Join the Server“So where exactly are we going?” Bai Muxue couldn’t stop herself from asking.
She had been following Bai Ye for over ten minutes, and they still hadn’t reached the place Bai Ye had mentioned.
“Hold on… this is my first time using this navigation app. I’m not really familiar with it,” Bai Ye said, fiddling with her phone as she walked.
“Why not just ask me where you’re going? I’m a local in Changfeng City,” Bai Muxue said.
Bai Ye suddenly realized what Bai Muxue had said.
Right. Why not just ask Bai Muxue? Why bother with the navigation?
“So, how do I get to Hanhai Park?” Bai Ye asked.
“Hanhai Park? Hanhai Park? Why are you going there?” Bai Muxue asked, puzzled.
“Never mind that. Just tell me where it is,” Bai Ye said.
“I’ll just take you there directly…” Bai Muxue waved her hand.
After nearly another half hour of walking, they finally arrived at Hanhai Park.
Hanhai Park was one of the largest water parks in Changfeng City, covering a huge area.
On weekends, it would usually be packed with people. Unfortunately, since it was a workday, there weren’t many visitors.
“Now that we’re here, can you at least tell me what you’re planning to do?” Bai Muxue asked again.
“Fine, fine. I’ll tell you,” Bai Ye said. “Have you noticed that you always end up at a disadvantage when fighting magical girls?”
“You don’t have to tell me that… And it’s not just a slight disadvantage. I almost got ground into the dirt by the enemy,” Bai Muxue replied.
The first time Bai Muxue fought Ye Li, she wasn’t a match for Ye Li at all. She was subdued after just a few exchanges.
Without Bai Ye’s help, Bai Muxue really would have met her end before achieving anything.
As for the second battle between Bai Muxue and Ye Li… all that could be said was she had a chance to win, but in the end, she still lost.
“Isn’t it because my magical power isn’t strong enough? If I had magic at the Huiyue level, I could deal with even ten Ye Lis at once with one hand,” Bai Muxue said.
“Magical power is certainly important, but combat experience and technique matter just as much. Ye Li has some combat experience, while you’re starting from zero. In that regard alone, you’re already behind her.”
“In the last fight, you should have been able to tell. You had my weapon, and your strength was even slightly stronger than hers, but you still narrowly lost. That’s why.”
“So?” Bai Muxue had a feeling something bad was about to happen.
“So, from now on, I’ll also be your combat advisor and hone your battle skills,” Bai Ye said.
“Huh?!” Bai Muxue took two steps back. “Are you serious? I already have to study science and stuff for school, and now I have to learn how to fight?”
“Is this the surprise you had for me? I’m not sure about the ‘happy’ part, but I’m definitely surprised.”
“Isn’t that still a surprise?” Bai Ye replied casually.
“Alright, let’s start.”
“Can I refuse?” Bai Muxue raised her hand.
“Sure. I won’t force you,” Bai Ye nodded.
“Then…”
“Don’t rush. Let me finish.” Bai Ye smiled. “If you’re okay with being dragged to the association to do this and that after being defeated by a magical girl…”
“I’ll learn!” Bai Muxue’s body shuddered, and she quickly changed her answer.
“That was fast. I thought you’d hesitate at least a little.”
“This has to do with my freedom. How could I hesitate?” Bai Muxue said. “So, coach, what do we do next?”
“This… let me think.” Bai Ye pondered.
“You’re different from other magical girls and witches. Every magical girl or witch has their own exclusive magic and weapon.”
“For example, after Ye Li transforms, her magic is light magic and her weapon is a thin sword. My magic is emotion and darkness, and my weapon is a scythe.”
“But as a witch, you don’t have your own exclusive magic or weapon. You can only use mine… probably because your magic hasn’t awakened yet.”
“Let’s just make something to use for now.” Bai Ye cut two branches off a nearby tree, roughly whittled them into two wooden swords, and tossed one to Bai Muxue.
“Are you sure this isn’t damaging public property?” Bai Muxue said, holding the wooden sword.
“It doesn’t count if no one sees it,” Bai Ye replied.
“…You have a thick skin.” Bai Muxue paused, then commented.
“I’ll use the same level of magic and strength as you. Here comes an attack!”
With that warning, Bai Ye rushed forward and thrust her sword.
Bai Muxue raised her sword to block, and then…
The sword in her hand snapped.
“Is this something you bought from a bargain shopping app?!” Bai Muxue complained.
“I forgot to tell you: you can use magic to reinforce the weapon in your hand,” Bai Ye said.
“How unreliable can you be… So what now?”
“Just make another one,” Bai Ye said.
So the nearby tree got unlucky again, and Bai Muxue obtained a new wooden sword.
Bai Muxue could even picture the next day’s news headline:
“Shocking: A tree in Hanhai Park has been hollowed out. Is this the distortion of human nature, or the collapse of morality?”
“What are you thinking about? Get ready,” Bai Ye said.
“Oh, right.” Bai Muxue held the sword with both hands and stared hard at Bai Ye.
“Ready!”
As soon as she said that, Bai Ye reached Bai Muxue and swung her sword.
Bai Muxue raised her sword to block.
This time, she used her magic to strengthen the wooden sword in her hand. It didn’t break like before, but Bai Muxue was knocked back several steps.
Bai Ye pressed the advantage, swinging another sword strike.
Bai Muxue chose not to block, but dodged instead.
“Choosing to dodge?” Bai Ye picked up the speed of her sword strikes.
Bai Muxue found dodging increasingly difficult. Finally, during one dodge, she slipped and was about to fall.
She couldn’t do anything, so she just closed her eyes, hoping the fall wouldn’t hurt too much.
At the critical moment, Bai Ye grabbed Bai Muxue’s hand and pulled her up.
“Eh?” Bai Muxue found that she didn’t hurt at all. She opened her eyes and saw that Bai Ye had already pulled her up.
Bai Ye was still holding Bai Muxue’s wrist. Maybe because Bai Ye used a bit too much force, Bai Muxue’s wrist had red marks from the grip.
“Th, thank you…” Bai Muxue came back to her senses. “If it weren’t for you, I would have fallen just now.”
“I only pulled you up because if you fell down and needed rest, it would waste time,” Bai Ye said.
“Mhm mhm.” Bai Muxue nodded.
“So… can you let go of my hand first? We’ve been in this position for quite a while!”
“Ah?” Only after Bai Muxue’s reminder did Bai Ye notice, and she quickly let go.
“Since nothing’s wrong, let’s continue,” Bai Ye said.
“Okay!” Bai Muxue raised her wooden sword.
