Chapter 49: Alien Prequel – Androids Also Engage in Competition

Early in the morning, David pulled back his little master’s blanket with practiced ease.

His little master was wearing a loose T-shirt and shorts, exposing pale, slender arms and calves. His delicate, beautiful face was buried in the pillow, and his collar had slipped down to one shoulder, leaving half of his round shoulder plainly visible.

The lines of his body were still youthful and immature.

David’s pupils contracted slightly, and the chip inside him grew hot.

“Mmm…”

David hadn’t turned on the lights. His little master must have thought he was still dreaming. He shifted his legs lightly, soft whimpers and faint sobs escaping his rosy lips.

It was a common physiological reaction for boys in the morning.

David thought for less than a second before deciding to help his little master.

His little master understood nothing, but David’s database contained everything. He would make him feel comfortable.

He quietly moved closer, his tall frame easily gathering the smaller figure into his arms. Their bodies fit together without a gap.

He wrapped both arms around his little master.

His little master started crying.

David tilted his head and tasted the tears. They were not bitter, which meant he could continue and should continue.

His little master was so soft, so sweet-smelling, and even beautiful when crying. The corners of his eyes turned red like the evening clouds on the horizon, gorgeous beyond words.

His little master began trembling, crying even more pitifully, so David decided to increase his efforts.

After a while, his little master fell asleep with reddened eyes.

David quietly watched his peaceful sleeping face.

Actually, he had only intended to wake his little master up. He could swear it, if anyone were willing to believe him.

But what was this?

David looked at the part of his originally light-green military trousers that had somehow become darker.

That was where his little master’s essence had landed.

In an instant, David developed an unprecedented desire to investigate this phenomenon.

He hurried back to his own room and leaned closer, once again catching the scent of gardenias.

Holding his fingers before his eyes, he examined them carefully, as though researching an extraordinarily difficult problem.

So his little master actually liked men…

No wonder he still didn’t have a girlfriend.

David suddenly felt enlightened. A strange emotion began taking root in his heart.

Before this, all he had wanted was to protect his little master as he had when he was young. He wanted his little master to stay safe, to smile at him, to call his name sweetly, to act spoiled with him, to have no one else by his side except David…

But now, he wanted more.

A message arrived from Janek.

“David, something has happened to Milburn and Fifield. We need to leave immediately and check on them.”

“Understood. I’ll be there shortly.”

A plan quickly formed in David’s mind.

Before leaving, he returned to his little master’s room one more time and changed all of his clothes.

During the process, his little master seemed half-awake. David soothed him gently, and he drifted back into deep sleep.

Look at that. He trusted him so completely. Depended on him so much…

The system, which had been silently observing, protested,

[He just wants to sleep in!]

Still, perhaps that was a good thing.

If Jiang Shulan could accept David, then accepting it should be only natural as well.

When Jiang Shulan finally woke up, he didn’t feel anything unusual.

He stretched lazily, yawned, and slowly wandered into the bathroom.

He still hadn’t slept enough. His eyes were half-closed when he suddenly caught sight of himself in the mirror.

Why did he look like someone who had just… done something? His eyes were moist and dreamy.

But he clearly remembered not having any such dream. He had only felt a strange itch on his thighs, as if bugs were crawling across them. He had wanted to scratch it but had been too lazy to move.

The itch had disappeared midway, so he hadn’t thought much of it.

Had he really reached this stage already?

It seemed that having boyfriends in several previous worlds had left deeper scars than he thought…

Jiang Shulan turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on his face, muttering under his breath.

The system listened carefully and discovered that he was saying,

“I don’t want to turn gay! No! No!”

The system sighed helplessly.

He was practically cooked already, yet he still thought he was straight.

But perhaps that was for the best. By the time it got Jiang Shulan into bed, as long as it didn’t go all the way, he might simply think they were playing around…

After cleaning himself up and making sure the heat in his face had faded, Jiang Shulan went to find Weyland.

Most of the people on the ship were gone.

