Join the ServerLucia, holding a woman who looked like a refugee, came to the door of a house. A girl with a freckled face, wearing coarse cloth, was standing outside. She had been hanging out vegetables to dry.
The girl had seen noble carriages before, but they usually passed through without stopping. Today, however, a carriage stopped for a woman who had dared to block its path. The girl was surprised, expecting the woman to be run over or beaten.
Instead, the carriage driver avoided her, and a girl dismounted, carrying the woman towards the house. The girl was dressed like a knight, and the freckled girl remembered stories of knights harming commoners. She looked down, afraid to meet the knight’s gaze.
Lucia, carrying the injured woman, entered the house. The freckled girl followed, terrified. Lucia ordered her to bring a basin of water and a towel. Despite her usual shyness, Lucia’s confidence was boosted by ‘ginseng liquor,’ which made her more assertive.
Lucia washed the woman’s injured leg and face, revealing a young, beautiful face. The woman, now conscious, tried to speak but was too weak. Lucia comforted her, promising she was safe. She asked for the woman’s name and family, but the woman could only manage a weak gesture. Lucia promised to help and asked for her name and family.
