Join the ServerInside the fitting room, Bai Muxue held the dress Bai Ye had picked out, hesitating.
This wasn’t her first time wearing women’s clothing. In fact, whether it was right after her transformation or after she’d become a witch, she’d always worn skirts.
But then again, this was the first time she was voluntarily changing into women’s clothes.
“Should I really put it on…?” Bai Muxue muttered.
She had a vague sense that once she put on this dress, she’d be walking down a path of no return.
“Tch, screw it. I’ve fought magical girls before. What’s one little dress?!” Bai Muxue steeled herself and began taking off her own clothes.
Now Bai Muxue was completely bare.
“Gulp…” Bai Muxue looked at her naked reflection in the mirror and swallowed hard.
This really was a first.
Bai Muxue never expected that the first girl she’d ever be naked in front of was herself!
The person in the mirror was nearly perfect. If anything, the only imperfection was… that it was a bit small.
‘Wait, why am I suddenly worried about size?’ The thought made a chill run down Bai Muxue’s spine.
“Hey, are you done yet?” Bai Ye’s voice came from outside the door.
“J-just a sec!” Bai Muxue called back, though she didn’t know if Bai Ye heard her.
She’d even forgotten that she could communicate with Bai Ye through telepathy.
“I’ve come this far…” Bai Muxue picked up the dress she’d set aside, closed her eyes, and quickly put it on.
“Knock, knock, knock.” Someone knocked on the door.
‘Surely she didn’t pass out from changing clothes?’ Bai Ye, standing outside, considered another possibility.
Judging by some of the manga she’d scrolled through in the few hours since getting her phone, Bai Ye thought it wasn’t out of the question.
If that really happened, Bai Ye figured she could mock Bai Muxue for a whole year. The joke would be that changing clothes was too exciting for her and she fainted.
“Are you done?” Bai Ye called again when there was no response to her earlier knock.
But Bai Muxue was still lost in the shame of voluntarily wearing women’s clothing. She hadn’t even opened her eyes, let alone noticed Bai Ye’s calls from outside.
“If you don’t answer, I’m coming in.” Bai Ye pushed the door open, but didn’t find Bai Muxue passed out on the floor as she’d pictured.
Bai Muxue stood there in the white dress, her original clothes piled to the side.
She was facing away from Bai Ye, but Bai Ye could still see her expression in the mirror.
A hint of shyness.
Bai Muxue’s eyes were still closed. She hadn’t noticed Bai Ye come in.
Her hand rested on her thigh beneath the skirt, and she gave it a light touch.
The feel of fabric against her skin, and the emptiness beneath the skirt, both reminded Bai Muxue that she’d taken another step down a certain path.
And whether it was her imagination or not, neither the clothes she’d worn right after transforming nor the spirit outfit she’d worn as a witch had ever given her this feeling.
“Those clothes were all condensed from my magic, so they might really feel a bit different.” Bai Ye said.
“?!” Bai Muxue finally noticed the open fitting room door and Bai Ye standing right beside her.
“Don’t tell me you can read minds?”
“I don’t need to. One look at your face and I know what you’re thinking.” Bai Ye replied.
“Seriously?” Bai Muxue said. “Like I’d believe that.”
“Fine, that was actually a lie.” Bai Ye admitted freely. “When you were talking to yourself in your head just now, you forgot to block me from your thoughts. I accidentally heard what you were thinking.”
“Huh?!” Bai Muxue couldn’t help backing away a few steps. “Y-you… what else did you hear?!”
“Just that one thing. Nothing else.” Bai Ye said with an innocent look.
“Fine.” Bai Muxue reluctantly accepted that.
“Hey, don’t you think we look pretty good together?”
Bai Ye looked at herself and Bai Muxue in the mirror. One in a black evening gown, the other in a white dress. The thought popped into her head out of nowhere.
“?” Bai Muxue’s brain short-circuited for a second at Bai Ye’s words. Then she snapped back and kicked at Bai Ye.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Someone’s riled up.” With Bai Muxue’s level of strength, landing a hit on Bai Ye was impossible. Bai Ye sidestepped the attack with ease.
Just as Bai Ye said, Bai Muxue was indeed a bit riled up now.
But she also knew there was nothing she could do to Bai Ye.
Suddenly, Bai Muxue had a flash of inspiration.
“Hmph…” Bai Muxue crossed her arms and turned her back to Bai Ye, looking genuinely a little angry.
“Sorry, sorry. I’ll watch what I say next time, okay?” Bai Ye raised both hands in surrender on the spot.
She had no experience with placating girls.
“You think one ‘sorry’ is enough?” Bai Muxue’s voice came, but she seemed to be holding something back. Her tone sounded a little strange.
Bai Ye didn’t catch it.
“If I could, I’d give you something else. But in my current state, unless I go haul bricks at a construction site to earn some money, there’s nothing else I can do.” Bai Ye said.
She was a complete undocumented person in this world. She couldn’t even ride a bus.
To ride a bus, you needed an ID to buy a ticket.
“Pfft.”
Bai Ye suddenly heard a laugh. From the sound of it, it was very much Bai Muxue’s.
“Hm?” Bai Ye frowned. Something wasn’t right.
She crept up beside Bai Muxue without making a sound. She wasn’t noticed.
And that was when Bai Ye saw Bai Muxue’s expression as she giggled to herself.
Bai Muxue was still gloating about finally getting one over on Bai Ye.
When she snapped back to reality, she noticed the surroundings seemed to have grown darker.
She turned to see what was going on and came face to face with Bai Ye’s fake smile.
“How about… you hear me out?” Bai Muxue held up both hands in a gesture of surrender.
“Sure. Let’s hear your explanation.” Bai Ye said.
“I…”
Before Bai Muxue could think of an excuse, Bai Ye had already pounced.
But Bai Muxue had been attacked by Bai Ye once before. She had experience now, so she instinctively dodged.
“Weren’t you going to listen to my explanation?!” Bai Muxue put distance between them and stared at Bai Ye, trembling.
“No, no, no. I don’t want an explanation anymore. I just want to play a fun little game with you.” An extremely terrifying smile spread across Bai Ye’s face.
Bai Ye never expected that Bai Muxue, of all people, would trick her.
“Don’t come near me!”
Bai Muxue tried to escape the fitting room, but found the door already shut. Bai Ye was blocking the way.
“Weren’t you laughing happily just now? Why aren’t you laughing anymore?”
“Hehe… can we call a truce?” Bai Muxue tried to negotiate.
“Too late!” Bai Ye refused flatly.
