Chapter 21: Secrets, Suspicions, and a Stolen Kiss

Following that, the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau specifically arranged for Bai Yu and Lu Xingyao to be questioned about the dream in the serene confines of their headquarters.

Through these indirect interactions, Bai Yu came to understand the true extent of Lu Xingyao’s formidable background, realizing that she, too, was essentially living off another’s influence.

Bai Yu harbored no resentment towards the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau’s inquiries, as she genuinely wished to aid others ensnared within the dreamscape.

“Your Excellency Bai Yu, did you truly not encounter anyone else within the Outer God space?”

The Old Man facing Bai Yu wore a troubled expression, this particular outcome evidently causing him considerable distress.

Bai Yu nodded.

“Precisely. From the moment I stepped into that place, I encountered no living beings other than monsters.”

“This is deeply concerning. It suggests that each individual might be entering an independent space, which would drastically diminish their chances of survival.”

“I’m truly sorry.”

Bai Yu’s expression grew troubled, for she had already divulged everything to the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau, save for the matter of [Morpheus’s Whisper].

She knew that if she were to reveal this particular detail, others would inevitably conflate the dreamscape she had entered with the Outer God space.

Yet, she was perfectly aware that she had already broken the dream’s curse, recognizing these as two entirely separate occurrences.

Should she mention the existence of her gun, there was a significant risk of her being branded as the summoner of the Outer God.

Such a revelation would be perilous, and she had no desire to invite unnecessary trouble.

“In that case, there’s no further issue, Your Excellency Bai Yu. We appreciate your assistance.”

“It’s quite alright. I’ll take my leave now.”

Upon departing the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau headquarters, Bai Yu accompanied Lu Xingyao to a waiting car.

Bai Yu blinked in confusion as she looked at Lu Xingyao, musing that this certainly wasn’t a ride-hailing service.

“My family sent it for me. After all, taking a taxi every single day would be far too inconvenient.”

“Wait, Xingyao, do you even have a driver’s license?”

Bai Yu was utterly bewildered. Upon seeing the car’s emblem, she had assumed it belonged to some high-ranking official from the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau, never imagining it could possibly be Lu Xingyao’s.

‘She’s truly a rich lady!’

“Naturally. I passed my test when I was sixteen.”

Lu Xingyao scooped Bai Yu into her arms and gently deposited her into the passenger seat.

Seated in such a luxurious vehicle for the very first time, Bai Yu felt a slight unfamiliarity, weakly fastening her seatbelt.

Lu Xingyao started the car, and as she shifted gears, she subtly brushed Bai Yu’s thigh.

Bai Yu glanced down, dismissing it as an accidental touch from Lu Xingyao.

‘Why does Lu Xingyao seem so peculiar lately, always initiating physical contact?’

“Oh, by the way, Xiaoyu, where did you get that gun?”

As the vehicle sped along the highway, Bai Yu began to feel drowsy.

“It was in that hidden space within the warehouse. The Old Man who guarded the entrance gave it to me, saying he’d bestow it upon me if I broke the curse.”

“An Old Man guarding the door? Who was even inside that place?”

Lu Xingyao questioned, her brow furrowed in confusion, as she had no recollection of anyone being there.

“How could that be? If there was no one, then who was managing all those items?”

“All those items are the Principal’s collection. Whether you’re accepting a task or purchasing something, you must report to the Principal. I assumed you had already spoken with her.”

“Huh? I simply injected my spiritual energy and entered directly. Wasn’t that what you did last time too?”

“No, last time I only went because I had the Principal’s explicit permission.”

A chill instantly ran down Bai Yu’s spine. ‘Was she being haunted?’

“I can’t be haunted, can I? Then where on earth did this gun come from?”

Lu Xingyao racked her brain, yet she couldn’t conjure any image of an Old Man.

Given that the academy’s upper echelon consisted of only a select few individuals, it was impossible for her not to know them all.

“It’s highly unlikely. Still, Xiaoyu, you needn’t worry; this gun appears to be harmless for now. Just keep an eye on the Principal moving forward.”

“The Principal? What’s wrong with her?”

Bai Yu recalled the benevolent elderly woman, for whom she harbored a certain fondness.

“Lately, I’ve had a persistent feeling that something isn’t quite right with her. Behind her gentle smile, I sense something else entirely. In any case, Xiaoyu, just be careful.”

“Understood.”

“Moweila, is there anything unusual about that Old Man?”

Bai Yu thought of the witch residing within her. If the Old Man were truly a ghost or spirit, Moweila surely would have detected it.

[I am not omnipotent, nor have I detected anything amiss.]

A pang of disappointment struck Bai Yu. She felt utterly powerless, knowing so little.

With matters as they stood, perhaps sleep was the best course of action.

Despite being within a dream, the accumulated physical exhaustion and the drain on her spiritual energy had left her utterly spent.

She drifted off to sleep right there in the car.

Lu Xingyao cast a gaze toward Bai Yu in the passenger seat, her eyes lingering on those adorable, rosy lips.

She couldn’t help but swallow, a feeling creeping over her that she was increasingly resembling a pervert.

Yet, she found herself utterly unable to resist. Ever since Bai Yu had transformed into this little girl, Lu Xingyao had lost all control over her impulses.

When Bai Yu had still been male, Lu Xingyao had managed to restrain herself, contenting herself with secret glances and covert observations.

It seemed that, compared to Bai Yu’s former appearance, she was far more captivated by Bai Yu as a girl.

She couldn’t help but marvel at Bai Yu’s innate power, which allowed them to experience such profound feelings even despite being of the same gender.

Thus, Lu Xingyao continued to observe Bai Yu, and upon confirming that she was indeed fast asleep, she immediately leaned in and pressed her lips against Bai Yu’s small, delicate mouth.

She completely disregarded the fact that she was currently driving—a highly dangerous act for ordinary individuals, but not for her.

For a mystic like Lu Xingyao, whose spiritual core was [Self], such maneuvers were child’s play.

With unrestrained abandon, she immersed herself in every sensation of Bai Yu, quietly embracing her.

“Mmm~”

The deeply sleeping Bai Yu emitted a soft, adorable sound, yet remained fast asleep.

This only served to heighten Lu Xingyao’s excitement, causing her to fully immerse herself in the moment, gradually growing more intimate with Bai Yu.

This continued for several minutes, ceasing only when both of them were thoroughly imbued with the other’s scent.

Lu Xingyao found herself slightly breathless; the sensation was incredibly exhilarating.

Her only disappointment was that Bai Yu wasn’t awake to experience it. She primarily feared that if Bai Yu discovered her true intentions, she would come to despise her.

The lingering connection, like broken lotus roots, appeared exquisitely beautiful under the moon’s gentle glow.

The delicate maiden, the flawless girl, achieved their first fusion within the rapidly moving car.

Still lost in the girl’s sweet fragrance, Lu Xingyao remained entirely unaware that Bai Yu had, in fact, already awakened.

Bai Yu was now frantically attempting to control her expression and breathing, for she knew not how mortifying it would be if she were to stir at this very moment.

It was then that she finally grasped Lu Xingyao’s true intentions.

‘So she truly harbored ulterior motives. My first kiss… just gone, like that.’

A whirlwind of thoughts spun through Bai Yu’s mind at that moment; she honestly didn’t know how she would ever face Lu Xingyao again.

Yet, a part of her felt that maintaining this relationship wouldn’t be so bad. After all, with such a beautiful girl, she certainly wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.

‘No, I can’t be thinking such depraved thoughts.’
