Chapter 15: An Unexpected Rescue in the Dungeon

Lucia stared, transfixed, at the brown-haired girl suspended before her.

Though blindfolded, the girl heard the creak of the opening door. She immediately began to whimper, desperately calling for help.

“Oh, don’t be afraid,” Lucia quickly reassured her, snapping back to reality as she approached the girl. “I’m here to save you.”

Only then did Lucia realize the girl was barely clothed. Everything that should have been covered, and everything that shouldn’t, was exposed.

A flush spread across Lucia’s cheeks; she hesitated, unsure how to proceed. Her gaze drifted, catching sight of the girl’s swollen, whip-marked buttocks. ‘Damn these perpetrators and their kin,’ she cursed silently.

Hearing Lucia’s unfamiliar voice, the girl had stopped her whimpering, now pondering the identity of the stranger before her.

Just then, Lucia’s hand reached for the girl’s head, clumsily unfastening the blindfold.

The blindfold dropped to the floor. The girl squinted for a moment, adjusting to the light, finally discerning Lucia’s appearance.

Lucia still wore her veil, revealing only a pair of starry eyes, symbolic of an angel.

“Mmf-mmpf?!” The brown-haired girl instinctively let out a muffled whimper. She was trying to say ‘angel’, but the mouth-gag she bit down on made her words indistinct.

Lucia’s eyes were too renowned; anyone could recognize her angelic identity. The girl’s astonishment at the angel’s appearance was evident in her sharply arched eyebrows.

“Don’t be afraid, I’ll have you down in no time.” Noticing the girl’s attempt to speak, Lucia found the strap of the mouth-gag and removed the porous ball from her mouth.

*Plink.*

The porous ball clattered to the floor.

With her ability to speak restored, the girl initially had many questions. However, after her earlier contemplation, and seeing Lucia now busy untying her, she remained silent.

As Lucia worked to free her, her fingers inevitably brushed against the girl’s skin. Lucia didn’t know if the girl felt shy, but she herself felt utterly awkward, needing to say something to alleviate the tension.

“Uh, so, you were also captured by the nobles here, right?” Lucia asked an obvious question.

The brown-haired girl looked at Lucia with surprise. Realizing Lucia mistook her for a victim, a faint smile played on her lips.

She was no innocent woman persecuted by nobles. She was one of the mistresses of this estate, Duke Yass’s second daughter, the Second Princess of the Yass family, Her Royal Highness Crowlina Yass.

As for why she was suspended in a secret room with whip marks on her bottom, it was merely one of the ‘games’ she and her sister enjoyed. It was content too risqué to be written, thus inconvenient to disclose.

Receiving no response from the girl, Lucia assumed she was traumatized and mentally distressed, and offered further soothing words.

Moments later, Lucia finally unraveled the complex knots, ‘rescuing’ the Second Princess of the Yass family.

Lucia removed her own outer garment and offered it to the Second Princess to cover herself.

“My name is Lucia. What’s yours?”

Crowlina Yass knew Lucia had misunderstood her identity, believing her to be a commoner abducted by nobles. She decided to play along, shyly replying, “I’m Lina, the daughter of a wealthy merchant in the city.”

“I was invited to a noble’s ball last night and woke up here. I don’t know anything, I, I’m so scared, *sobs*…”

She claimed to be a wealthy merchant’s daughter because she was confident in her appearance, believing her smooth, fair skin could not possibly belong to a commoner. She prided herself on noticing such details to craft a perfect lie.

However, Lucia, accustomed to the fair-skinned, beautiful, long-legged commoners of the 21st century, completely missed Crowlina’s subtle deception. She simply offered comfort:

“Mhm, don’t worry, we will definitely escape.”

“Alright, thank you, little sister. Though you are younger than me, you are far braver. Truly admirable.”

Crowlina lowered her gaze, feigning ignorance of the angel’s identity, speaking one thing while thinking another. She was aware of the Yass family’s plan to abduct the angel. If the plan had unfolded as intended, her elder sister, Her Royal Highness Princess Delia Yass, would have already returned to the mansion when the angel was brought in.

Why wasn’t her sister here now? And why was the angel freely present in the secret room?

Crowlina and Delia often engaged in such ‘games’ together, indicating a strong sisterly bond. Thus, Crowlina was genuinely worried for her sister.

Concerned for Delia’s safety, she used the pretext of rescuing other abducted commoners to lead Lucia through the entire basement, hoping to discover what had transpired since she had been suspended.

Most of the six rooms in the basement were empty. Only one contained a dead body.

It was Delia’s trusted subordinate, the primary force sent to abduct the angel.

Crowlina cast a sidelong glance at Lucia…

From the outcome, Lucia had indeed been brought to their mansion, so the abduction plan should have succeeded. Perhaps there was just a slip-up in the details.
