Chapter 52: Time to Play the Villain

Bai Yun’s sudden question gave Bai Muxue a strong sense of déjà vu.

Had something like this happened before?

Bai Muxue thought back and remembered that two nights ago, Bai Yun had brought up a similar topic.

The university Bai Muxue attended was Changfeng Polytechnic University, which ranked fairly high among the universities in Changfeng City.

She hadn’t gotten in purely on her own merit. A little luck had helped as well.

If Bai Muxue hadn’t been chosen by Bai Ye to become a witch, her life probably would have been a boring routine of graduating, finding a job, and killing time until the end.

But now, things were a bit different.

Now Bai Muxue felt that going to school was completely unnecessary, and if she could, she would even drop out.

Going to school was wasting time she could spend collecting emotional energy.

She just didn’t dare say that to Bai Yun.

Bai Muxue pretended to look down in thought, and after a moment, gave Bai Yun an answer.

“Mm… let’s talk about it in a few days. I’m not mentally prepared yet.”

“That’s true. This kind of thing can’t be prepared for in just a couple of days. I was a bit too hasty.” Bai Yun nodded, granting Bai Muxue’s request.

She thought that if Bai Muxue stayed away from school too long, she might fall behind in her classes, so she couldn’t help but remind her again.

A few minutes passed.

“I’m full.” Bai Muxue set down her bowl and chopsticks.

Bai Yun noticed that there was still half a bowl of rice in Bai Muxue’s bowl.

“Is the food not to your liking?” In Bai Yun’s memory, Bai Muxue never ate this little.

“Maybe it’s because I became a girl, so my appetite shrank a lot.” Bai Muxue answered casually.

The real reason was that Bai Muxue didn’t need to eat. For her, it made no difference how much she ate.

Bai Yun thought Bai Muxue’s explanation sounded reasonable.

“I’m heading back to my room to get some sleep.” Bai Muxue stood up.

“Go ahead.” Bai Yun said.

With Bai Yun’s permission, Bai Muxue returned to her room.

Bai Ye emerged from inside Bai Muxue’s body, sat down in the chair, opened the drawer, and took out the piggy bank where Bai Muxue hid the beads.

“Where’s the key?” Bai Ye asked.

“What do you need the key for…” Bai Muxue walked over.

“To take out the beads, of course. We’re about to go collect emotional energy. We need to use every bit of power we can.”

“Oh.” Bai Muxue crouched down, took the key from the bottom drawer, and handed it to Bai Ye.

Bai Ye opened the piggy bank, took out the bead that held a portion of Blood Rose’s magic, and played with it in her hand.

“I just thought of something.” Bai Muxue said suddenly, looking at the bead in Bai Ye’s hand.

“What?”

“Do you think there are other witches or magical girls who collect other people’s magic after a fight?”

This thought had occurred to Bai Muxue.

“Probably not. The technique for gathering stray magic is hard to master. Not every magical girl and witch can do it.” Bai Ye answered.

“When are we leaving?”

“Let me take a nap first.” Bai Muxue had already climbed onto the bed.

“You don’t need to sleep, do you?” Bai Ye glanced at Bai Muxue.

Witches shouldn’t need rest.

“…Wits and wits against magical girls takes a lot of energy. Though it’s not like we run into magical girls every time.”

Bai Muxue sat on the bed and tried to unbutton her clothes, but before she did, she suddenly remembered something.

“Turn around first.” Bai Muxue said to Bai Ye.

“It’s not like I’d lose a piece of flesh by looking.” Bai Ye leaned back in the chair, staring at Bai Muxue.

“We’re both girls. What’s wrong with me looking? Or is there something I’m not allowed to see?”

“…” Bai Muxue frowned.

Bai Muxue knew that if Bai Ye saw the shirt with the little cat pattern on it, Bai Ye would definitely laugh.

“Just turn around!” Bai Muxue raised her fist.

“Fine, fine. I’ll turn around.” Bai Ye turned her back.

Bai Muxue let out a sigh of relief.

“Oh, by the way, Bai Yun has good taste in clothes. Cute style suits you well.” Bai Ye said after turning around.

Bai Muxue was confused at first, but she quickly realized what Bai Ye was talking about and felt embarrassed.

“Anyway, I’m going to sleep now.” Bai Muxue chose to dive straight under the covers so Bai Ye couldn’t see her current state.

“Good afternoon, then.”

After a short nap, Bai Muxue threw off the covers.

It was called a nap, but she hadn’t actually slept long, only about half an hour.

“Did you sleep well?” Bai Ye asked.

It was a perfectly normal greeting, but in Bai Muxue’s eyes, something about it was off.

Because Bai Ye was lying on the bed when she said this to Bai Muxue.

“When… when did you get up here?” Bai Muxue frowned.

“Just now.” Bai Ye replied.

“Really?”

“Really.”

“I don’t believe you.” Bai Muxue didn’t think Bai Ye had just gotten onto the bed.

“Then why bother asking if you don’t believe me.” Bai Ye got off the bed, straightened her clothes, and used magic to fix Bai Muxue’s hair.

“Time to go out and play the villain.” Bai Muxue got up, got dressed, and took a sun hat from the wardrobe.

The sun hat could cover the cat ears on her head, at least preventing ordinary people from immediately recognizing her as a witch.

“Bai Ye, can you use magic to reinforce this hat?” Bai Muxue asked.

“Sure, but why do you ask?” Bai Ye was curious.

“Because last time, the clothes and hat I used to disguise myself were all shredded by Lan… I don’t want to have to replace the hat every time I go out.”

A witch’s spirit outfit could be restored with magic, but the clothes and hat Bai Muxue used to disguise herself last time weren’t part of her spirit outfit. Once ruined, they were ruined.

Luckily, Bai Yun had plenty of clothes, so she hadn’t noticed anything was missing after one outfit disappeared. Otherwise, Bai Muxue would have had to make up an excuse to get by.

Bai Muxue gently pushed open the door and looked outside.

Then she locked eyes with Bai Yun, who was watching TV.

“Muxue, is something wrong?” Bai Yun looked at Bai Muxue with some confusion.

In broad daylight, why was she acting like a thief?

Anyone would think Bai Muxue was going out to do something bad.

“Um…” Bai Muxue hadn’t expected Bai Yun to still be awake.

‘Doesn’t she take a nap?’

This was the first time Bai Muxue had learned that.

“Well, a friend asked me to go out and play. I couldn’t refuse, so I agreed.”

“I see.” Bai Yun didn’t suspect Bai Muxue’s answer.

As Bai Muxue came out of the room, Bai Yun noticed the sun hat in her hand.

“What are you bringing a sun hat for when going out to play?”

“Actually… it’s to block out the sun.”

Bai Muxue hadn’t expected Bai Yun to ask that. She stood there for a moment before making up an excuse.

“I see. Have fun, and don’t come back too late, okay?”

“Okay” Bai Muxue grabbed the keys and quickly left.
