Chapter 77: Stella’s Revelation and the Enigmatic Scythe

It seems Tianyu is genuinely upset this time.

Just as Bai Yu and Lu Xingyao remained engrossed in Tianyu’s terrifying declaration, a woman suddenly emerged from the guest room.

“Who are you?”

Bai Yu immediately recognized the woman; she had seen her among the hunters who attacked her mother when Lu Xingyao had led her away.

The woman possessed a head of golden hair, though it was a shade duller than Cecilia’s, complementing her standard blue eyes.

This was none other than Stella, Tianyu’s former colleague, who had now betrayed the Hunter Guild alongside her.

Bai Yu instantly recoiled two steps, instinctively pulling Lu Xingyao’s hand along with her.

Though Bai Yu had no idea why this individual was here, she knew she couldn’t allow anyone close to her to be in danger.

“Xiao Yu…”

Lu Xingyao, noticing Bai Yu holding her hand, felt a blush creep onto her cheeks, thinking, ‘Xiao Yu can be quite handsome sometimes.’

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, there’s no need for such expressions. Your mother and I are quite close, and I might even become your mother’s woman, you know.”

Stella delivered this statement with a smile, revealing a relationship that utterly astonished both Bai Yu and Lu Xingyao.

“‘Become my mother?'”

The words directly overloaded Bai Yu’s cerebellum, leaving her momentarily unable to process them.

‘Can Chinese really be arranged like that? Isn’t that a bit too abstract?’

Yet, leveraging her sharp intellect, Bai Yu quickly grasped Stella’s true meaning.

“Are you implying…?”

Lu Xingyao asked, unable to believe it. It wasn’t just her; Stella apparently harbored similar inclinations.

She wondered if Bai Yu’s mother was aware of this, though Lu Xingyao firmly believed Tianyu would never agree.

“That’s right! I helped Tianyu tremendously this time, and as compensation, I’ll be staying at her place indefinitely.”

“After all, I’ve been publicly hunted by the Guild, so returning home is no longer an option.”

Stella winked at Bai Yu, stirring a wave of unease within her.

However, Bai Yu remained unconvinced, knowing her mother’s sexual orientation was not in question.

Moreover, Bai Yu was certain her mother would never agree to Stella’s proposition; she must merely be spouting nonsense.

Lu Xingyao patted Bai Yu’s shoulder.

“Xiao Yu, you left this weapon in the car.”

From a colossal box nearby, Lu Xingyao retrieved a scythe and handed it to Bai Yu.

“Huh?”

Bai Yu took the scythe, having almost forgotten about it entirely. Her mother had intended for her to use it for self-defense.

After all, Bai Yu currently lacked any proper primary weapon.

In her haste immediately after waking from the dream, she had failed to notice the scythe, which had been pushed into a corner by the car accident.

Stella smiled, “Tianyu gave you this weapon? Bringing it out this time was truly a wise decision.”

Stella chuckled, explaining that, by all rights, no hunter possessed ownership of this weapon; only a select few were granted temporary usage rights.

Having directly seized what amounted to a family heirloom of the Hunter Guild, the other side would likely be driven to madness.

“Is this weapon very powerful?”

Bai Yu inquired, noting that every time she held the weapon, a stinging sensation pulsed in her hand.

“How should I put it? The importance of this weapon…”

Stella spoke with conviction, regarding the scythe in Bai Yu’s hand.

Stella paused for dramatic effect, her gaze fixed on the scythe in Bai Yu’s hand as she smiled.

“As long as you possess that scythe, the Hunter Guild’s pursuit of you will never cease.”

Stella uttered this terrifying truth, sending a chill down Bai Yu’s spine.

“‘Wouldn’t that be incredibly dangerous? Why would I need this thing?'”

Startled, Bai Yu instinctively moved to put down the scythe she held.

Stella laughed heartily, “Hahahaha, it’s fine. Since Tianyu gave it to you, she must have her reasons. You don’t need to worry about that for now.”

Stella’s irresponsible words left Bai Yu somewhat speechless.

‘Can my cheap mother really be trusted?’

“Do you know? This thing is said to be forged from the metal of heaven, tempered by the unceasing holy flames.”

Stella spoke with a serious expression.

[I’ve told you before, this thing is excellent. No matter what, you must keep it. Its importance to your body is far greater than I imagined.]

Moweila’s voice startled Bai Yu, leaving her with a tinge of confusion.

“‘My body? Isn’t this just a weapon?'”

Bai Yu constantly felt that her line of thought and Moweila’s were completely divergent, existing at opposite ends of a spectrum.

[Hmph! Ignorance! That woman, too, doesn’t understand the true way to use this thing at all!]

Moweila seemed incredibly excited, relentlessly mocking Stella’s ignorance. Fortunately, no one else could hear Moweila speak.

“‘Alright, alright, you’re so smart. So what exactly is this thing for?'”

[Hmph, do you still remember that drop of Divine Radiance you absorbed?]

Moweila abruptly changed the subject, causing Bai Yu to pause.

“‘Of course I remember. Why do you bring that up?'”

[Back then, I told you that using Divine Radiance could grant you power comparable to a deity, but your body couldn’t possibly withstand such might. At that time, even death would have been a luxury for you.]

“‘Hmph, I certainly remember that. Can this weapon allow me to bear such power?'”

Bai Yu asked inwardly, surprised.

[It’s not the weapon itself; it’s what’s contained within it. This weapon is merely a wedge; the material it’s made from is the truly important thing.]

‘The material? Are you referring to the metal of heaven?’

[Precisely! You might not know what this signifies because, at present, this weapon is in a dormant state. Its true capabilities extend far beyond what you can imagine.]

Moweila was utterly ecstatic at that moment, as if she had just laid eyes on a divine artifact.

[Reverse Metal! To think this thing could appear in the real world—your luck is simply incredible! Quickly, put it away. Now, go prepare the instruments I mentioned. The sooner you absorb this, the better, lest complications arise.]

‘Reverse Metal? What is that?’

[It’s a type of divine material, a product that should be utterly impossible to find in the mortal realm. In short, just hurry!]

Moweila urged Bai Yu on, fearing that the weapon in her hands might vanish without a trace.

“‘Uh, alright. But why does this thing hurt me?'”

Bai Yu questioned Moweila, as merely touching the item inflicted a burning pain upon her body.

[That’s a foolish question! You’re a Witch, so materials with divine properties are bound to harm you!]

Moweila was speechless, much like how silver items affect vampires; this kind of material had a special effect against their race.

“‘So, if I have to absorb this, won’t I be…?'”

Bai Yu felt a shiver of apprehension, unable to fathom the agony of being constantly burned. Would she be torturing herself?

[That’s precisely why preparations are necessary. I understand the Witch race far better than you do; they possess immense malleability. There’s no need to worry.]

Upon hearing Moweila’s explanation, Bai Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
