Join the ServerA-jin had already lost most of his courage to confess the moment he saw Jiang Shulan’s boyfriend.
Even without knowing anything about luxury brands, he could tell that every piece the man wore was custom-made and outrageously expensive. Just a tiny glimpse of the wealth slipping through the cracks was enough for someone to live lavishly for a lifetime.
That made sense.
How could someone as perfect as Jiang Shulan ever be interested in him?
Philip was handsome, refined, and carried himself with effortless nobility. They weren’t even from the same world.
And he had actually thought about competing with a man like that for Jiang Shulan?
Even A-jin found the idea laughable.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he closed it again.
A strained smile tugged at his lips. It looked like he wanted to laugh to ease the awkwardness, but the expression shattered before it could fully form.
Lowering his head, his shoulders slumped slightly.
“Sorry. I overstepped.”
“No!”
Jiang Shulan crouched down, grabbed his hand, looked up at him, and said with complete seriousness,
“A-jin, actually, the boyfriend I was talking about isn’t him. It’s you. I stopped liking him a long time ago.”
What kind of boyfriend walks around with a BOSS tag over his head?
Oh.
His boyfriend did.
Wait.
Why was it always his?!
“System!”
Jiang Shulan puffed up like an angry pufferfish.
“Was this your doing? I’m angry now! Really angry! Extremely angry!”
Every world he entered came with a BOSS as his boyfriend.
There was no way the system wasn’t involved somehow.
The system defended itself weakly.
“It wasn’t me. Just a coincidence.”
“Three strikes and you’re out!”
Jiang Shulan practically ground his teeth together.
“If the next world is like this too, I’m really not talking to you anymore!”
His voice kept rising, but because the ends of his words always curled upward, it sounded more like sulking and whining than actual anger. The way one cheek puffed out only made him look adorable.
The system fell silent.
Jiang Shulan was so furious he nearly exploded, his jaw tense.
Guard against thieves day and night, only to discover the thief is inside the house.
Jiang Shulan felt heartbroken.
“Just wait until I get back.”
The system felt guilty.
“…Okay.”
A hand suddenly landed on Jiang Shulan’s shoulder.
The man standing behind him curled his lips into a smile filled with menace.
“You sure about that?”
The system hurriedly tried to make up for its mistakes.
“I suggest you don’t make it too obvious. You haven’t said everything outright yet. As long as you don’t, he still has to play the role of your devoted boyfriend. But if you expose him completely, he’ll stop holding back.”
Jiang Shulan’s eyes immediately lit up.
Then he puffed out his cheeks and complained pitifully,
“When my life was in danger, you never showed up. Do you know how many days I’ve been stuck in this hospital?”
Standing up, he realized he only reached Philip’s chest.
No intimidation at all.
Jiang Shulan grabbed Philip’s tie and yanked it downward, glaring at him fiercely.
Sure enough, because Philip still had to maintain his image as a good boyfriend, he didn’t resist.
Jiang Shulan continued,
“You only showed up today, and the first thing you did was yell at me! You don’t care about me at all! Not even a little! I don’t care! I want to break up!”
He was determined to force Philip into breaking up with him.
Otherwise, judging by how the previous two horror movies had gone, he definitely wouldn’t survive this one unscathed.
Philip lowered his gaze and stared at his little boyfriend, who was counting his “crimes” on his fingers.
One of his facial muscles twitched strangely.
Had he yelled at Jiang Shulan?
Jiang Shulan had helped Xiao Shan kill him.
Not only had he not held a grudge, he had crawled out of the dirt the moment he revived.
Worried that the wounds on his body would scare his boyfriend, he had rushed through cleaning himself up as quickly as possible before coming here.
And that still counted as not caring?
“You’re not saying anything. So you admit it, right?!”
Jiang Shulan narrowed his eyes.
“Starting this second, we officially-”
Before he could say the words “break up,” a hand covered his mouth.
This was a hospital.
Jiang Shulan didn’t believe Philip would dare do anything outrageous here.
He reached up to push him away.
The hand covering his mouth slid down and gripped his chin instead.
A familiar gesture.
A familiar outcome.
Philip kissed Jiang Shulan right in front of A-jin.
One hand cradled Jiang Shulan’s small face, completely controlling his breathing.
The other forced its way between his fingers and intertwined with them.
His boyfriend wasn’t very strong.
His struggles were just adorable little displays of emotion between lovers.
The only problem was that he was a bit foolish.
After kissing for a while, Philip always had to let him breathe, otherwise he would end up fainting from lack of air.
His lips were always sweet.
Everything about him was sweet.
Sweet enough to make Philip dizzy and crave more.
Look at him.
His boyfriend was so adorable.
No wonder people kept coveting him.
Philip pulled the nearly boneless Jiang Shulan into his arms.
The normally pale color of Philip’s lips had deepened slightly from the kiss.
Jiang Shulan’s lips were even redder.
It almost looked as though the color on Philip’s mouth had been stolen from Jiang Shulan’s.
“Thank you very much.”
Philip casually pulled out an unlimited black card and placed it on the bedside table.
“A small token of appreciation. Please accept it.”
After all, Xiao Shan had tried to steal his boyfriend.
The least Xiao Shan could do was thank him.
A-jin clenched his fists.
“You shouldn’t do that. Even if you’re his boyfriend, you can’t ignore his feelings.”
Philip laughed softly.
“But he always rejects me. Surely you understand.”
“He’s still young. He can’t handle me, so being a little afraid is perfectly normal.”
“And didn’t you hear what he said earlier?”
Philip smiled as he drove the knife even deeper into A-jin’s heart.
“He’s going to marry me. When the wedding comes, I hope you’ll attend. Bring your wife and child. And now-”
Philip raised an eyebrow.
“I’m taking my boyfriend home. No. My fiancé.”
The room fell silent.
A-jin stared blankly at the black card.
Suddenly, his eyes burned.
When Night Demon had tortured him, he hadn’t shed a single tear.
He had even found the strength to provoke the killer.
Yet now, he felt an overwhelming urge to cry.
The gap between him and Jiang Shulan was simply too great.
Perhaps the next time he saw Jiang Shulan would be at his wedding.
A-jin pressed a hand tightly against his chest.
“Doctor! The patient’s heart has stopped!”
“What? Wasn’t his condition improving? Quick! Get the defibrillator!”
A month later, A-jin’s life seemed to have returned to normal.
He still worked as an ordinary appliance repairman.
He still dealt with all kinds of struggling people.
He still spent his days worrying over whether he had earned five dollars or six.
He never touched the black card.
But he never threw it away either.
Instead, he locked it in a safe.
Every night before bed, he would look at it once.
And then lie awake all night.
He avoided the news.
Avoided newspapers.
Tried to cut himself off from anything that might remind him of Jiang Shulan.
He didn’t want to hear a single thing about Jiang Shulan and Philip’s wedding.
Until one day.
“Oh my God, A-jin!”
His sister-in-law called from far away.
“Have you seen the news? Jiang’s boyfriend is Night Demon!”
