Join the ServerLawrence fell silent, having exhausted all his options.
Both he and the City Lord, who was secretly his son, were now at Resse’s mercy.
“How can I trust you?” Lawrence demanded furiously, purple blood oozing from the wounds on his face. “How do I know you’ll spare me after I tell you everything?”
“You have only two choices now,” Resse stated, his gaze terrifying as he fixed it on Lawrence. “Speak the truth, or… die!”
Lawrence remained silent, realizing he had no other recourse.
“Very well, I’ll tell you,” he conceded. “But you must promise to spare the new City Lord!”
“Of course,” Resse chuckled, his expression softening. “We, the God’s Great Enemy, are known for keeping our word.”
‘Hmph…’
Lawrence dared not speak, yet he was utterly without options.
“Listen closely,” Lawrence declared, his voice firm. “I’ll only say this once. If you don’t remember, I’ll die before I repeat it. This is an act of betrayal against the gods!”
What he was about to do was already blasphemy.
“Good, speak quickly,” Resse said, his face devoid of emotion.
“At the very heart of our homeland, within the Holy City, there are two devices that control everything within it.”
Lawrence frowned, struggling to reveal the truth.
“Devices? What are they? Explain yourself clearly! What does this have to do with leaving our homeland?”
Resse grew furious. He hadn’t come all this way just to listen to Lawrence speak in riddles.
However, Lawrence offered no explanation, merely continuing:
“These two devices are held by the Pope and the Noble Council in the Holy City. One controls the sun in our homeland, the other controls the moon.”
“This is the power bestowed upon the nobles and the Church by the gods, allowing them to control everything within our homeland.”
“As for what these two devices truly represent, or their connection to the ice wall and the endless blizzards, I do not know. This is beyond the scope of what someone at my level could uncover.”
Lawrence shook his head.
“I only know that the key to leaving our homeland lies within these two devices. Whether it’s to destroy them, or to control them, I cannot say…”
Lawrence took a deep breath. He had told Resse everything he knew, and in doing so, he had lost his reverence for the gods.
Even so, he had ensured the survival of the son he didn’t even know existed. This was his sole remaining wish.
“Is that all?”
Resse narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Lawrence with an expression of disbelief.
“Absolutely. Aside from this crucial information, the rest is already public knowledge. I’m sure you, the God’s Great Enemy, don’t need me to tell you that.”
Lawrence spoke with disdain.
“Indeed. So, do you have any last words?”
Resse’s face remained impassive. Although he knew he couldn’t spare this utterly wicked individual, as a long-time adversary, he still wished to grant Lawrence a final shred of dignity.
“Hmph, I knew you wouldn’t spare me!”
Lawrence chuckled, then closed his eyes. Though he had always denied it, deep down, he had long anticipated this day.
What he hadn’t expected was for it to arrive so swiftly, so terrifyingly.
Resse said nothing, drawing the saber that had accompanied him for years.
A swing of the blade, and the snake-man’s head fell.
Lawrence, deceased!
Resse gazed at the saber in his hand, stained with purple blood, his mind awash with thoughts.
He ultimately hadn’t told Lawrence that his son, the new City Lord, had been killed instantly long ago.
Not even a corpse remained.
But out of a final act of mercy, he had refrained from telling Lawrence, allowing him to cling to that last hope in his dying moments.
Resse turned, relaying all the acquired information to Laika. After all, such vital intelligence absolutely had to be shared with Bai Yu and Ellie Roth.
It could be said that ninety-nine percent of the credit for this successful battle belonged to those two.
The God’s Great Enemy was merely a title; they were the true heroes who saved their homeland.
Resse sighed. He was, after all, an old man nearing his end. To witness everyone escape this wretched place in his lifetime would allow him to rest in peace.

“The Holy City… special devices?”
In the dining hall, Bai Yu ate her steak, listening intently to the information Laika was relaying.
Because the God’s Great Enemy had eliminated all Church members and nobles in Kari City, they had garnered immense support from the town’s residents.
They were finally free; everything now belonged to them after the God’s Great Enemy took control.
Bai Yu and Ellie Roth naturally became heroes, celebrated by everyone.
The truth of the world, along with all the conspiracies within their homeland, spread like wildfire through the efforts of the God’s Great Enemy.
Making everyone aware of what lay beyond the wall was paramount, rather than letting them remain in ignorance.
After the God’s Great Enemy assumed control, the town quickly returned to normal operations.
Bai Yu no longer had to worry about food safety and could eat with peace of mind.
Though the area’s development was poor, the steak before her was quite delicious.
At the very least, she could finally enjoy a hot meal, rather than constantly nibbling on crackers.
Ellie Roth, on the other hand, hadn’t even listened to Laika’s words, having already buried her head in her meal.
“Indeed, both devices are in the Holy City, held by the Church and the Noble Council respectively. Their exact locations are unknown.”
Laika frowned. The information they had was still too scarce; it was impossible to discern a way out with just this.
Simply knowing that the ice wall and endless blizzards were connected to these two devices was far from enough.
“Don’t be sad,” Bai Yu comforted Laika.
“At least we have a target now, don’t we? We just need to get our hands on those two devices.”
Bai Yu said nonchalantly, believing this was already incredibly useful information.
“Bai Yu, that sounds simple, but the Holy City is heavily guarded. All the towns were essentially created to protect the Holy City, and its defenses are formidable. It would be incredibly difficult to break in.”
Laika shook her head.
“With the God’s Great Enemy’s strength, controlling so many towns is impossible. Stretching their front lines too thin could also lead to problems.”
“But we’re here, aren’t we?”
Bai Yu waved her hand confidently. After understanding the true power of this place, she was completely at ease.
“She and Ellie Roth can just launch a surprise attack, snatch those two devices, and that’s that.”
“It’s simple, quick, risk-free, and easy to retreat with fewer people. It’s truly the best plan.”
“This… isn’t that a bit reckless…?”
Hearing Bai Yu’s plan, Laika fell silent. Such a plan, while simple in theory, was fraught with unimaginable difficulties.
