Chapter 15: Unexpected Encounter

Bai Muxue hadn’t expected to run into Ye Li here again… or rather, Lan.

She felt her luck today was pretty bad. She hadn’t started gathering much emotional power yet, and she’d already run into a magical girl.

The worst part was that this magical girl was her friend. Sure, only a friend on the surface, but Bai Muxue still didn’t want to hurt her.

“Is the association down to just her as a magical girl? How do we keep running into her?” Bai Ye frowned. She hadn’t expected to meet Ye Li here either.

Bai Ye had expected to face some magical girl interference, but not that it would be a former defeated opponent.

On the other side, Ye Li also thought today was quite a coincidence.

She had just meant to buy a jianbing for breakfast when she sensed a witch’s aura here.

And walking over to check, she found the witch was an “old acquaintance.”

“Go! Show her what you’re made of!” Bai Ye urged.

“Didn’t you say last time that I couldn’t beat her without your help?” Bai Muxue asked.

“…Did I say that? Fine, I did say that. But you’re more used to your witch body and power now. Maybe you can beat her this time?”

“You don’t sound very convincing.” Bai Muxue rolled her eyes so hard they almost flipped into the back of her head.

Ye Li quickly transformed into Lan, a magical girl with flowing golden hair.

“Pervert witch! Last time I lost because I let my guard down. I won’t lose this time. Take this!”

Lan thrust her thin sword toward Bai Muxue.

Bai Muxue’s strength had improved a lot, so she could dodge Lan’s attacks with relative ease.

But dodging wasn’t a real solution. It only delayed the inevitable. Bai Muxue would still lose to Lan eventually.

The problem was that Bai Muxue had no weapon in hand.

“I don’t even have a weapon right now. How do you expect me to fight?!” Bai Muxue dodged Lan’s attacks while talking to Bai Ye.

“Don’t get distracted in battle,” Bai Ye said.

“Opening!” Lan seized the moment Bai Muxue was distracted and swung her sword.

“Whoa!” But Bai Muxue was a step faster and barely dodged. “That almost hit me.”

“Not having a weapon is a problem… You don’t have magic of your own, which is a rare case among witches,” Bai Ye said.

“But you can use my powers, so logically, you should be able to use my weapon too.”

“I’m not sure if you can summon it, but you’ll never know unless you try. Otherwise, you’re going to get beaten sooner or later.”

Bai Ye didn’t seem to intend to step in this time. Unless Bai Muxue was really about to be defeated and captured, she wouldn’t act.

“So, how, do I, summon your weapon?!” Bai Muxue dodged Lan’s next attack and grabbed a random stick from the ground, probably a mop handle or something.

Then the mop handle got cut in two by Lan.

“How could something like that block a magical girl’s attack…” Bai Ye pinched her forehead. “Focus. Imagine something appearing in your hand. I usually summon my weapon that way.”

Bai Muxue did as Bai Ye told her.

Maybe because Bai Muxue truly had exceptional talent, or because a crisis could bring out her potential, she succeeded in summoning Bai Ye’s weapon on her first try.

It was a pitch-black scythe. The black mana coiling around it made Bai Muxue instinctively uncomfortable.

Lan stared cautiously at the scythe in Bai Muxue’s hand and didn’t advance further.

“You really can summon my weapon?” Bai Ye was a bit surprised. “If so, maybe you can really beat her.”

“This weapon of mine is pretty impressive.”

“How impressive exactly?” Bai Muxue asked.

“You’ll find out if you try,” Bai Ye said, not giving a direct answer.

Bai Muxue stayed put and gave the scythe a light swing. A jet-black blade of energy raced toward Lan.

“Holy light, illuminate my path!” The rapier in Lan’s hand gleamed with golden light. She took two steps forward and swung.

The golden light clashed with the dark energy. Lan was knocked back two steps by Bai Muxue’s strike.

One could say this exchange slightly favored Bai Muxue.

“Such a powerful weapon!” Bai Muxue couldn’t help but marvel.

Bai Muxue vaguely sensed that the weapon held tremendous strength. With just a tiny bit of effort, she could push Lan back.

“It’s my weapon, after all. It’s normal for it to be strong.” Bai Ye crossed her arms.

“Then here I come!” Bai Muxue lunged forward, raised the scythe high, and brought it down on Lan.

“Who announces their attack during a fight?!” Lan raised her rapier and blocked the scythe.

Then she stepped right in front of Bai Muxue and threw a punch.

Though Bai Muxue had gained greater power, this was her first real battle. Lan had killed several beasts. The gap in combat experience was enormous.

Facing Lan’s sudden attack, Bai Muxue had no time to dodge.

“Ugh!” The punch caught Bai Muxue squarely in the stomach.

Lan had pulled the punch, but it still hit Bai Muxue’s weak spot. It hurt all the same.

“Ah…” Sharp pain surged through her. Bai Muxue couldn’t keep her grip on the scythe. She let go instinctively, and the scythe fell to the ground.

“You gave me a real beating last time. Consider this payback.” Lan said to Bai Muxue.

Lan grabbed Bai Muxue’s arms, pinned them behind her back, and molded her holy-light magic into ropes, tying Bai Muxue’s arms tightly.

“I didn’t pay attention during the fight, but now I see it. You look pretty good when you’re captured.” Lan stared at Bai Muxue with interest, sizing her up.

“Especially those cat ears and that cat tail that won’t stop wagging… Speaking of which, you pushed me against the wall last time, didn’t you? Then I’ll collect a little ‘interest'”

Lan smiled as her hand slowly moved toward Bai Muxue.

“Y-You, what are you going to do?!” Bai Muxue knew something bad was coming. She tried to use her magic to break through Lan’s bindings, but without the scythe, her own magic wasn’t enough to struggle free.

‘This is it. She was really going to lose this time.’

Lan placed her hand directly on Bai Muxue’s cat ears. The ears even twitched gently in her palm.

Cat ears were already one of a cat’s most sensitive areas, and since Bai Muxue had become a catgirl, the sensation felt even stronger.

“S-Stop touching me… ngh…” Before she knew it, a blush had spread across Bai Muxue’s face, and an electric sensation spread through her.

“Sigh Looks like it’s up to the great and charming me to save the day.” Bai Ye shook her head at the scene.
