Chapter 80: The Witch of the End’s Past

After the battle, Bai Yu finally succumbed to Lu Xingyao, defeated and collapsing onto the bed.

‘This was truly exhausting.’

Bai Yu closed her eyes, utterly drained by the tide magic she had just employed.

With that, Bai Yu drifted into slumber.

Within her dream, Bai Yu seemed to witness a multitude of memories that were not her own.

They all belonged to a figure both familiar and foreign, flitting through the corridors of her mind.

“Is this Moweila?”

Bai Yu could sense that she was dreaming, yet this dream differed significantly from the dream worlds crafted by Lili.

This was an ethereal dream, one where she existed merely as an observer, watching the world unfold before her.

In this moment, Bai Yu found herself in a study, a young girl seated at the desk before her, whose appearance struck Bai Yu as both familiar and strange.

Though Bai Yu conversed with Moweila daily, she had never truly seen Moweila’s actual appearance.

Nevertheless, Bai Yu knew with absolute certainty that the girl before her was Moweila.

Just as Moweila could perceive Bai Yu’s memories, Bai Yu was now able to glimpse Moweila’s past through this dream.

The girl possessed long silver hair and silver eyes, a visage almost identical to Bai Yu’s current appearance.

Only her features and stature differed slightly, making her, in essence, an enlarged version of Bai Yu.

She sat upon a chair, engrossed in a book, her eyes scanning the pages; every word she read seemed to imprint itself deeply within her mind.

‘So this is Moweila’s true appearance…’

Bai Yu was unsure what to feel; her understanding of Moweila was incredibly limited, gleaned only from her companion’s words.

She knew only that Moweila was the last of the Witches, bearing the title of the Witch of the End.

‘Such a being must surely be solitary.’

A complex mix of emotions stirred within Bai Yu, despite Moweila often uttering things that left her speechless.

Yet, without Moweila, Bai Yu might have perished in battle long ago, never achieving her current strength.

Bai Yu glanced at her hands, realizing she existed as an ethereal phantom within the dream, completely unseen by the Moweila of this dream.

Bai Yu slowly stepped forward, approaching Moweila.

Even Bai Yu found herself holding her breath at the sight of such stunning beauty, despite her consistent belief that she herself was the cutest.

However, she now had to concede that Moweila could certainly contend with her own charm.

Indeed, it was more accurate to say that the Witch race possessed truly flawless beauty, utterly devoid of any imperfections.

Bai Yu froze, as the Moweila before her seemed to detect something, lowering her book and looking up.

This startled Bai Yu, who had feared that even in her phantom state, she could be perceived.

Moreover, she was within Moweila’s memories; how could she possibly influence the past?

Moweila gazed towards Bai Yu’s invisible location, furrowing her brow with a hint of surprise.

“Why do I feel like I’m being watched? Is it just my imagination? There’s nothing there.”

Moweila murmured to herself, her brow still furrowed as she pondered, unable to understand the sensation of being observed.

Witnessing this, Bai Yu’s heart reeled with shock.

How could Moweila possibly detect her, a mere observer, in this present moment?

She was merely within a memory, not having traveled to the past; how could Moweila have sensed her?

‘Had she already reached such a level that she could perceive her future self?’

Bai Yu quickly dismissed the thought; the more she considered it, the more terrifying it became, and she decided it was better not to dwell on such ideas.

At that moment, Moweila also set down her book and rose to her feet.

As she left the study and flung open the door, Bai Yu felt the entire world enveloped in a blinding flash of white light.

Bai Yu closed her eyes, bewildered as to why she would experience such a sensation even within a dream.

After the intense light subsided, Bai Yu opened her eyes to find the surroundings utterly transformed, revealing a desolate and barren plain.

An air of grim solemnity pervaded the area, making Bai Yu intensely uncomfortable.

It felt like a battlefield, countless bodies undoubtedly interred beneath the soil.

The scene that unfolded next not only confirmed Bai Yu’s suspicions but also completely shattered her understanding of combat.

Not far from her, amidst swirling yellow sand, a lone girl stood still, clutching an oddly shaped staff.

Her long silver-white hair billowed in the wind, yet remained untouched by the dust and grit of the swirling sand.

She was still utterly flawless, without a single speck of blemish upon her entire being.

Dressed in a long black gown, devoid of any adornments on her head, she exuded an ethereal beauty that transcended the mundane.

Bai Yu was captivated, staring in awe.

The person before her was indeed Moweila, and though Bai Yu didn’t know what she was doing, her mere presence rooted Bai Yu to the spot.

Soon enough, Bai Yu understood why Moweila was here.

The cacophony of pounding hooves and clashing weapons drifted from the distance, drawing Bai Yu’s gaze.

Gazing into the distance, Bai Yu’s eyes widened instantly, unable even to blink.

How vast was that army?

Amidst the yellow sand-swept plains, Bai Yu could only describe it as boundless.

Even a sea of people would pale in comparison.

It was too many, far too many.

Moreover, they were all fully armored knights, some bearing the insignia of the Church.

Their target was unmistakably Moweila, standing alone.

Moweila simply stood there, a solitary figure.

Yet, Moweila showed no inclination to retreat; her silver-white eyes revealed nothing but cold indifference and utter disdain for life.

It was then that Bai Yu finally glimpsed a fraction of the power inherent in the Witch of the End.

The terrifying sight of one person standing as an army unfolded before Bai Yu’s very eyes.

The Church’s army, however, halted hundreds of meters from Moweila, daring not to advance further.

They adopted such a defensive stance merely to face a single individual.

Moweila remained still, and Bai Yu, stunned, slowly moved to stand beside her.

She discovered, to her disbelief, that Moweila was smiling.

It was a smile laced with mockery, and Bai Yu sensed Moweila’s dismissive contempt.

Just then, Moweila moved abruptly.

She spun her staff, pointing its obsidian-studded end directly at the army.

In an instant, the army reacted, immediately fanning out into formation, preparing to meet the impending attack.

But it was too late; without any preamble, the tip of Moweila’s staff erupted with inky black flames, and serpentine tendrils of fire fanned out, coiling around every soldier in the army.

The inextinguishable flames would reduce everything to ash.
