Lu Yiyi showed up at the Paranormal Bureau’s first-floor lobby right on time, carrying a brand-new thermal lunchbox printed with a Pikachu pattern, two heavy black circles under her eyes.
Last night she had tossed and turned in bed, her head full of floral scent, memory gaps, and logic dead ends.
As someone with severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, an unsolvable puzzle bothered her more than death.
She had listed a dozen hypotheses in her phone’s memo, then overturned them and started over, again and again.
Hypothesis one: Miss Xia had dual abilities.
Hypothesis two: The floral scent was a calming agent.
Hypothesis three: She was so tired from work that she had developed intermittent amnesia…
When the analysis was done, a large number of brain cells had died, and she only managed to fall into a dazed sleep in the middle of the night.
Today she had deliberately changed into a light blue sailor uniform.
The pleated skirt matched with knee-high white socks, and her low twin tails were tied with two blue ribbons.
She looked full of youthful energy.
Most importantly, the sailor uniform gave off a proper, disciplined vibe that could remind her to keep her head and not fall so easily.
Supervisor Zhao was already waiting by the elevator, holding a steaming hot latte.
Seeing her approach, he came over from a distance.
“Little Lu, last night… did you not sleep well?” Supervisor Zhao asked with concern, looking at the dark circles under her eyes.
This woman was now the pillar of the entire building; nothing could go wrong with her.
He handed over the latte and personally pressed the down button for her.
“Thanks, Supervisor Zhao. I had a bit of insomnia last night. No need for the coffee, I brought my own drink.” Lu Yiyi thanked him politely and declined the latte.
The elevator doors slid open.
She stepped into the car, turned around, and waved at Supervisor Zhao.
Lu Yiyi breathed in, breathed out, and smoothed the skirt of her sailor uniform.
The numbers kept decreasing, and the temperature inside the elevator gradually dropped.
In her mind, she went over the “battle plan” she had made late last night.
Today, she had to get things straight with Miss Xia.
She absolutely could not be casually pulled into an embrace again, and she definitely couldn’t give the other woman a chance to hypnotize her.
The plan was perfect, but her ability to execute it remained to be seen.
She rubbed her slightly chilled cheeks with both hands and silently encouraged herself.
‘Lu Yiyi, you can do this!’
‘You’re Miss Xia’s dedicated psychological consultant now. You need to show some professionalism. You can’t let beauty and gentleness sweep you off your feet again!’
“Ding.”
They had arrived at level B17.
Lu Yiyi walked out of the elevator, went to the special containment room door, and swiped her ID badge on the sensor.
The pure gold explosion-proof door slid open to both sides.
The faint floral scent that could make one’s limbs go weak did not appear as expected.
What rushed to meet her was a sweet, cloying aroma typical of a dessert shop, mixing the scent of cream and caramel.
Lu Yiyi looked up inside, and the Pikachu lunchbox in her hand tilted, almost dropping onto the carpet.
Her eyes went wide, her mouth slightly open, and she completely lost her ability to speak.
In the center of the room, the wooden desk had been pushed to a corner.
Xia Qimeng was standing in the open space in the middle.
She had changed out of yesterday’s flowing ancient-style dress and was now wearing an elaborate, ornate magical girl outfit.
A loud ring went off in Lu Yiyi’s head.
This was… Senya Ruruka!!!
Xia Qimeng’s signature snow-white hair had turned into a brilliant gold, with delicate curls at the ends, cascading softly over her shoulders.
Those black-and-colored irises were now wearing purple contacts, deep and enchanting.
A dark-style magical girl dress, layered with ruffles and lace, cinched at the slender waist by a black corset.
Knee-length wine-purple boots hugged her long legs tightly, and the strip of bare thigh between the boot tops and the hem was so white it was dazzling.
From head to toe, from hair strands to heels.
Senya Ruruka, the hugely popular villain from Pretty Cure.
An exact 1:1 replica.
No, this was the character walking right out of the anime.
