Ellie Roth shook her head, a soft sigh of relief escaping her lips. She had not anticipated the battle proving so tenacious.
The crucial factor was her inability to use her Eye of Truth. Otherwise, she could have ended the fight within a mere minute.
Even if Lawrence had temporarily ascended to Tier 5 through some arcane means, it would have been a futile effort.
“Is *this* the Bishop?”
Bai Yu gazed at Lawrence in the distance, sprawled on the ground, his arms gone, his wounds charred, barely clinging to life.
“Yes. Have the God’s Great Enemy come quickly to interrogate him, or this fellow might die at any moment.”
Ellie Roth didn’t spare a backward glance for the defeated Lawrence. In her eyes, he was already a dead man.
Bai Yu looked with disdain at the Bishop, who lay sprawled like an insect on the ground. His grotesque appearance filled her with a sense of revulsion.
To sacrifice so much for fleeting power.
Bai Yu now truly understood how fortunate it was to become a Witch. Not only did they gain power, but they also became so enchantingly lovely.
If Bai Yu were to transform into Lawrence’s monstrous state, she would surely wish for death.
Just then, members of the God’s Great Enemy began to arrive. Seeing the snake-man on the ground, they paused, hesitant to approach.
It was only after Bai Yu instructed Laika to inform them about Lawrence that they snapped back to attention.
They immediately bound Lawrence with sturdy ropes, encircling him repeatedly to prevent any escape. However, in his current state, Lawrence had no strength left to flee anyway.
He couldn’t even stand. His legs, transformed into a serpentine tail, had lost all power.
“What are you doing? Let me go!”
The burly men effortlessly lifted Lawrence with one hand, leaving him no room to resist.
Lawrence knew well that he lacked even the strength to struggle, forced to endure being hoisted up by these formidable men.
“They’re taking you to the Church to face the judgment of the God of Light.”
The leader of the burly men spoke with contempt. In their eyes, Lawrence, a Bishop, had dared to offend the God’s Great Enemy, an unforgivable sin.
Bai Yu merely watched, her gaze cold. Lawrence, truthfully, was getting his just deserts.
Back in the Church, he had intended to use similar methods against Bai Yu. Now, however, the tables had turned, and he found himself in the very same predicament.
As for Lawrence, once these burly men lifted him, his spirit completely broke.
He knew his end had come.

Seeing himself bound, Lawrence was filled with terror, unsure of what awaited him.
“Death is at your doorstep, and you’re still so chatty!”
A member of the God’s Great Enemy kicked Lawrence squarely in the face, sending one of his teeth flying. The member glared at Lawrence with fury; his own mother had been sacrificed by this very man.
Because of that damned Audfoger, everything he held dear had been destroyed. Now, he yearned to stab the monster to death with a single strike.
“Hahahaha, you pitiful fools, the divine master will drag all of you to hell, hahahaha!”
Lawrence seemed to accept his fate, now laughing maniacally, his entire body trembling.
“You bastard!”
Just as the member moved to strike Lawrence again, Resse stepped forward. The member immediately withdrew his hand; he would never dare to act so brazenly in front of his leader.
“Lord Resse.”
Both men instantly became obedient.
“All right, you two may leave. This operation was a success. I’ll catch up with this ‘old friend’ of mine.”
Resse deliberately emphasized “old friend,” as if he had been eagerly anticipating this day. Although he hadn’t been the one to defeat Lawrence, the interrogation fell to him. After all, Ellie Roth and Bai Yu didn’t understand their language.
Laika, on the other hand, was far too timid. As a young woman, how could she be expected to handle such an interrogation? Thus, this favorable task had fallen to him, the leader.
While it might seem a bit like he was borrowing another’s prestige, Resse couldn’t concern himself with such trivialities now. The ultimate outcome remained the same: Lawrence was in his hands.
“What happened, Lawrence? How did you end up in such a state?”
‘You useless wretch, how dare you come here? I should have never let you escape before!’ Lawrence’s vertical pupils glared fiercely at Resse, his eyes brimming with rage. He had killed Resse’s entire family, yet this one had escaped. Now, he found himself in his enemy’s clutches.
“You have no idea what you’ve done!” Resse bellowed in anger, smashing his fist into Lawrence’s serpentine head.
“Agh!!!”
The tremendous blow flattened Lawrence’s snake-like head, causing purple blood to continuously stream from his mouth.
“Hahahaha, kill me! The divine master will punish you all! I won’t tell you anything!”
Lawrence laughed wildly, knowing there was no chance of survival. He only hoped that the divine master would swiftly claim his life and soul, sparing him further torment here.
“Kill you? How could I let you off so easily? Tell me, how exactly did you leave that ice wall, and how do you dispel the endless blizzard?!” Resse seized Lawrence, staring into his eyes as he spoke.
“Heh, how could I possibly tell you…”
Before Lawrence could finish, Resse plunged a knife directly into his tail.
“Aaaah!!!”
Lawrence screamed in agony, his entire body convulsing.
“Hahahaha, no matter how you torture me, it’s impossible! You want to leave your homeland? Dream on!” Lawrence laughed, refusing to reveal a single word.
Resse frowned, landing punch after punch on Lawrence’s head. “You won’t talk, huh? Still clinging to your ‘divine master,’ are you? Let’s see how long you can last!”
Lawrence’s serpentine head swelled from the blows. Yet, he still revealed no information, continuing to laugh aloud.
After a while, Resse finally stopped, staring blankly at Lawrence.
“To be frank, those two outsiders who helped us possess a method to extract memories from the dead.” Resse muttered, attempting to deceive Lawrence.
“So what? Don’t try to fool me.” Lawrence didn’t believe Resse’s words, remaining tight-lipped.
“Haha, why would I lie to you? You saw the strength of those two, didn’t you? To tell you the truth, one of them single-handedly slaughtered everyone in the City Lord’s manor.”
“What did you say?!” Lawrence suddenly grew agitated, demanding an answer. “What did you do to the new City Lord?! Speak!” Lawrence erupted in a sudden fit of panic, his voice laced with terror.
“Why the sudden panic? Did you think I didn’t know? The new City Lord is actually your son, isn’t he?” Resse smiled, uttering a shocking revelation.
“Damn you, what have you done to him?!” Lawrence began to struggle one last time, but it was futile.
“He’s still alive, of course.” Resse lied without hesitation. When dealing with such a villain, Resse had no desire to be a good person.
Upon hearing this, Lawrence finally breathed a sigh of relief, then immediately tensed up again with renewed anger.
“How can I believe you? Bring him here!” Lawrence instantly made his demand, but Resse sternly refused.
“Answer my questions, or you will all die!”
