Chapter 122: The Angel’s Aftermath and a Captain’s Surprise

The ship swayed precariously, nearly capsizing.

Captain Li Hua was utterly distressed; though she possessed countermeasures, the sheer magnitude of the situation was beyond anything she had anticipated.

Stella, too, burst from her room, a saw-blade clutched in her hand, her gaze sweeping over their surroundings.

The immense spiritual energy that had just surged was unlike anything belonging to anyone aboard the ship.

Yet, she knew with chilling certainty: this was the spiritual energy of Heaven!

She had once sensed such spiritual energy emanating from that scythe, but never with such overwhelming intensity.

‘Could Heaven be descending upon the world once more?’

Stella’s heart pounded furiously.

‘Surely, they weren’t so unlucky as to stumble upon such a monumental event.’

Stepping onto the deck, Stella immediately spotted the girl with pristine white wings and golden hair.

“An angel?”

Stella froze, bewildered.

‘How could an angel possibly appear here?’

Then, Stella watched as the angel soared directly towards the heart of the tsunami.

“Faster, faster!”

Bai Yu frantically flapped her wings, reaching the epicenter of the colossal wave.

‘She had truly caused a disaster this time; she could only hope there would be no casualties.’

The sight before her sent a chill through Bai Yu’s heart.

A single drop of blood floated in the air, its intense heat completely vaporizing the surrounding seawater, unleashing terrifying, scorching steam.

‘This thing was an absolute weapon of mass destruction, far more potent than any secret art or wondrous item.’

‘Bai Yu mused that she wouldn’t need to bother with combat techniques anymore; a few drops of this blood, flung at anyone, would guarantee their instantaneous vaporization.’

However, Bai Yu knew this was merely wishful thinking; reality was undoubtedly far more complex.

Nevertheless, similar offensive capabilities were certainly worth considering.

Bai Yu swiftly flew, halting abruptly beside the blood bead suspended mid-air.

“How do I get this back now?”

Bai Yu reached out, touching it with her finger, and the blood bead dissolved into her skin as seamlessly as water merging with water.

The churning seawater finally stilled, returning to a tranquil calm, while the terrifying heat and scorching steam dissipated into the sky.

“Whew, finally dealt with that.”

Bai Yu had once again saved everyone.

As for why she saved them, one shouldn’t ask.

She flew back to the surface, turning her head just as her gaze met Stella’s.

For a moment, their eyes locked.

Bai Yu, flapping her wings, observed Stella’s prepared stance before awkwardly scratching her head.

“Hahaha, Stella, good morning!”

Stella was utterly dumbfounded.

The angel before her possessed a face identical to Bai Yu’s.

Though she couldn’t be entirely certain, Bai Yu’s characteristic expression and habit of scratching her head left Stella with little doubt: this was indeed Bai Yu.

‘No, wait, why does her hair always change color? Does she possess other spiritual cores?’

At this point, Stella had completely abandoned her conventional understanding.

She felt that with Bai Yu, nothing that happened to her could truly be surprising.

Bai Yu flew back onto the deck, deftly retracting her wings.

In an instant, nothing remained on her back save for two small openings, her skin as smooth as before.

Stella draped her own jacket over Bai Yu, as the latter was only wearing a dress and leggings and seemed to be feeling the chill.

“It’s fine, I’m not cold at all.”

Bai Yu said with a sigh of resignation.

While her surface body temperature remained the same, the temperature of her blood coursed beyond imagination; how could she possibly feel cold?

“So, could you perhaps explain what exactly happened? And how many more secrets are you keeping from me?”

Stella pulled Bai Yu close, burying her face against her chest.

A wave of warmth instantly spread across Bai Yu’s cheeks.

‘So comfortable!’

‘Bai Yu instantly succumbed, feeling as though she could simply drift off to sleep right there.’

Yet, her rational mind urged her that now was not the time; a thorough explanation was imperative.

“Didn’t you promise I’d always be with you? Why didn’t you tell me.”

Stella held Bai Yu tightly, a hint of unease coloring her embrace.

“I’m sorry, I never imagined it would cause such a commotion…”

Bai Yu admitted, her voice tinged with guilt.

“Who turns into an angel after absorbing a wondrous item? Don’t lie to me.”

“I’m telling the truth.

I truly don’t know why it turned out like this.”

Bai Yu felt the surging blood within her, willing it to calm slightly, before allowing the internal black hole vortex to resume control of her circulation.

In an instant, Bai Yu’s hair reverted to its original white, and her eyes gleamed with their characteristic silver.

“There, much better.”

Bai Yu’s ahoge swayed.

‘She truly was a genius, learning to switch forms with such ease.’

However, the blood within her remained unchanged, and the enhancement to her physique had not vanished; only the use of Holy Flame was restricted.

Her wings, too, could extend normally, without any limitations.

‘Having too many abilities was proving to be a problem; Bai Yu felt she needed to truly master combat techniques.’

Stella caressed Bai Yu’s face, then gently pressed a kiss to her forehead.

Bai Yu didn’t resist, her face flushing as she leaned into Stella’s embrace.

Even though their contact hadn’t been prolonged, the unique aura Stella exuded and her evident affection for Bai Yu still resonated deeply with her.

‘Who wouldn’t appreciate an older sister figure utterly devoted to them?’ Bai Yu mused, though she then mentally corrected herself, ‘even if it meant being a loli-con’s target…’

‘No, that wasn’t it at all!’

‘In truth, Bai Yu suspected she might just be a bit too fond of attractive people.’

Bai Yu shook her head, choosing to dismiss such thoughts for now, and simply luxuriated in the warmth of Stella’s embrace, nestled against her chest.

Meanwhile, Captain Li Hua found herself in a predicament.

She had finally managed to activate the protective shield, ensuring the ship’s safety.

Nevertheless, it had given her quite a fright, startling the old woman profoundly.

Then, turning her head, she saw the other two individuals on deck, openly doting on each other.

This sight truly startled her, as she was unaware of the nature of Bai Yu and Stella’s relationship.

‘Could this child truly be like this, entangled in such a relationship with Stella?’

However, she recalled that Bai Yu was already betrothed to Lu Xingyao.

Given that both belonged to prominent families in the capital, it was common knowledge within their circles.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk.”

Li Hua wore a knowing, gossipy smile.

‘To think this Bai Yu was so fickle in love!’

Her desire for gossip surged.

Yet, she wasn’t inclined to inform anyone.

‘Perhaps Lu Xingyao was already aware of Bai Yu’s true nature.’

Pretending not to notice, Li Hua returned to the captain’s cabin to resume piloting the ship.

The aftershocks of the recent strait event had subsided, and Li Hua began investigating the exact location of the anomaly at sea.

However, no matter how she pondered, she couldn’t explain the occurrence of this incident.

“Strange, truly strange…”

Li Hua meticulously scrutinized the monitor, but even after half a day of research, she couldn’t discern a logical explanation.

Just as her confusion deepened, five distinct points suddenly appeared on the radar, instantly putting her on high alert.

“What is this?”

Li Hua squinted, her wrinkles deepening around her eyes.
