one who comes.”

The words still echoed in everyone’s ears, but no one doubted them.

Wang Li’s dismantled corpse was proof enough.

“Supervisor… what do we do now?” a special ops team member asked, voice trembling.

“What do we do?”

Supervisor Zhao snapped back to reality and kicked over a chair, eyes bloodshot.

“What else can we do! Scrap the forced suppression protocol! All special ops teams, stand by!”

After shouting, he grabbed another communicator from the desk and dialed the logistics department’s internal line.

“This is Zhao Hai! Right now, immediately! Upgrade Lu Yiyi’s personnel file clearance to maximum! Clear all her missions!”

“From this moment on, her only task is Xia Qimeng’s psychological counseling!”

“Her position is changed effective immediately to ‘Calamity-Class Dedicated Psychological Consultant’! Pay and benefits raised to S-rank! Give her a personal car! Give her a house! Whatever she wants, give it to her!”

Supervisor Zhao’s voice was so agitated it had warped.

No joke.

This was no longer just about a calamity-class spirit master.

This was handing the nuclear launch button to a rookie girl who’d been on the job for only five days!

Now Lu Yiyi was their ancestor.

They had to worship her!

Seventeenth underground floor.

Xia Qimeng admired Lu Yiyi’s dumbstruck look and couldn’t help chuckling softly.

The laugh was crisp and pleasant, with a touch of playful mischief.

“Alright, now you can make your demands.”

She tossed the dead communicator back into Lu Yiyi’s arms.

“Whatever you want, just say it.”

Lu Yiyi fumbled to catch it, blinking her big eyes, still not over that loud kiss from a moment ago.

“Ma… make demands?”

“That’s right.”

Xia Qimeng propped her chin on her hand, watching her leisurely.

“For example, have your new Supervisor Zhao kowtow to you a few times and call you ‘Grandma’ from now on?”

Lu Yiyi shook her hands frantically.

“No no no, that won’t do! Supervisor Zhao is a very nice person!”

“Then…”

Xia Qimeng drew out the word, her eyes gleaming with deeper amusement.

“Dig up that Sister Zhang who used to bully you and kill her again?”

Lu Yiyi went pale.

“That’s even worse!”

‘Wait a second. How did Miss Xia know Sister Zhang was dead? Did Wang Li tell her?’

Watching Lu Yiyi’s muddled little expression, Xia Qimeng shifted sideways and scooped her up from the chair, pulling her snugly into her arms.

Yiyi’s soft, warm body tumbled into a fragrant embrace, her nose filling with that reassuring floral scent.

“Since you won’t make a request…”

Xia Qimeng rested her chin gently on top of Lu Yiyi’s head and whispered into her ear, soft white hair cascading down beside Lu Yiyi’s cheek.

“Then it’s my turn to make a request of you.”