David had sent him a message saying that everyone had gone to retrieve Milburn and Fifield from the ruins. He told Jiang Shulan to stay safely aboard the ship and not wander around.

With so many people there, surely nothing would happen.

Jiang Shulan walked over to Weyland’s cryo-pod.

This had been their agreement. On the third day after arriving on the planet, Weyland would be awakened to prevent him from remaining in suspended sleep indefinitely.

The medical personnel accompanying them were highly trained and were helping clean his body.

Weyland looked at Jiang Shulan.

“Where’s your sister?”

“She’s gone to meet Dr. Shaw and the others.”

Jiang Shulan crouched beside him so that Weyland could easily ruffle his hair.

“Father, I missed you so much.”

“You’re already this old and still acting like a child.”

Weyland enjoyed his dependence and chided him affectionately.

“If only you could be as mature and steady as your sister.”

“I’d like to be,” Jiang Shulan replied, his blue eyes curving into crescents, “but all I want is to stay by your side and make you happy.”

Weyland laughed.

“Nonsense.”

He stood up, leaning on his cane.

“Come. Let’s go see your sister.”

Meanwhile, near the ship’s entrance, everyone was locked in a desperate struggle.

When Janek noticed something wrong with Milburn and Fifield that morning, he immediately organized a rescue mission.

But all they found was Milburn’s horribly mutilated corpse and a barely-living Fifield.

There had been no time to ask questions.

Janek and Holloway immediately supported Fifield and headed back.

The entire way, Fifield never stopped screaming in agony, sending chills down their spines.

They had assumed he would receive treatment as soon as they reached the ship and recover.

Instead, just as they tried to carry him inside, Fifield suddenly became motionless.

When he opened his eyes again, his face had twisted into something monstrous.

He, or rather, it, began attacking everyone indiscriminately.

Its speed and strength were terrifying.

Apart from David, who was an android himself, none of them could match it.

“Move aside!”

Vickers raised a flamethrower and pulled the trigger.

Flames instantly engulfed Fifield.

Watching Vickers standing in front of him, Janek suddenly clutched his chest.

Vickers frowned.

Her personality closely resembled Weyland’s, strict, disciplined, arrogant, proud. Her hair was always perfectly arranged.

She coldly delivered her judgment.

“You hid a heart condition from me? When we return, half your salary is gone.”

“My God.”

Janek scratched his head.

“I don’t have a heart condition. My heart just started beating really fast.”

He simply thought Vickers looked incredibly cool.

At that moment, Jiang Shulan arrived supporting Weyland.

“What happened?”

“Long story.”

Janek sighed.

“That was Fifield. Something infected him and turned him into… that.”

“Are you all idiots?”

Weyland’s authority was overwhelming.

“If you knew he was carrying a virus, why didn’t you throw him outside immediately?”

“Master.”

David closed the hatch.

“I already threw him out.”

Weyland nodded.

“Then, Dr. Shaw, please give me a brief explanation.”

In truth, David had already reported everything to him.

Still, he wanted to hear Shaw’s version.

Dr. Shaw quickly summarized everything that had happened.

“We analyzed samples from the Engineer. His DNA is completely identical to ours. He is our creator.”

Weyland stared at her.

“I spent an unimaginable amount of money bringing all of you into space, and this is all you have to tell me?”

What use was that information?

David stepped forward.

“Master, I actually discovered a living Engineer inside the structure.”

Everyone who had accompanied David into the ruins immediately turned to stare at him.

‘Good grief.’

This thick-browed, serious-looking android had started competing with them.

And why hadn’t he mentioned the Engineer when they found it? Why wait until now to claim credit?

Could an android really be so desperate for recognition? Was he trying to earn more electricity?

Knowing full well that David was only trying to gain his future father-in-law Weyland’s approval, Holloway rolled his eyes.

He kept talking about how he had developed feelings for his little master, completely forgetting that he was an android.

Wasn’t he afraid that if those feelings were discovered, he’d be destroyed on the spot?

‘What an idiot.’
