Join the Server“So beautiful…”
Pereti stood between heaven and earth. The wind carried the scent of grass as it brushed past her clothes, and it felt as though her fingertips could touch the drifting clouds.
She spread her arms, letting the fierce wind sweep across her face. Her hair fluttered wildly, and an uncontrollable excitement curved at the corners of her lips. Endless green reflected in her eyes—as if everything lay within reach.
“Where is this place?!”
She shouted aloud, her voice riding the wind before dissolving into the horizon.
“I’ve never heard that within the Empire… there exists such a vast and beautiful plain!”
“You should know its original name—Male Gobi.”
Yinuo’s voice drifted over like a passing cloud, calm and unhurried, coming from behind her.
“Now, I call it the Usola Plain.”
She paused, her gaze sweeping across the thriving land. Back when she decided to attack the Empire, a large part of the reason had been this very desert.
In Yinuo’s understanding, in any large-scale war, plains always held the highest strategic value. Especially for her plans, securing a vast, cultivable region was essential.
She had studied maps of many countries, but none satisfied her. Either they lacked water, or their plains were too small—until she found Male Gobi. In every aspect, it perfectly matched her expectations.
The Gluttony Church had been established here—and even now, it remained its core territory.
“You’re saying this is Male Gobi?!”
Pereti’s eyes widened in disbelief. She stepped forward, examining the land carefully.
Everywhere she looked, there was lush greenery.
There wasn’t a trace of a desert.
“Hard to believe? It should be. Based on what you know, it’s impossible.”
“All of this… you did this? How did you do it? Turning such a vast desert into this?”
Yinuo smiled faintly and casually pointed toward the towering snow-capped mountains in the distance.
“A great river originates from that mountain, not far from here. So I diverted it here—providing abundant water along the way, allowing grass to grow for livestock. Over the next thirteen years, this desert was turned into a plain.”
“The first six years were spent restoring life to the land. Then another seven years reclaiming and cultivating it with my people. That’s how this farmland came to be.”
“Magic is truly convenient. Without it, who knows how many lifetimes this would have taken.”
“Incredible… You actually accomplished something like this. This is nothing short of a miracle!”
Pereti stared at the land beneath her feet, scooping up a handful of dark soil.
She was certain of one thing—
In all of human history, no nation had ever possessed farmland on this scale. Not to mention such fertile soil and abundant water.
This was something that should only exist in paradise.
Just how much food could such vast farmland produce?
Pereti didn’t even dare to imagine.
But one thing was certain—
Feeding an entire nation would be effortless.
Combined with the pastures behind them, the Gluttony Church’s resources likely already surpassed most nations.
No wonder so many commoners chose to join them.
“A miracle? I’m just a mortal.”
“Even as a mortal… you’re a legend unlike any before or after.”
Pereti’s expression was serious. In her heart, she felt deep admiration for Yinuo.
“A legend? No… not yet.”
“Miss Pereti, you’ve already seen how rotten humanity has become.”
“‘May all be fed’—that’s not an empty slogan. It is the destiny of Gluttony to accomplish it. To unify all human nations, abolish slavery, and give everyone a peaceful life.”
“A peaceful life…”
Pereti was a little stunned.
She hadn’t expected Yinuo to have made the exact same choice as Qingcheng—
To unify the human nations.
Qingcheng…
What had she experienced back then to make such a decision?
If it was fate…
Then she would prove it wrong herself.
There was no such thing as destiny.
“With just those words, wanting to defeat the Empire—and even other nations—is nothing but a fool’s dream.”
“Then how did you do it?”
Pereti pressed eagerly. Her curiosity toward the Gluttony Church could no longer be contained.
She had once thought they were merely a rebel force fighting for the common people.
But now…
They were beginning to resemble a nation.
Yinuo looked at her and smiled mysteriously.
“That’s something you’ll have to discover for yourself, Miss Pereti. Feiye is still unconscious. Since you have time, why not go out and take a look—see what this world is truly like?”
“The real world…”
Pereti turned her head, once again examining the world before her.
In the past, she had always lived in the Empire’s prosperous regions. Her understanding of the outside world came mostly from books and newspapers.
But all that information had been filtered by nobles and the Church before reaching the public.
What people saw… was only what they were allowed to see.
It had little to do with reality.
Suddenly, Pereti wanted to see it—
The real world Yinuo spoke of.
The truth deliberately hidden by the Church and the nobility.
She wanted to know—
What kind of world Qingcheng had seen.
“What?! You’re leaving?!”
Xiao Lv stared at the suddenly returned Pereti, shouting in disbelief.
“Yes. I’ll leave Feiye in your care for now.”
Pereti nodded, efficiently packing up the items on the bedside table.
“Stop!”
Xiao Lv shouted angrily, stepping forward and grabbing Pereti by the collar.
“Pereti, are you even human?! Because of your concealment, Feiye ended up like this—and now, when she’s gravely injured, unconscious, when she needs you the most—you want to leave?!”
“If you feel even the slightest bit of guilt, you should stay here and watch—watch how this girl, whose entire world revolves around you, lies here unconscious because of you!!”
Sitting by the bed, looking at the quiet girl lying there, Pereti felt a pang of guilt.
She knew very well how much her decision would hurt Feiye.
The thing Feiye feared most—
Was being abandoned by her.
Pereti didn’t dare imagine what would happen when Feiye woke up and heard, in a cold voice:
“Pereti left you behind.”
She already owed her too much.
She couldn’t just abandon her.
And yet—
She also wanted to know what Qingcheng had gone through.
What kind of experiences could lead someone to want to destroy the world?
The burden on her shoulders was too heavy—
So heavy she could barely breathe.
Sometimes, choices were painful.
Choosing one meant abandoning the other.
Her hand unconsciously moved, gently stroking the girl’s cold forehead.
As if sensing something, Feiye’s body suddenly trembled. Her small hands tightly grasped that familiar hand—even in unconsciousness, her body continued to shiver.
“Don’t… don’t…”
“Don’t leave… Feiye…”
Hearing her trembling murmur, both people in the room fell silent.
Xiao Lv’s body shook violently. She raised her hand, wanting to strike Pereti—
But in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Instead, she struck heavily against Pereti’s shoulder—
Then turned and left without looking back.
