Chapter 94: A Mother’s Dilemma and a Daughter’s Resolve

Wha—!!!

Who is it!

The sudden turn of events startled Bai Yu, who, upon regaining her senses, immediately wanted to strike out.

However, Tianyu swiftly caught her small fist.

“What, still going to hit your mother?”

Tianyu’s expression remained impassive, as if gazing at an idiot, as she looked at Bai Yu.

“Mother, it’s you! What exactly are you doing? You scared me to death!”

“What were you doing in Stella’s room!”

Tianyu’s gaze was piercing, fixed intently on Bai Yu, as though trying to discern something hidden within her eyes.

“She didn’t do anything to you, did she?”

Tianyu spoke with a hint of suspicion, well aware of Stella’s sexual orientation.

Having been pursued for so long without her consent, and now firmly rejected, Stella would likely settle down for a while.

However, Tianyu’s greatest fear was that Stella might make a move on her child within their own home.

“Of course not! I was just going to comfort her, especially since you, Mother, rejected her.”

“Hmph, anyone would have rejected her. It’s not like I transitioned from male like you; my sexual orientation is perfectly normal!”

Tianyu spoke with a sigh of resignation.

Though harsh, this rejection would hopefully put an end to Stella’s relentless pursuit.

“Uh…”

Bai Yu found herself somewhat speechless.

How had this conversation suddenly turned to her?

What was wrong with her having become a girl?

“Oh, right, Mother, do you know of any safe way to reach international waters?”

Bai Yu deftly changed the subject, feeling it was time to prepare.

“International waters? What do you intend to do there?”

Tianyu furrowed her brow.

The dangers there far surpassed imagination, and she struggled to comprehend Bai Yu’s motivation for such a venture.

“Well, I’ll probably need to absorb something that can enhance my physique, and I’m worried about creating too much of a stir.”

Bai Yu did not lie, knowing that Tianyu would easily see through any fabrication.

Tianyu hesitated for a moment.

She had no desire to pry further into the specifics, her primary concern being Bai Yu’s safety; everything else felt secondary.

“Xiao Yu, are you truly set on becoming an Arcanist? It’s not too late to stop now and simply live a normal life.”

Tianyu spoke earnestly, her voice heavy with meaning.

The reason she had never broached these topics with Bai Yu since the Outer God’s arrival was her hope that Bai Yu would return to an ordinary existence.

She understood the perils and brutality inherent in the world of Arcanists, a path where countless individuals met an early demise.

“I’ve already made my decision. Ordinary people, devoid of power, are merely lambs to the slaughter. Relying on anyone else is useless.”

Bai Yu’s words were resolute, her gaze unwavering, leaving Tianyu utterly speechless.

“If that is your resolve, then so be it. So be it.”

Tianyu shook her head in resignation.

Ultimately, Bai Yu’s chosen path was her own, and Tianyu could only offer her utmost support.

As for the rest, that would be left to fate.

“You wish to go to international waters? Very well, but Stella must accompany you. I wouldn’t feel at ease with you going alone.”

Tianyu finally relented.

After all, she had no desire to interfere with Bai Yu’s development, and it seemed Bai Yu had a clear plan for her own growth.

Though Tianyu remained unaware of how Bai Yu had acquired so many resources.

She knew that Bai Yu was now under the scrutiny of the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau and had connections with powerful families like Lu Yao’s.

Even if Tianyu wished to intervene, there was little she could do, so it was better to let Bai Yu pursue her own path.

“Excellent! But why aren’t you taking me, Mother?”

Bai Yu readily agreed, yet a flicker of confusion remained.

Her mother was, after all, considerably stronger than Stella.

“I simply believe Bai Yu would prefer that I not interfere.”

“I have some matters to attend to—some individuals who should have perished but did not. I’ve uncovered some information these past few days.”

Tianyu’s voice was frigid, imbued with an aura of lethal intent.

Bai Yu swallowed hard, surmising that the individual who had impersonated her mother was likely in for a truly dreadful time.

That impostor probably never imagined that Bai Yu would not only emerge unscathed but also grow stronger because of the ordeal, perhaps even dying of sheer rage.

“Oh, and take this.”

As if remembering something, Tianyu pressed a bank card into Bai Yu’s hand.

“What is this?”

Bai Yu stared at the card in her hand, utterly stunned.

Her mother was actually giving her living expenses, and it appeared to be a substantial amount.

“There are a billion Dragon Summer coins in there. Unless you plan on buying something utterly extravagant, it should be enough for a considerable time.”

“This also includes your resources for advancing as an Arcanist. It might seem like a lot, but in the realm of Arcanists, it’s not quite as much.”

Tianyu stated calmly.

Bai Yu, however, stood rooted to the spot, astonished by the sheer generosity.

If she were to sell all the items she had acquired for free, she could probably repay her debts immediately.

Yet, Bai Yu had no intention of settling all her debts at once, as she still required resources for her own advancement.

She estimated that it wouldn’t be long before she possessed ample capability to repay everything.

“Understood!”

Bai Yu happily pocketed the card, feigning a serious demeanor.

Tianyu shook her head, then gently stroked Bai Yu’s hair.

Even now, Tianyu found it somewhat difficult to fully accept that her son had completely transformed into a daughter.

However, such an adorable face left Tianyu with nothing to say, and there was no way to reverse the change.

Just then, a message arrived on Bai Yu’s phone: the package from the Dragon Summer Investigation Bureau headquarters had finally arrived.

She quickly rushed to the door, where she saw a spatial rift.

A claw emerged from it, placing a package directly in front of the door.

It seemed they knew Bai Yu was there.

Bai Yu was unsure if it was some secret art or a wondrous artifact, but it was certainly effective.

She speculated that the headquarters likely spent most of their time preparing the items she needed.

After all, delivery only took an instant; the bulk of the time was undoubtedly consumed by bureaucratic review and approval processes.

Otherwise, at this speed, her Heaven’s Cauldron would have arrived long ago.

Bai Yu stepped out, retrieved the package, and immediately brought it back to her room.

Given the sheer volume, the headquarters thoughtfully included a storage-type artifact—truly, the headquarters was rich and powerful.

Bai Yu meticulously sorted through everything, preparing the ritual materials required for her breakthrough.

She intended to commence her breakthrough to [Evernight] tonight, having waited far too long.

Knowledge, spirituality, and ritual—Bai Yu had all three components ready.

All that remained was the solemn arrival of nightfall.

She would now begin reading, as she had yet to delve into the books containing the necessary knowledge.

As for spirituality, hers was completely overflowing, leaving no room for concern.

The materials required for the ritual had also been meticulously categorized by Bai Yu.

A massive, intricate pile of items, these things, if converted into monetary value, would amount to an astronomical sum.

This was likely the most extravagant first-to-second-tier breakthrough in history.

After all, this was Bai Yu’s genuine, proper first breakthrough; her other two advancements had been accidental, passive occurrences.

Her [Stars] spiritual core had even already reached the third tier, though it had been stalled due to [Evernight].

After tonight, she would be a fully-fledged third-tier Arcanist.
