Chapter 5: Hypnotized by Her Counseling Subject

Lu Yiyi was completely disarmed by the smooth talk.

Total honesty?

Building absolute trust?

Seems… kind of reasonable?

But something felt off.

Since when did building trust require waist touching?

Even if everyone in the Paranormal Bureau was mentally unstable, this counseling method was way too ahead of its time.

Lu Yiyi’s sluggish brain worked hard, trying to find a logical flaw in those high-sounding words.

She wanted to ask a question, wanted to step back.

But that rich floral fragrance was too reassuring.

Every time Xia Qimeng got close, that drowsiness that made her limbs weak multiplied.

Lu Yiyi’s thoughts stepped into a swamp.

The more she struggled, the deeper she sank.

The words of resistance in her mind were stirred into a mess by the sticky sleepiness.

She couldn’t piece together a complete sentence.

The figure before her began to overlap, and even the temperature of the hand on her waist grew scorching.

“Th-then… what should I do?”

She asked timidly, her voice soft as if she were talking in her sleep.

Her trailing tone dragged on.

She didn’t even realize how much she sounded like she was acting spoiled.

“It’s simple.”

Xia Qimeng’s palm pressed against her waist, slowly rubbing twice.

Then she leaned in closer, her lips touching the tip of Lu Yiyi’s ear.

The breath from her words trickled into her ear canal.

“You need to relax… take a deep breath… yes, just like that. Put down all those trivial matters.”

Xia Qimeng’s tone changed.

It was no longer the playful lightness from earlier, but low and soothing, carrying a strange rhythm.

She didn’t use the paranormal power of a catastrophe-level spirit master.

To deal with this innocent little white rabbit, there was no need to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Her masterful hypnosis skills alone were enough to have the person eating out of her palm.

“Yes… inhale… exhale… put down the tray.”

Under that captivating guidance, Lu Yiyi couldn’t resist at all.

Her breathing rhythm was unconsciously led astray.

She obediently followed, breathing in and out with Xia Qimeng’s voice.

Every deep breath drew more floral scent into her lungs.

The fingers that had been tightly gripping the edge of the tray loosened one by one.

With nothing left to hold, her hands had nowhere to rest.

She could only press her palms nervously against her knees, like a pupil listening to a teacher’s instructions.

That feeling of being drained of strength by hypnosis swept over her.

Even sitting upright became a luxury.

She only stayed on the chair because of Xia Qimeng’s arm around her waist, holding her up.

“Very good… Yiyi did great.”

Xia Qimeng praised softly, her voice coated with honey, luring the little white rabbit step by step into a trap.

The hand on her waist no longer stayed still.

It began to climb upward inch by inch, past her shoulder blades, and finally stopped at the fair, tender nape of Lu Yiyi’s neck.

Her slightly cool fingertips gently pinched the soft flesh there, squeezing with just the right amount of pressure.

If this were any other time, having someone she’d known for less than two hours grab the scruff of her neck, Lu Yiyi would have jumped up in fright long ago.

But now, listening to the seductive whispers by her ear and breathing in the intoxicating cool fragrance, all her defenses were stripped clean.

Not only did she not dodge that restless hand, but she leaned into the pressure, tilting her head and proactively snuggling toward Xia Qimeng’s neck.

Like a kitten with its fur stroked smooth, asking for more pets.

Xia Qimeng paused slightly.

She lowered her eyes to look at the little white rabbit that had delivered itself to her arms.

In her pupils where black and color intertwined, a long-suppressed emotion was growing wildly.

Too obedient.

So obedient it made her heart itch.

So obedient it made her want to bully her hard.

She wanted to lock her in a cage, not letting her go anywhere.

She wanted her to obey completely, to become her own private possession.

In this lightless underground level seventeen, what was imprisoned wasn’t just the out-of-control paranormal events, but also her heart that had long been teetering on the edge of the abyss.

This little one, thrown in as cannon fodder, had not only calmed the violent power inside her, but also baked her a heartfelt strawberry cake.

Now, she was even nestling obediently in her arms, letting herself be at her mercy.

Xia Qimeng withdrew her gaze and forcibly suppressed the malice surging in her eyes, replacing it with a gentle smile.

“Yiyi performed very well today…”

Her fingertips traced light circles on Lu Yiyi’s fair nape, her tone growing even softer.

“However, psychological counseling is a long-term job. Yiyi, what you did today is just the beginning.”

“Mm…?”

Lu Yiyi struggled to lift her heavy eyelids.

Her long lashes fluttered twice, her eyes as dazed as if covered in a mist of water.

‘Just the beginning?’

She blinked sluggishly, a string of question marks popping into her head.

She’d baked a cake, let her touch her legs, let her hug her waist, and now she was being held by the waist and having her neck squeezed, lying completely in her arms.

She’d almost handed over all her boundaries.

How was this only the beginning?

‘What comes next? She can’t really plan to eat me, right?’

The last sliver of reason tried to break free from the hypnosis.

Lu Yiyi’s body shifted, trying to pull away from Xia Qimeng’s embrace.

How could Xia Qimeng give her a chance to escape?

Sensing the little one’s struggle, she immediately leaned in and pressed her lips to Lu Yiyi’s ear.

“Huff…”

She blew several breaths of hot air against that red little ear.

The warm breath, heavy with the rich floral fragrance, poured into her ear and seeped into her nervous system.

Lu Yiyi’s whole body softened.

The faint trace of clarity that had just gathered was thoroughly shattered again.

Her brain completely shut down.

The rebellious thoughts that had just sprouted were blown to pieces by those hot breaths.

Her ability to think was stripped away once more.

She lay limp in Xia Qimeng’s arms, letting Xia Qimeng do whatever she wanted.

“Good child.”

Xia Qimeng looked at Lu Yiyi’s unfocused, dazed eyes with satisfaction, her fingers gently stroking the back of her neck.

This was only a shallow hypnosis.

With her abilities, she could completely brainwash this little one in one minute and turn her into a puppet that obeyed her every command.

But that would be too boring.

A rare treasure like this, one that could bring her peace, should be educated little by little.

Silently, like rain soaking into the ground, she would carve her mark into her subconscious, making her willingly depend on her, love her, and never be able to leave her.

Until she got used to her touch, used to her scent, and eventually became her possession forever.

“As for the rest…”

Xia Qimeng’s voice became even more ethereal.

“Tomorrow, the day after, the day after that, you must all come.”

Lu Yiyi’s eyes completely lost their focus, staring blankly into the air.

Her lips parted slightly, and she mechanically repeated.

“Yes. Tomorrow… the day after… the day after that… I must come.”

“That’s right.”

A smile curved at the corner of Xia Qimeng’s mouth.

She hugged Lu Yiyi even tighter, resting her chin on top of her head and rubbing it gently.

“Until my mental state is completely stable, you must come every day. This is your job, right?”

“Yes… this is my job.”

Lu Yiyi answered softly, her voice growing quieter and quieter, until finally she closed her eyes and fell asleep in Xia Qimeng’s arms.

The special containment room on the seventeenth underground level returned to silence once more.

Only the electronic clock on the wall faithfully blinked its glowing blue numbers.

Xia Qimeng held the sleeping girl in her arms, her gaze landing on the plain, unpretentious strawberry cake on the desk.

So sweet.

She suddenly began to look forward to the future.
