Chapter 102: The Grotesque Witch and the Silvermoon Slash

Just as Bai Yu was comforting Xiao An, the Shadow Pup suddenly spun around and roared incessantly in a particular direction.

“Hooowl! Hooowl! Hooowl!”

Xiao An’s previously docile expression twisted into a furious snarl; she bared her mouth, revealing sharp, pointed fangs, transforming the entire wolf into an exceptionally ferocious beast.

Upon seeing Xiao An’s sudden transformation, Bai Yu immediately understood the gravity of the situation.

She swiftly drew the white scythe from her storage relic, gripping it with both hands, and cast her gaze towards the direction Xiao An was barking.

Her eyes fell upon a parked bus, which was now vibrating violently, as if something immense was pounding against its interior.

“Moweila, can you sense what kind of place this is?”

Bai Yu inquired of Moweila, as she remained uncertain whether the emerging entity was a Shadow Beast or something else entirely.

[This doesn’t quite feel like a true world; it’s more akin to a sub-space created by some entity, though significantly inferior to the dreams Morpheus crafts. This place is not only considerably smaller but also remarkably unstable.]

[There’s no need to overly concern yourself with this situation. Given that the opponent hasn’t immediately launched an attack, they either harbor alternative motives or possess insufficient strength. Regardless of the reason, you will find them easily manageable.]

“Mm.”

Bai Yu nodded in agreement; Moweila’s assessment mirrored her own. If the adversary’s true objective was her demise, they would never have afforded her such an ample window for preparation.

At that very moment, the monstrosity behind the bus fully revealed itself, its immense power instantly tearing the vehicle to shreds.

Metal fragments scattered in every direction, one piece hurtling directly towards Bai Yu.

“Damn it!”

Bai Yu swiftly dodged the incoming shrapnel, her expression grim as she gazed towards the now mangled remains of the bus.

The creature’s physique was even more colossal than she had envisioned, and its grotesque nature surpassed her wildest imaginings.

“What in the world is that thing?”

Bai Yu’s brows furrowed deeply as she stared at the colossal monster before her, tightening her grip on the scythe.

If she were forced to describe it, the monster bore a chilling resemblance to the Lickers from the Resident Evil films, its entire body hairless and covered in exposed, skin-like muscle.

Terrifying spikes protruded from its back, appearing as if bones had violently erupted from its flesh.

The creature was even eyeless, its head entirely enveloped by grotesque, fleshy growths.

As if sensing Bai Yu’s presence, it swiveled its immense body to face her, its chain-like tail continuously sweeping back and forth.

“ROOAARRR!!!”

The monster roared furiously, its voice hoarse and guttural; Bai Yu even discerned notes of hatred and malevolence within its savage cries.

[Something is amiss with this creature.]

Moweila suddenly spoke, a faint note of surprise discernible in her voice.

“What’s wrong with this monster? Is it exceptionally powerful?”

[No, judging by its spiritual fluctuations, this creature certainly doesn’t reach the Fifth Tier; it merely possesses the aura of a peak Fourth-Tier entity. However, I distinctly sensed the presence of a Witch from within its body!]

“The aura of a Witch?”

Bai Yu was utterly surprised. Could it be that this monster before her was also a Witch, just like herself?

Yet, no matter how she examined it, the creature bore no resemblance to a Witch. It was utterly hideous, revoltingly ugly.

Bai Yu mentally disparaged the monster’s appearance.

“This ugly freak is a Witch?”

Bai Yu had even blurted the thought aloud.

The monster, possessing exceptionally sensitive hearing, instantly erupted in a furious rage, despite its previous cautious stance.

It was as if Bai Yu’s words had directly struck its most sensitive nerve.

“Hooowl! Hooowl! Hooowl!”

The monster dropped to all fours and instantly lunged at Bai Yu.

“I’ve been waiting for you!”

Without the slightest hesitation, Bai Yu raised her hand and fired a shot; Morpheus’s Whisper, a pistol, discharged from her hip, unleashing a torrent of spiritual energy.

The spiritual bullet precisely struck the monster’s head.

Tenfold dynamic strength was certainly no laughing matter.

With a resounding bang, the monster was instantly plunged into a state of rigid paralysis by the bullet, causing it to stumble violently.

Bai Yu would never let such an opportunity pass. Gripping her white scythe, she charged forward, carving a horrifying, deep gash into the monster’s flesh.

“Hooowl! Hooowl! Hooowl!”

The monster roared incessantly, its cries filled with unconcealed frustration and fury.

It thrashed its body wildly, biting frantically, desperate to tear Bai Yu to shreds.

However, Bai Yu immediately began to retreat; cautious as she was, she would never expose herself to unnecessary risk.

The wounds on the monster’s body were deep enough to expose bone, and this was merely a standard strike from Bai Yu, yet it had severely wounded this powerful Fourth-Tier creature.

Just as Bai Yu found the opportune moment to launch another assault, a strange mutation in the monster made her frown.

Flesh buds began to sprout from the monster’s gaping wounds, rapidly repairing the damage to its body.

‘This is no ordinary monster, after all!’

A surge of caution immediately rose in Bai Yu’s heart; she knew this monster was not the only adversary in this place.

The true creator of this sub-space had yet to reveal themselves; this creature was, at best, merely a crude enforcer.

‘I must end this quickly.’

[Aura Concealment]

For the first time, Bai Yu activated this newly acquired secret art.

For enemies possessing sight, this secret art was only truly effective when they were unable to perceive her.

However, for a sightless entity like this monster, the secret art was nothing short of a divine skill.

Almost the instant Bai Yu activated [Aura Concealment], the monster began to frantically search, peering around in all directions as if it had utterly lost its target, unable to locate Bai Yu.

After searching fruitlessly for a while, it seemed to detect Xiao An’s aura and immediately charged towards her.

Bai Yu immediately instructed Xiao An to bolt, luring the monster away.

Even against a Fourth-Tier opponent, a Shadow Wolf, with its superior speed, could barely manage to create distance, yet this was only possible due to Bai Yu’s abundant spiritual energy.

An ordinary person would never possess such reserves to squander.

‘It’s time to end this,’ Bai Yu thought.

Bai Yu wasted no further time; despite the monster being a Fourth-Tier entity, its vulnerabilities were glaringly obvious, requiring little effort from her to dispatch it.

[Silvermoon Slash]

Bai Yu predicted the monster’s trajectory, and twenty silver-white light blades surged from the air, hurtling towards the creature.

Bai Yu launched them in two groups of ten, aiming specifically for the monster’s hind legs.

Unlike her direct scythe attacks, Silvermoon Slash was not amplified tenfold, making it challenging to inflict substantial damage on the monster.

However, her spiritual energy was boundless, and secret arts were not bound by the mechanics of games; there was no such concept as a cooldown.

This was truly infinite firepower, not just empty boast, for reality cared little for discussions of battle balance.

Xiao An immediately detected Bai Yu’s Silvermoon Slash and swiftly repositioned herself, maneuvering the monster into the optimal state to receive Bai Yu’s onslaught.

Xiao An spun around, then leapt, vaulting directly over the monster’s colossal form.

The monster froze for a split second, its immense body rendering its movements exceptionally sluggish.

In this state of paralysis, Bai Yu’s Silvermoon Slash attacks arrived in quick succession.
