Join the ServerBai Yun’s ability to improvise was genuinely impressive. If Bai Muxue hadn’t known that Bai Yun and Ye Li were magical girls, she might have bought Bai Yun’s act completely.
Bai Muxue then thought of her own identity as a witch. ‘Doesn’t this count as another case of the enemy in the open while I’m hidden?’
“Big Sister, this is my new friend, Ye Li.” Bai Muxue introduced Ye Li simply.
“Mm.” Bai Yun nodded. She had already seen this last night.
She had even watched the entire exchange between Bai Muxue and Ye Li.
“Making friends is a good thing. Muxue, you’ve been a bit of a loner, so it’s good to make some friends.” Bai Yun added.
“Would you like to come in and sit for a while?” Bai Yun turned to Ye Li.
“I’d love to…” Ye Li’s words were cut off when her phone suddenly buzzed.
Ye Li took out her phone and saw a message from Ye Xiaomeng telling her to get home soon.
“Um, my big sister is telling me to get home early, so I can’t come in. Sorry, sorry.”
Ye Li was a bit disappointed not to be able to sit in Bai Muxue’s house.
“It’s fine. Come again another time.” Bai Yun said.
“Mm!” Ye Li nodded, then left.
Seeing Ye Li leave, Bai Muxue also went into the house, closing the door behind her.
Bai Muxue knew she still had the bead containing Blood Rose’s magic in her pocket.
That thing absolutely could not be seen by Bai Yun. She needed to find a hidden spot to stash it.
Thinking about it, Bai Muxue quickened her pace toward her room.
“Wait, Muxue.” Bai Yun noticed that something seemed to be sticking out of Bai Muxue’s pocket.
It looked like… photos?
Bai Yun looked a bit more closely. They were indeed photos. Not one, but two.
“What is it, Big Sister?” Bai Muxue heard Bai Yun’s voice, stopped in her tracks, and turned around stiffly.
Bai Muxue even started to wonder if Bai Yun had noticed the bead storing Blood Rose’s magic in her pocket.
If that was the case, then tonight she’d be getting a room at Changfeng City’s Witch Prison.
With Bai Muxue’s strength, resisting Bai Yun was basically impossible.
“Hm?” Bai Yun noticed that Bai Muxue seemed a bit nervous.
They were just two photos. Why was Bai Muxue this nervous?
Could it be…
Bai Yun’s mind raced through many possibilities. Maybe the two photos in Bai Muxue’s pocket weren’t ordinary photos, but the kind with a bit too much skin showing.
If that was the case, then if she forced Bai Muxue to take them out and she saw them, it wouldn’t be good for either of them.
So, should she look or not?
Bai Yun only thought about it for a moment.
She had to look.
Not because Bai Yun wanted to see something like that, but because as a big sister, she had a duty to care about her little sister’s physical and mental health.
When people are nervous, they tend to think about a lot of things. Bai Muxue, for example, was already having a full-blown mental storm.
Seeing Bai Yun sitting on the sofa in silence, Bai Muxue thought Bai Yun was deciding whether to pretend she hadn’t noticed the bead in her pocket or to expose it outright.
‘Could her witch career really end here?’
‘But only two days had passed!’
‘Whatever the fault was, it all came down to her having a big sister who was Changfeng City’s strongest magical girl.’
Bai Muxue couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Is it too late to kneel and beg for mercy?’
“Muxue, can I take a look at those two photos in your pocket?” Bai Yun asked in a gentle voice.
“Ph, photos?” Bai Muxue froze for a moment, then realized that what Bai Yun wanted to look at was indeed photos, not the bead in her pocket.
Bai Muxue let out a silent sigh of relief.
‘Good, good. Bai Yun only wanted to see the photos, and hadn’t noticed the bead in her pocket.’
‘She’d almost thought she was done for.’
Bai Muxue walked up to Bai Yun and handed her the two photos.
The photos were a group photo of three people, and a photo of just Bai Muxue and Ye Li.
“Mm…” Bai Yun glanced at the first photo. It was a perfectly normal group photo.
“Who is this?” Bai Yun pointed at Ye Xiaomeng behind the two of them.
“Her name is Ye Xiaomeng. She’s Xiao Li’s big sister.”
Bai Yun nodded, then looked at the second photo. This one was of Ye Li and Bai Muxue.
Even though it was just an ordinary photo, Bai Yun stared at it for a long time.
“Um, uh.” Seeing Bai Yun holding the photo of her and Ye Li for so long, Bai Muxue couldn’t help asking, “Big Sister, can I go to my room now?”
Bai Yun snapped out of it: “Mm, Muxue, you can go in now.”
With Bai Yun’s permission, Bai Muxue walked into her room and closed the door.
“Gave me a scare… I thought I’d been found out.” Bai Muxue took out the blood-red bead.
“Even though my strength is a lot weaker than before, I’m still confident in my concealment magic.” Bai Ye’s voice came.
“Yeah, yeah, sure.” Bai Muxue nodded dismissively. “If you could recover a bit more of your strength, we wouldn’t be getting chased around.”
“Magical girls can chase us, other witches can chase us too. Aren’t you kind of weak?”
“The only reason I’m weak now is because you haven’t gathered enough emotional power. Once you gather enough and I recover to full strength, the two of us can beat up whoever we want, okay?”
Bai Ye argued back.
“By the time you recover to full strength… we’ll probably already be in witch prison before that.” Bai Muxue rolled her eyes. She pulled open the desk drawer and found a locked iron box.
This iron box was a piggy bank Bai Muxue had used a long time ago, and no one else had ever touched it.
She used a hidden key to unlock it, put the bead inside, and locked it again.
“Are you sure Bai Yun won’t find it?” Bai Ye felt Bai Muxue’s approach wasn’t very reliable.
“You don’t understand her. Big Sister respects my privacy. She wouldn’t just open my personal things to see what’s inside.” Bai Muxue replied.
“Fine.” Seeing how much Bai Muxue trusted Bai Yun, Bai Ye said no more.
While Bai Muxue was hiding the bead, Bai Yun sat outside, looking at the photo of Bai Muxue and Ye Li, lost in thought.
Bai Yun raised her head and looked at a photo not far away. It was an old photo of her and Bai Muxue together.
Back then, before Bai Muxue had transformed, she was a bit taller than Bai Yun, with delicate features and a hint of handsomeness.
But after Bai Muxue transformed, Bai Yun realized that the way she looked at Bai Muxue had somehow changed.
Now, whenever Bai Yun saw Bai Muxue, her heart would occasionally stir with a strange flutter, especially last night when she slept beside Bai Muxue.
Bai Yun couldn’t say whether this change was good or bad.
When she saw the photo of Ye Li and Bai Muxue, she even felt a slight sense of loss.
“Ah…” Bai Yun let out a soft sigh.
