Join the ServerThe corridor was longer than expected. Every few meters, two doors stood facing each other on either side. The lighting was dim, and Pereti held up her lantern, barely managing to illuminate a narrow path ahead.
Lirna, despite clearly being a god, walked unusually slowly—as if she were deliberately stalling for time.
“Back then, you mentioned the name A Ming to me. Who is she? Is she also a god?”
This wasn’t the first time Lirna had brought up that name. Outside the city of Falisa, she had mentioned A Ming as well, even saying she was her subordinate. It had left a deep question in Pereti’s mind.
At the time, because of their opposing positions, she hadn’t pressed further. But now that she had the chance, she naturally wanted to find out exactly what this A Ming was.
“You don’t know?” Lirna suddenly stopped, her voice tinged with clear surprise.
Normally, when a god chooses their divine follower, they personally meet them—without exception. So every divine follower should know their god’s name and appearance. Because of that, Lirna had assumed Pereti already knew who A Ming was and hadn’t thought much of it.
“I don’t. What A Ming? I’ve never even heard that name.”
The corridor fell into a brief silence. Light and shadows flickered. Only after a long pause did Lirna speak again.
“I thought you had already met her.”
As she spoke, Lirna began explaining.
“A Ming—her true name is Liuming. She is the God of Light worshipped by the Holy Light Church, and also a dual-divinity god who governs both light and darkness. You—and the witch called Feiye—can both be considered her children.”
“Unlike most gods, Liuming has very few divine followers. Among those still alive, including you, there are only four. In all of history, the total number hasn’t even reached double digits.”
“Four? Then who are the other two?”
“Two little bats. One of them is the Vampire Queen—an ancient monster who has lived since primordial times. Just in terms of age, she’s probably older than me.”
“Vampire Queen…” Pereti repeated silently to herself.
She remembered the white-haired girl from her dream—the one standing beside her, whom she had called Your Majesty the Queen.
If she remembered correctly, her name seemed to be… Xila.
“That Queen… is her name Xila?”
Lirna stopped mid-step and turned to look at Pereti, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
That old bat had been holed up in her castle for hundreds of years without coming out. Logically, the people who knew her were either long dead or just as reclusive.
“How do you know that?”
“Feiye told me that name,” Pereti replied casually, brushing it off with an excuse.
She didn’t know anything about her past with Feiye anyway, so making something up was easy—and Lirna wouldn’t suspect anything.
As expected, Lirna turned her head away and didn’t pursue it further, continuing instead:
“Although A Ming’s followers are few, she is the most protective among all gods. That’s also why I’m unwilling to become your enemy.”
“But you still fought us—and even knocked Feiye unconscious.”
At that, a trace of grievance crept into Lirna’s voice.
She had repeatedly warned her subordinates not to harm these two under any circumstances. Yet she never expected them to be so disobedient—starting a fight the moment they met.
If she hadn’t arrived in time, Yinuo might have killed Feiye on the spot.
That thought alone had nearly terrified Lirna.
A Ming only had a handful of followers. She usually watched over them obsessively. If something happened to them here, Lirna wouldn’t be able to bear the wrath of the God of Light.
“Yes. So while the two of you were unconscious, she came and beat me up. She only let me out of the divine domain after you woke up.”
“She came? And beat you up?”
“That’s right.” Lirna nodded without hesitation, even unconsciously rubbing her backside, as if it had suffered quite a blow.
“Then why didn’t she heal Feiye’s injuries?”
“Well… you’ll understand later.” Lirna deliberately kept it vague, refusing to explain.
Just as she was about to continue, the two of them reached the end of the corridor.
A massive stone door stood before them, carved with intricate, ancient patterns that radiated a faint pressure.
Lirna placed both hands against the cold surface, then turned back to look at Pereti, her expression becoming more serious.
“A reminder, Miss Pereti. The Leader is not a being of this world. She’s an otherworlder I brought back from the void. The way she speaks is often strange—she says things people can’t understand. When you meet her, please be patient.”
“Someone from another world?”
Faced with Pereti’s question, Lirna simply replied, “Yes,” without further explanation, and pushed the door open.
The space inside was vast, far brighter than the corridor. In the center stood a long table, covered with dishes—mostly fruits and vegetables, many of which Pereti didn’t recognize.
“Big Sister Lirna!”
A small figure suddenly popped out from somewhere. Wenika rushed forward and threw herself into Lirna’s arms.
“See? Wenika is super amazing! I beat down so many people all by myself!”
“Yes, Wenika is the best.” Lirna gently stroked her head, her voice soft and warm.
Pereti was a little surprised.
Just moments ago, she had been punished by Liuming because of Wenika’s recklessness. And yet now, Lirna could still smile at her like this.
It seemed she truly liked this child.
But what about Liuming?
Both were gods, and according to Lirna, Liuming should care even more about her followers. So why hadn’t Pereti seen her even once until now? Why had she allowed Feiye to remain seriously injured without intervening?
Or… did she have some kind of unspeakable secret with Qingcheng?
After clinging to Lirna for a while, Wenika turned and ran toward the woman seated across the table. She jumped into her arms, then stood up and started punching the air rapidly, like a completely innocent child.
“Sister Yinuo, look! Wenika came back safely—and I defeated all the bad guys!”
Yinuo comforted Wenika, but her gaze remained fixed on Pereti.
“May all be well-fed. Welcome, Miss Witch. You’ve worked hard taking care of Wenika. She’s still just a child—her personality is a bit lively.”
“Lively?” Pereti couldn’t help recalling their battle—the way Wenika laughed wildly even while gravely injured. Could that really be called lively?
“Yes. When I found her, she was all alone. I figured I always cook too much anyway—one more mouth would help finish the food. So today, I prepared a meal. Please, have a taste. It might be a bit light, so I hope you don’t mind.”