Xia Qimeng’s inherent elegance, paired with that slightly teasing look, perfectly captured the bewitching aura of a villain who seduced all beings.
The paper character… was alive!
Lu Yiyi stood frozen at the doorway, looking utterly stupefied.
Things like the one-meter safety distance or holding her breath to avoid hypnosis were all thrown into a collection and left to gather dust.
In front of a living “paper wife,” those things had to step aside.
Completely losing control, she took a step, then another, toward the center of the room, her eyes glued to Xia Qimeng, not even willing to blink.
So beautiful.
The brilliance of 2D had truly shone into reality.
Lu Yiyi’s 2D DNA was dancing wildly, leaving only one thought in her mind:
Hug!
Xia Qimeng enjoyed watching this little rabbit walk right into the trap, a flash of triumph in her eyes.
The outfit she had forced the tailor to work overnight on had worked surprisingly well.
She hadn’t used any hypnosis or suggestion, and the little one obediently came to her on her own.
Seeing Lu Yiyi’s dazed look, that adorable expression of wanting to glue her eyes to her, Xia Qimeng felt so good she wanted to sigh.
Ah! Her damn charm!
She turned her body slightly, extended her right hand toward Lu Yiyi, and a seductive, maternal smile curled at the corner of her lips.
“Come here, dear Yiyi…”
Lu Yiyi’s knees went weak, almost buckling right then and there.
She moved forward as if in a trance, the wool carpet soft underfoot, exactly like her wavering sanity at that moment.
Her big eyes were full of shimmering stars, staring unblinkingly at the person before her.
Xia Qimeng extended her left arm and naturally wrapped it around Lu Yiyi’s waist, pulling her into her embrace.
Their bodies clashed together, and a familiar warmth pressed against her.
Lu Yiyi didn’t even think of struggling. Instead of pulling back, she leaned in closer, her hands instinctively grabbing Xia Qimeng’s shoulders.
“So, Yiyi.”
Xia Qimeng lowered her head, the purple contacts reflecting an eerie light, and switched back to that gentle, seductive teasing tone.
“Do I look good?”
Lu Yiyi’s cheeks flushed so hot they seemed to steam. She nodded like a pecking chick, murmuring to herself.
“Beautiful… too beautiful… Lady Ruruka has descended in person…”
Xia Qimeng couldn’t hold back her smile anymore.
The little white rabbit had given up resisting, completely captivated by her charm.
She raised her right hand, pinched Lu Yiyi’s small chin, and slowly planted a kiss on her tender cheek.
“Then…” Xia Qimeng leaned down, close to that pink ear, her breath like orchid, “Do you want to sign a contract with me?”
“Become my exclusive property. Hand over your body, your mind, and your soul, all to me.”
Lu Yiyi’s thick lashes trembled.
The words “sign a contract” were like a heavy blow, knocking open the nerves that had been fogged by beauty.
Wait.
Sign a contract? Body, mind, and soul?
Those lines sounded strangely familiar, and… dangerous!
Her reason finally slammed on the brakes at the edge of the cliff.
She snapped back to reality, looked down, and realized she was holding onto the woman’s waist, the whole of her wrapped in Xia Qimeng’s arms in a ridiculously intimate pose.
This was deadly!
Where was the promised “one-meter safety distance”?
Where was the conviction she had sworn before coming in not to be fooled by beauty?
Seeing a magical girl cosplay and immediately reverting to form, even throwing herself into the trap on her own?
Lu Yiyi, you useless face-s*ave!
Embarrassed all the way down to level B17!
She quickly let go, pressing her hands against Xia Qimeng’s shoulders, trying to lean back and create some distance.
“Mi-Miss Xia…”
She stammered, the flush on her face not yet faded, her eyes darting around, not daring to meet those purple eyes.
“Your outfit today…”
How could Xia Qimeng let her off easily?
The arm around her waist not only didn’t loosen, but tightened further.
“Shh…”
She applied pressure, lifting Lu Yiyi up so she had to stand on her tiptoes, forced even closer.
“Call me… Onee-sama.”
