Chapter 50: Moweila’s Revelation

Bai Yu quickly helped the two up.

Though the dream world still resembled the Middle Ages, she herself was a model student from modern society, and how could she possibly condone such an archaic practice?

“Your Highness, why have you come all the way here?”

The guard girl asked Bai Yu after being helped to her feet, her expression etched with confusion.

“Uh, I’m here to help.”

Bai Yu scratched her head, ultimately deciding to tell the truth.

Her primary purpose was to help Cecilia swiftly eliminate the Shadow Beasts that had entered this world and become demons, thereby allowing them to escape the dream world.

Beyond that, she needed Cecilia to regain her memories quickly, as in her current state, even if Bai Yu explained the truth, she wouldn’t comprehend it.

“Help?”

The two guard girls exchanged bewildered glances, clearly at a loss for Bai Yu’s words.

It was then that they noticed Xiao An by Bai Yu’s side, and the substantial group of Shadow Beasts trailing behind her.

“Oh no, Your Highness, quickly leave this place! Shadow Beasts have invaded!!”

Their attention had been solely on Bai Yu moments ago, causing them to completely overlook the Shadow Beasts accompanying her.

Crucially, the Shadow Beasts hadn’t attacked, which had prevented them from reacting immediately.

On their march, they had encountered scattered Shadow Beasts before, all of them ferociously cruel, transforming into raging beasts that would charge wildly at anyone they spotted.

“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. They’re all summoned by me; you can think of it as my magic.”

Bai Yu quickly stopped the two girls.

She couldn’t allow the Shadow Beasts she had painstakingly gathered to be killed by these individuals, or she would be utterly furious.

‘And why are they only noticing them now?’ Bai Yu wondered, ‘So many were right there, yet they hadn’t seen them before. I really did overestimate their intelligence; they’re just like those NPC maids, and their eyesight is clearly terrible.’

“Your Highness, what are you talking about? They are Shadow Beasts!”

“That’s right, they’re Shadow Beasts!”

The two guard girls exclaimed in unison.

Bai Yu felt a surge of helplessness.

“You just need to understand that I have them under control. Now, they will only obey my commands. Do you understand?”

Upon hearing Bai Yu’s explanation, the two girls nodded, seemingly understanding yet still somewhat perplexed.

“Your Highness can control demons?”

“Her Highness is so powerful! This is incredible! If this is true, doesn’t it mean we can go home soon?”

“That’s wonderful! I was so afraid we would die here this time.”

“But, controlling demons… isn’t that the ability of a Demon King?”

One of the guard girls suddenly asked.

“Uh, how could that be? This is the Princess, how could she be a Demon King?”

“You’re right, haha.”

A cold sweat broke out on Bai Yu’s back as she listened.

‘It’s a good thing these NPCs aren’t very intelligent,’ she thought, ‘If they really linked me to some ridiculous Demon King, I’d have no way to explain myself.’

“Speaking of which, where has Cecilia gone?”

Bai Yu had no desire to waste time here with these people; her immediate priority was to find Cecilia.

“The Knight Captain? She headed east, towards the demon territories. Your Highness, do you really intend to go there? Perhaps it would be better to wait for the Knight Captain to return.”

The girl spoke with concern, understanding that a princess going to the front lines was hardly an appropriate course of action.

“It’s fine, I’ll be going now. Oh, by the way, do you have any Water or Fire Demon Stones?”

Bai Yu suddenly remembered that she had used up most of those items during her journey, largely due to her penchant for cleanliness, which led her to use them frequently.

“Yes, Princess, we do! I’ll go fetch them for you right away.”

One of the guards quickly scurried off to the storeroom to retrieve some Demon Stones for Bai Yu.

“Thank you! I’m off then!”

Upon receiving the Demon Stones, Bai Yu noticed that the ones used by the army were slightly superior to those found in the palace.

‘The military truly is the top priority,’ she mused.

Mounting Xiao An, Bai Yu galloped swiftly eastward.

The two guard girls returned to their posts, resuming their duties.

The fierce wind whistled past Bai Yu’s ears.

‘Open plains truly are the best terrain for a swift run,’ she thought.

In the forest, Xiao An had to navigate winding paths, making Bai Yu’s ride uncomfortable.

However, Xiao An’s fur was remarkably soft, and Bai Yu imagined that if she transformed into a human, she would undoubtedly be an adorable little loli.

“Isn’t that right, Xiao An?”

Bai Yu patted Xiao An’s head.

“Awoo?”

Xiao An turned her head, her confused gaze suggesting she couldn’t comprehend such complex words.

“Uh, fine.”

Bai Yu stopped trying to converse with the “idiot” and fixed her gaze on the distant horizon.

[There’s a familiar sensation. This is divinity!]

Moweila suddenly exclaimed in Bai Yu’s mind, startling her.

“What was that? You scared me to death!”

[Bai Yu, I know why these Shadow Beasts were drawn into the dream world. It’s because of that divinity!]

“Divinity? What is that?”

Bai Yu asked, perplexed.

[It is the absolute essence of a deity, containing a god’s power. Bai Yu, you must acquire it. This was likely left behind by that Outer God when they created this world. Because the world’s creation was incomplete, it attracted these Shadow Beasts.]

Moweila spoke with intense excitement, and it was the first time Bai Yu had witnessed the witch so agitated.

‘This is somewhat ruining her persona,’ Bai Yu thought, ‘Isn’t she supposed to be the aloof type?’

However, Moweila paid no attention to this, focusing her entire concentration on the phenomenon she called divinity.

“I understand. But since the Shadow Beasts are all searching for that thing, how am I supposed to seize it? Won’t that be a death wish?”

Bai Yu said, feeling helpless.

[As long as you directly retrieve that divinity, I can mask its aura. Without a target, the Shadow Beasts will then leave this place.]

“That simple? Can it really work?”

Bai Yu exclaimed in shock, thinking that if it were that simple, all her preparations would have been in vain.

[How could it be simple? The divinity’s location is likely surrounded by Shadow Beasts, and they cannot consume its power.]

“Cannot consume its power?”

[Of course. High-tier Shadow Beasts cannot enter this dream world, and the ones that have entered possess no ability to break through the residual energy automatically generated by the divinity.]

“Then how do we get it? Do you have a way to bypass those residual energies?”

[Certainly. In our era, deities were still active in the world, unlike now, where local gods have retreated, and Outer Gods have invaded quite extensively.]

As Moweila spoke, her tone carried a mix of helplessness and sarcasm.

[Therefore, I have a method to obtain that drop of divinity, which will be immensely beneficial for your future advancements and growth.]

“Uh, alright. But let’s find Cecilia first before we discuss this divinity.”

Bai Yu did not head directly to the place Moweila mentioned, where the divinity supposedly was.

Her subconscious warned her that it wouldn’t be particularly safe.

After all, she couldn’t blindly follow Moweila’s every instruction; she needed to think for herself.
