Join the ServerTo be honest, Jiang Shulan was a little scared traveling alone, even though he had acted very brave…
But he still had the System.
[System~]
[What is it?]
[Can you tell me a story?]
Other players either treated their Systems with utmost reverence, placing these seemingly omnipotent beings on a pedestal, or they remained cold and rational, viewing them as nothing more than tools that assigned missions.
Only Jiang Shulan was different.
He neither worshipped it as a god nor treated it as a tool.
[…That’s not part of my duties.]
The System thought about it carefully.
Refusing Jiang Shulan at a time like this probably wouldn’t make him cry.
Jiang Shulan narrowed his eyes and clasped his hands together in front of his chest.
[Pretty please~]
[What kind of story do you want to hear?]
[I want to hear a story about where the way down this mountain is!]
[…? Jiang Shulan?]
Jiang Shulan got along so well with the System that he never noticed there was someone standing high up in the trees above him.
Although they were twins, William looked completely different from Vincent.
Their tastes, however, were exactly the same.
When he first heard that Vincent had found himself a boyfriend, William hadn’t cared at all.
Because he knew that Vincent’s relationship was merely part of his attempt to imitate humanity, to become more like an ordinary person. That was why Vincent willingly entered the human world, acting as a bridge that continuously delivered former sinners to this place.
But no matter how human Vincent pretended to be, no matter how perfectly he played the role of a gentle man, he was still, at his core, a bloodthirsty and violent beast.
William’s silent ridicule toward his brother lasted right up until the moment Vincent’s vehicle broke down and Jiang Shulan stepped out.
The instant he saw him, everything stopped.
Just one glance.
And William knew.
This person would become something shared by both him and Vincent…
William was completely confident that no matter where Jiang Shulan went, he would never be able to leave this forest.
So he remained hidden among the trees and undergrowth, watching him constantly.
When their little bride sat on a rock to rest, cheeks flushed from exhaustion, he looked adorable.
When he drank water and his throat bobbed slightly, he looked adorable.
When he grew tired and sweat dampened his skin…
William’s thoughts abruptly paused.
‘Wait.’
Something wasn’t right.
Meanwhile, after a combination of persistence and shameless pleading, Jiang Shulan had successfully obtained directions from the System and excitedly rushed forward.
By the time he realized someone had suddenly dropped down from above, it was already too late to stop.
He crashed directly into the person’s arms.
“I’m sor-”
Rubbing his nose, Jiang Shulan looked up.
The apology stuck in his throat.
‘So… So beautiful.’
Long golden hair fell softly over the stranger’s shoulders, shifting gently in the breeze.
His face looked as though it had been carved by an artist.
His nose was narrow and elegant.
His skin was pale.
He wore a rough linen shirt whose loose collar hung open carelessly.
The coarse clothing only made him appear even more fragile and unreal.
Like an elf.
Just as Vincent had predicted, Jiang Shulan was completely captivated.
Absolutely and thoroughly captivated.
“Baby, what kind of place do you like? If it’s on a rock, I’ll lay down thick blankets so you won’t get hurt. What about by a stream…”
Even the elf’s voice sounded beautiful.
Jiang Shulan’s ears felt pleasantly numb.
As for what the elf was actually saying, Jiang Shulan honestly didn’t hear a single word.
“Mr. Elf,” Jiang Shulan said, barely recovering a shred of reason.
His red lips pressed together, blue eyes blinking earnestly.
Hands clasped together again, he pleaded,
“Could you take me down the mountain? My friends are waiting for me to save them!”
The pose was so practiced that it was obvious he was a repeat offender when it came to begging.
“Of course not.”
The elf took hold of Jiang Shulan’s hands and smiled, a smile beautiful enough to enchant anyone.
Then, using that breathtaking face, he calmly said something completely unreasonable.
“The wedding has already been prepared. Once we return, we’ll get married immediately.”
“Wait.”
Jiang Shulan swallowed.
“Something feels very wrong here.”
Why was the word BOSS floating above this gorgeous elf’s head?!
“I know,” the elf replied with a soft sigh.
“But I’ve waited a very long time.”
His tone sounded almost wistful.
Jiang Shulan remained blissfully unaware of the disaster waiting for him.
When he finally woke up again, there were two people standing before him.
One of them lowered his head and lifted Jiang Shulan’s chin with a finger.
His gaze lingered at Jiang Shulan’s lips.
Cold on the surface, but hiding anger underneath.
“You were too rough,” he said.
“I’ve never been that rough with him.”
Jealousy practically overflowed from every word.
It was Vincent.
But wasn’t Vincent supposed to be with Amy and the others?
How was he here?
Jiang Shulan rubbed his aching temples, overwhelmed by the amount of information crashing into his brain.
“Excuse me?”, he said blankly.
“But I’ve only kissed him once. How many times have you kissed him? I don’t even know how far you’ve gone!”
The speaker was the elf.
And he sounded equally dissatisfied.
They knew each other?
What about Amy and the others?
Jiang Shulan pulled a hand away from his mouth and tried to sit up.
But his body felt strangely weak.
The bed beneath him was far too soft and slippery.
Unable to find any leverage, he promptly slid back down.
The elf lifted Jiang Shulan’s right hand and pressed repeated kisses against it.
His hand.
His fingers.
His knuckles.
His voice was low and pleasant.
“So cute.”
“Want to hug him.”
“It’s not time yet.”
Vincent’s throat tightened.
“There’s still the judgment tonight.”
“Judgment?”
William laughed softly.
His green eyes never left Jiang Shulan for even a second.
“Then you go.”
“Let me start first.”
“William.”
Vincent’s voice turned sharp.
The warning wasn’t about preserving the authority of the tribal ritual that had existed for over a century.
It was a reminder.
“I found him first.”
“So I go first.”
“That was our agreement.”
“Then let’s ask Shulan what he thinks.”
By now, Jiang Shulan’s mind had finally become completely clear.
He immediately scooted backward and put distance between himself and William.
Then he kicked at him.
“Get away from me!”
William didn’t panic.
He casually caught Jiang Shulan’s ankle.
His thumb stroked lightly across it.
The beautiful smile never left his face.
“Shulan.”
“Your name is beautiful.”
“But it’s difficult to pronounce.”
“Can I call you Baby instead?”
“Or maybe Little Wife?”
“Which do you prefer?”
“Prefer your big head!”
Jiang Shulan pushed himself upright with both hands planted on the bed.
Completely unaware of how vulnerable that position made him look.
His mouth ran nonstop.
“You pretended to be an elf and tricked me, and now you’re-”
He was trembling with anger.
Now that his rationality had returned, he was far too embarrassed to even describe what William had done.
And judging by the situation, Vincent was clearly in on it too!
“Vincent!”
Jiang Shulan glared at him.
“What happened to Amy and the others?”
A sharp pain suddenly shot through his ankle.
That lunatic William had actually bitten it.
Jiang Shulan’s attention was instantly dragged back to him.
William seemed satisfied.
He tightened his grip on Jiang Shulan’s ankle.
“Baby,” he murmured.
